Gasping for air as massive fire burns at Delhi rubbish mountain - BBC News

For days, dozens of firefighters in India's capital Delhi have been struggling to extinguish a fire at one of the largest waste heaps in Asia.
The Ghazipur landfill - a towering mountain of rubbish in the east of the city - exceeded its capacity in 2002 but thousands of tonnes of refuse is still dumped here every day.
People near the site say their lives are blighted by toxic fumes and the stench from the rubbish.

Good luck trying to put that one out, once these deep seated fires start burning it is practically impossible to put them out due to fact the temp inside the mount builds up to such a level it becomes a self consuming fire. There are 2 of these type fires still burning on the planet. One in the USA started in 1962 - Centralia mine fire and another in the Canadian artic that has been burning for over 120 years. Even though both others are coal fires they act in the same way.
