"Gaston" -- published posthumously in Madness in the Family (edited by Leo Hamalian, 1988) which features previously published (in the 60s and 70s) but uncollected Saroyan stories.
A super sweet and provocative story of a father and daughter's interaction upon discovering a bug (Gaston) in one of their peaches. When asked if her father is crazy, she says, "Yes. I mean, no. He just doesn't holler when he sees a bug crawling out of a peach seed or anything. He just looks at it carefully."
This story is suitable [and enjoyable] for all ages.
