It was helpful to know the difference between gastric ulcers typically presenting pain 20 minutes after eating and duodenal ulcers usually presenting 2 or 3 hours after eating. If a patient has pain ONLY after eating but not persistently throughout the day or night, could is still be an ulcer, or does that point to it more likely being something else?

I've had peptic ulcers related to an H pylori infection a couple of years ago and it definitely wasn't a pleasant experience being nauseated when I ingested certain trigger foods. Fortunately I was able to successfully treat the infection with the standard course of antibiotics and a PPI but I've since been left with chronic reflux which flares up from time to time. I had to undergo a right hemicolectomy almost a year ago because colon polyps were discovered during the colonoscopy that was performed in an effort to diagnose the initial problem that led to my chronic nausea and vomiting in the first place so at least something positive came out of having the infection and having to suffer from all that misery for so long because had I never had the infection to begin with I might never have seen the need to undergo the colonoscopy in the first place.

So I think I have either PUD or gastritis. I have an H Pylori infection. I took antibiotics at least once a year throughout my childhood. I have chronic stress. I have blood in stool. The one symptom I can’t make sense of is a bulge in my epigastric region (center of upper abdomen, right in the middle of my lower rib cage in the soft area). I haven’t come across anyone IRL or URL who can make sense of this bulge. It is sometimes painful usually a few hours after eating, but is only painful if I press on it. Can someone help make sense of this symptom!
