Hi Jeff! Just thought I'd let you know, that you helped inspire me to start a handyman business 3 years ago. 1st year I made about $20k. Last year did over $100k in business and by the end of the year I'd hired two full time employees. I'm paying them a $60k salary, and we're on track to do about $300k in sales this year! The best feature of an eclectic pressure washer is the automatic off feature. For gas, if you let it idle without spraying you will overheat the pump and kill the machine. Electric doesn’t have that problem.

I reach for my little Ryobi electric pressure washer with 1600 psi and 1.2 gpm for every pressure washing job aside from the driveway. It can actually clean concrete surprisingly well with the wand, but of course it isn't powerful enough to run the surface cleaner. I only break my gas pressure washer out once a year to clean the driveway now. You can't beat the convenience of electric, and most jobs don't actually require anywhere near the power and gpm that gas machines are putting out.

Have had one for over 15 years. Most motorised ones are knock offs of the Honda 4 stroke engine. With any pressure washer especially on a flat or near flat surface, I use a rotary head attachment. I have used the head on horizontal and vertical surfaces. Have used this head to clean fences and concrete walls. There are many advantages for using a pressure rotary head. The two most important are, the time reduction is considerable and the results with the shorter time is better. Can use the normal spray nozzles to 'cut in' when adjoining areas don't need to be touched/washed. Size is not important. The bigger the washer pressure, the bigger the diameter of the rotary head. For big businesses, the motorised machines can have a hot water system attached. For car washing, a snow foam system can be attached.

It’s funny, I have a really nice gas pressure washer. Used it only 2-3 times. It’s loud as hell and hate that I have to turn it off and on if I’m washing a car. Bought a nice electric one recently and already used it 4 times. Squeeze the trigger to turn on/off. It’s also enough power for all but the toughest jobs. I fear my gas one will be collecting dust from now on.

Jeff, just a helpful tip, do a soft wash (no high pressure required) with 30 second clean (about $30). If you're siding doesn't look brand new, then use a pressure washer. Pressure washers are not cheap and etch the siding making it get dirty quicker. Trust me try thriy second clean from your local hardware store. I was blown away by it, it doesn't just clean your siding it makes is shiny and new looking. We did this before listing our house for sell and most thought we just had the siding installed. Nope its clean but original to the 12 yr old house. It works that good. No I don't work for them, they just make a product that most don't know about. Cheers!

Electric pressure washers are convenient to use, but very light duty - rinsing a trailer or a small deck in the spring. Gas is a must for larger projects like a whole house or driveway...you want at least 2500 PSI. Just gotta watch out on wood surfaces, if you get closer than about 8" you'll leave marks or crack old brittle materials.

I saw a video recently that the main reason for any pressure washer failure is not running water while the unit is on. The water flow is essential to not burn out the pump parts. That also explains the dribble at pay car wash bays.

30 seconds outdoor cleaner(sold everywhere) does a really good job at killing algae and mold, mildew... spray it on go around house spraying it by the time you get back to where you started just pressure wash it off. Btw need to use black tip for soap to be dispensed low pressure and all other tips are for angle of pressure (not soap/cleaner)

Good choice- I bought one of the Ryobi electric pressure washers- it only worked 3 times and died. If you lose the receipt, you have no warranty. Another reason to have a Home Depot account is to track these purchases because things can and do fail. This unit you have has a lot more power, but you can't haul it with you in e.g. a motorhome. I saw a video recently that the reason that mostly happens is from not turning off the unit when you're not spraying. If the pump is running it needs water flowing through it to not be damaged. They really should have a default dribble setting instead of just putting a warning in the manual.

As a homeowner who owns both gas and electric pressure washers, I advise others to avoid the gas units. I retired mine. The electric models are compact, quieter, and much lower maintenance. I learned from professionals who do “pressure washing” that pressure is secondary to the chemical cleaners they use. The chemicals do the heavy lifting. The pressure washer is used for rinsing…not cleaning. Pressure is needed to reach higher stories. Get a soap/chemical dispenser that fits on the end of the washer’s pistol or wand. Don’t siphon chemicals through the pump.

Both gas and electric pressure washers are still limited to where they go by the hose ut uses for water. You can say all the pros and cons for both and atill in the end come out almost equal except that gas has higher pressure than electric for now. You dont NEED chemicals with a gas washer for most projects the pressure will remove almost anything so less expense. I cleaned a thick moldy driveway in 10 minutes with pressure alone as well as sidewalk and steps. Yes soap or chemicals only draw up with the washer head fitting ONLY none of the other heads will and those are very low pressure so you gave to go over everything twice to get it done. I have both and electric and a gas that are used according to what isneeded cleaned. The biggest benefit of electric is the auto shutoff to kerp from killing the pump. Eventually they will get an electric washer over 2500 - 3000 PSI then I will go that route alone. Pressure is the key factor in a pressure washer, otherwise just use a garden hose with a high pressure nozzle.

  • @KimmoJaskari

Combustion engine's are so last century. Electric will get the job done and be basically maintenance free. It also doesn't make an ungodly racket, or spew exhaust stench everywhere. My 100€ Bosch came with a three-in one nozzle that does the necessary stuff and you can also just buy a patio washer and whatever attachment you need. Sure, it may not have the absolute top end pressure but pressure enough to do real damage to wood and such if you're not careful... so no, you can keep your noisy combustion engines. As soon as I can find a good two-stage snow blower with lithium batteries that won't cost me an arm and a leg I'm ditching my last combustion engine too, which is the snow blower. Everything else is electric, or robotic and electric.

Equipment and techniques demonstrated in this video are subpar. Equipment is expensive, especially if you have to buy it twice, and proper technique costs you nothing but time. Again, Jeff is great and I appreciate what he’s trying to do here, but he just can’t be an expert at everything.

Don't use a clickbait title and not deliver the right content. Scam video. Please do not add music to any demo, DIY, tour, cooking, or wildlife video. It hurts the ears, drowns out natural sounds we need to hear, and irritates the mind immensely. Your choice of music is not mine. I came for the video. I got blasted with obnoxious rock music I detest. Why??? What purpose does it serve besides chasing away subscribers? It adds nothing. It subtracts everything. I wanted to hear the decibel level of the washer, how hard the water fizzes out of the nozzle at max pressure, the sounds of starting it up. Learning is not just visual, it is auditory too. You removed the whole audio section of how this works, and included your voice and music. Well that does nothing for learning. I need to hear the SOUND of the washer too. So frustrating. I do not want to be a slave to the volume button turning it ON OFF ON OFF, to hear you speak in between the music. I hope this resonates with you. NO MUSIC. Save it for the man cave and beer buddies. With the door closed please.
