I actually don't blame the board that much, GC made a poor decision bringing in Rooney (wasn't he is agent at the time too? seems corrupt?) but still basically the same players. End of the day, the players had 46 games but they barely showed up to some games. Some games they showed zero heart or desire. Far too many individual mistakes throughout the season, poor defending (unlike today when those players were great) and no ability to score - Stansfield was the only player to exceed 10, LJ got 3 in 27, SC 1 in 26., the rest of the goals came from midfielders (james, bacuna, dembele and miyoshi, all with double+ LJ)

Thank you Gary for coming back and trying to get us out of a hole. Unfortunately I think we have far too many players at the club who only turn up when they have a full house at their backs. Your right about the need for a change in the culture of the club. Whoever we recruit, they need to know the importance of that royal blue shirt. They need to play for the badge EVERY SINGLE game not just when they feel like it. We're Birmingham City and we deserve so much more. I do feel that this just puts us a year behind schedule in terms of realising Wagner's ambitions and looking at the bigger picture he will be relentless in his pursuit of success. KRO

Certainly not Gary's fault we have gone down. Had Gary been in charge throughout the season we would have had 66 points. Unfortunately our away form and the Rooney car crash have defined our season. Massive rebuild for next season and I look forward to getting behind Tony, Gary or anyone else leading the promotion push. KRO

No blame on Gary he did fine for me but damage was done when Rooney came in after John. must rank as the worst sacking I have seen from a club. Blues will be back your a huge club so wish you well.

We havent been nowhere near good enough this season. Gary tightened us up and kept us in games so fair play to him. We have been dealt bad refereeing decisions all season. Hull hand ball goal on the top of the list for me. But the worst mistake by a long way was appointing rooney. Where they have been amazing in every other aspect, the one we really needed them to get right was the manager, and they went and dropped a complete clanger. I dont want to point fingers or play the blame game. Its a decision that has hurt us fans deep now and halted our progress. When we went down with sulivan and the golds we come straight back up and won the daf trophy. Maybe something like that will create a good mindset for our new team to push forward in the championship. Maybe, this is what we needed. I am disappointed in the players. They get paid in weeks what i get paid in a year and i just feel some or most of them really didnt care enough to push us over the line. I hope that hurts them in the pocket with whatever they choose to do next. Because it hurt me in both the pocket and the heart. See you down st andrews next year blue noses. Chest out and sod the haters. We are blues.

Everyone’s laughing at us but we gotta own it and move on. Hopefully this is a lesson that pays off in the future that you don’t mess with a team doing well. Rooney being a disaster, Mowbrays illness and a lack of strong characters in the squad was too much to overcome. We need a clear out in all honesty and hopefully we can get used to winning on a regular basis again in league 1. KRO

Are you kidding me? Okay, Rotherham had a goal disallowed by a brain dead decision by Buchanan but it was imperative we didn't lose against Huddlesfeild. How about the away game against Plymouth where we went 3-1 up and drew? That alone would've kept us up. Or the Loftus road game where the players switched off from a winning position and lost in the last minute. We deserved it for overstating our welcome in The league for over a decade. The players deserved it for being a disgrace and relying on an aging Juke and Stansfeild. Recruitment and Craig Gardner deserve it by getting rid of jobe, Colin, and Chong and replacing them with Deadwood from other teams. The long sale especially was the final name in the coffin. Add to that Rooney, and not doing a physical with Mowbray, and we deserved this 100 percent. And we won't come up straight away. Everyone thought villa would when they dropped, But it took them 3 seasons.

Really pleased with the players!!! We are relegated to league 1 next season its very sad day for Birmingham City and his team, Season is the end and hopefully will need to get back to championship if we get starts for 2024/25

I come in peace and a lover of Midlands football as a whole. You need to absolutely bin off Gary Cook, he's obviously twisted the ear of Wagner to get that clown Rooney in, we did the same with Purslow who wanted his mate Gerrard in, get rid and move forward, all the best

Cheers bud. The Villa Blues rivalry is one of the best things for a supporter of either team, and it's hardly a rivalry when you can never play each other and there's such a disparity in the level of football. So many Villa fans seem to forget that when they celebrate us going down. Not that there wouldn't be brain dead bluenoses who would act the same with the roles reversed of course.

Fair play Gary, I think there are some realities to be faced for many at the club. The managerial turmoil has not helped but there seems to be a lack of guts from some of he players when it really mattered.

Good result, but nothing to celebrate. As for the parents who were egging-on their kids to invade the pitch at the end; what a bunch of idiots (and same to the grown adults who invaded). Poor role models. Onwards and upwards next year. KRO

Like the other commenter, we was in 5th position from the start of the season with eustace in charge just starting to find his rhythm in our team & they fire him for a shred killer.. then had mark Venus that was absolutely bullshit rooney & mark Venus we had in charge was just shrek & donkey until rowett literally tried coming into birmingham a few games left tried I can be grateful to rowett though he did try without just being useless in his mind not knowing what he is doing he stepped up to the challenge but at the end of the day it is what it is! Massive respect to rowett from me but also aye we left the season with a win to a solid team. Safe & looking forward to next season as we will be back gone for now but not forgotten till next year. 😌👌 KRO. 💯

Credit to our owners. Couldn't fault them all season 👏🏻👏🏻 At the end of the day we had underperforming players and some of that was morale from the manager predicament. Personally I feel Garry cook has to take a certain amount of responsibility for our relagation for pushing the Rooney appointment which negatively impacted us majorly. From the time Rooney was sacked only Rotherham have conceded less points than us,simple we got what we deserved on the positives I've been a season ticket holder since 85/86 and the most enjoyable season was in division 3 under Barry fry so I'm looking forward to going to a few new grounds

Rooney quit Derby as he thought he was too good with us in league one. He could not hack it in USA and you were sadly unfortunate to get him when Brady and co. got involved. As a Derby fan I always remember Ricky Otto and Steve Claridge under Fry and on my last visit to St. Andrews in 1993 Andy Saville sticking a hat trick past us. Luckily not a long trip back from New Street station to Derby! Sure youwill get back again but as we found league 1 cannot be taken for granted. Still some decent sides down there and it took Sunderland, Pompey and Ipswich amongst others years to get back.

GARY, thank you so much for stepping up and helping out……you didn’t have to…….but I believe the players let you and the fans down. No good turning up at the end 🤷🏼‍♂️

Like many of you I feel totally gutted by todays relegation , but so proud that you lot care so much it would be easy to not give a , but through thick and thin , and lets be honest there's been quite a few lean seasons and desperate days , still true blue fans shout their hearts out week in week out always keeping the faith . So we fall down and reflect with hurt in our hearts . It's quite clear performances like todays consistently would have had us in a play off spot had GR been brought in earlier .Hopefully the owners are also ruefully reflecting on their decisions that lead to this dismal day .I think it's fair to say they owe us the joy fans have been starved of for many seasons . Just look at what Ipswich Town have achieved today ,that should now become our total focus , it is possible , back to back promotions with a new ground and the best fans in the country , hope the gaffer stays he is the right one given a full season to turn things around , KRO.💙

Is there another Sammy Smodiks out there somewhere waiting to be discovered ? It would be nice to see open attacking football from time to time.

I obviously want to see Tony fighting fit but just for a bit of continuity I hope that Rowett is given a bit of time, if nothing else not to rush Tony back into the job until he's 100%. Rowett was unfairly sacked in his first stint with the club as manager, I want to see him given the opportunity to use the momentum from the last 8 games (where bar the draws against Rotherham and Huddersfield we can say we gave a good fight) to build us back up. But we shouldn't have been able to get into this position to begin with. The owners care a great deal and have ambition which we haven't seen in a long time, but it's unnerving knowing the stinker of a mistake they made to sack Eustace because Rooney was marketable. Was wishful thinking to not appoint a proper interim from day one when Mowbray was taken ill and I do wonder if we'd maybe have done enough if we hadn't wasted weeks with caretaker managers during a relegation dogfight. Also a tinge of misfortune, other teams seemed to pull out the shock results to stay alive that we couldn't, and even when we did it was just too late. Be interesting to see how we bounce back, given our owners have bought the land for the new ground it looks like they're supporting words with actions. But other owners have scaled back post-relegation so let's hope they're not wrong-uns.

See many similarities between Blues and Man Utd. Obviously MU a much bigger club, but both have made multiple managerial changes over recent years, made dud player signings, had unscrupulous owners, lacked any continuity or brand/strategy. Both clubs demonstrated how not to run a club.

All we can do now is take the positives..take this relegation as a way of getting rid of the deadwood, bring in some youth from the academy and invest in good players! Plus it may help to create a better winning mentality for the future! The owners messed up and they realise that but nothing we can do now and no point keep moaning! We just have to Keep Right On as we always do

In my opinion only John Eustace and his coaching team, and a hand full of players come out of this season with any credit. Everyone else has played a part in our demise to a greater or lesser extent. I just want to see a big clear out now as I don't want to have to watch the same players next season. The position of Graig Gardner should come under the microscope as well. Also, I don't want to have to listen to any more discussions about the type of football that we play. All I want to see is WINNING football and if we get out of League One by playing long ball stuff like Watford and Wimbledon used to fine by me! For next season I want to see proven players being signed, particularly up front. Not people who we think might score goals, but players with proven records in League One. One last point. It was our utterly pathetic away record that got us relegated. Our record: Home 36 points - 9th Away 14 points - 23rd Why Rooney, Mowbray, Venus and Rowett couldn't get to the bottom of this says a lot. KRO

Owners completely forgot the squad was in need of more care than the stadium. Or they didn’t and sacrificed the squad for funding and the ability to buy the old wheels site. Players are the worst I’ve seen in over 30 years. KRO, I’ll buy a season ticket as soon as they go on sale.

Time to use league one to forge a team to come up and right from the start be a force in the championship. Clear out all the crap and build an attacking team.

Yep poor team selections against rotherham and huddersfield. But the season has been a pile of crap anyway. We will ship out the dead wood and come again.

i just hope we can bunce back 1st time.. that league is no walk in the park...to most teams we will be a giant killing if they win and will most likely be up for it against us.. plus teams like wrexham will look to crash the party with a team thats been together and gelled long enougth to make it count and most other teams, as we will need to build a squad as we would of done end of season anyway due to contract expiries and now players wanting out (imo always respected players who stay and get promoted after relegation. lets see who are thse types of whats left) kro i hoe we relegate huddersfeild and rotherham, or stop the getting promoted and go up with wrexham or something lol
