Wow, I was at this concert in 76 at Balboa Stadium. Gary Wright, Yes, and Peter Frampton. What a concert and look at everyone having fun. Those were the days and man do I miss them. Gary Wright was a brilliant musician and will desperately be missed. RIP.

Gary was singular, no doubt. I wish I'd been born a decade before '67, as the 70's stadium concerts were special from that bygone era. Didn't go live shows until in teens in 80's. Missed Cal Jams and all the great music and fun.

I love this video. I love watching this stadium fill up with all these 1970s cool cats! I love the way the shared love of the same music brings people from all around together. I love that 1000s of people pour in over such a short period of time without incident. AND THEN they all get to enjoy Gary Wright together! I wish I was there!

Yes ! Soooo many different sounds even within the rock genre ! As a keyboard player just getting into synthesizers, I was into ANY band that had a keyboard player, and I believe the Dream Weaver album had NO guitar at all. So way cool ! Sadly, I didn’t know he passed. RIP Gary, your music left a mark on me.

Darren I didn't know that his keyboard player play for other bands and backed up Michael Jackson, that is so cool. When I was a teenager in high school, my art teacher had the radio going and Gary Wright would come on all the time, I used to live in Desert Hot Springs, the next town over from Palm Springs and Gary's Love Is Alive with come on all the time, oh my gosh that's it such a wonderful feeling hearing Gary and his songs. I will carry Gary's songs for the rest of my life and I am 65 years Young, it's a shame he had so many years being in pain. Thank you for your comment on Gary and Jimmy Buffett. Lately we have been losing so many wonderful musicians, makes me feel very strange.

I was 8 years old when this concert took place. I'm 49 now,,and anybody under 35 today has no clue what a REAL concert was like. Especially one like this,,summertime, outside, arena venue,,AT LEAST 25 thousand people. You didn't need to bring any party favorites to a concert, they were already here. how concerts have seriously changed. The last decade of real concerts were the 80's. I'm so glad my hippie mother took me to concerts like this in the 70's. and they were the best in the Midwest,,

Very, very saddened about the loss of the synth-rock-heavy icon who was very hot in the 1970s--almost as hot as KISS, Queen, Santana, and maybe even Lynyrd Skynyrd, in the 1970s. I am also having a hunch that a lot of Southern Rock fans in the 1970s--even Skynyrd fans--would go to arena rock shows like that for the--I think---"Love Is Alive" tour. Gary Wright's hot "synth-heavy" rock grooves and tunes inspired even the Steve Miller band to pay homage to Gary's synth work with the long introduction to "Fly Like An Eagle", known for its synthesizer pyrotechnics of swoop-ups, ring mods, arpeggiations, and rising scales." Likely an indirect homage. But it is so sad that we lost an icon. There may never be another Gary Wright in the foreseeable future! So sad we lost him!! :( :(

I saw them on this tour in 1976 but at Angel Stadium in LA (this footage is from their San Diego concert). Gentle Giant opened the show with about an hour set, followed by Gary Wright with an hour set, then Peter Frampton doing about 2 hours and then Yes for the finale. It was an amazing lineup, with two of my fave bands Gentle Giant and Yes! Gary Wright was fantastic too. I was amazed that all of his musicians on stage - except for the drummer - were playing a keyboard, most of them around theirs necks - never saw anything like that before or since.

I usually don’t leave comments on videos, ever. But I just had to express how much I appreciate & love this video after watching it just now for the first time. Weirdly enough, I found out about Gary Wright through the show Family Guy. They used the audio from a Japanese cover of “Dream Weaver” for a couple of seconds in a scene (S15, Ep. 8 if curious), and the song sounded so angelic and beautiful. Anyhow, after discovering Mr. Wright, the next song I found of his was this masterpiece right here, “Love is Alive”. This song is so simple and pure in the most pulchritudinous way. Everytime the chorus starts up, it strikes a dopamine-inducing nerve inside of me. The synths, the groove, his voice; I love everything about this song. I was listening to it just now in my headphones and decided to see if there was a live version. Then I come here and it’s bittersweet, because I found out Mr. Wright passed away just 3 months ago !? :( I’m only 25, and didn’t grow up introduced to these incredible sounds. Just seeing the crowd and the band so present, in-tune, and lively is really breath-taking. Everyone just seems to be existing in a way that doesn’t really occur anymore. There’s no phones and no pretentiousness and no distractions. I watched this video and I just cried, because everything about it is so awesome and I’m so jealous of this time. This video is truly a look back at history. And for people like me, who are fans of artists from time’s past, videos like this mean the world to me. It allows me to live in this moment and transports me to another place where all that matters is the music. So so sad to hear that Gary has passed, as I would have loved to see him in concert. But real music never dies. This song was released in 1975, and hearing it for the first time in 2022, the song still holds all of the magic that I’m sure I t had when it was initially released all those years ago.. Rest in heaven & thank you for the music Gary Wright.

Ahh the good ole’ days when we could bring blankets-ice chests full of food-drinks to concerts. Saw Gary open ‘76 Frampton Comes Alive w/Santana a fantastic show that broke ticket sales records in Tulsa @ the motor speedway racetrack. Craziest memory is the row of older guys behind me & my friends. They were all wearing very short cut off denim shorts, sitting on top of their ice chests legs spread wide letting (everything hang out) think they did it for the shock value but who knows, it was a very hot summer day, gross! Wish I could see the pics another guy took of me-friends right now. R.I.P. Gary Wright🕊️🥀🎶
