A great singer.
Gary Puckett and The Union Gap was one of my very favorite groups. Had the good fortune to catch them in Syracuse too many years ago to count. Thanks for the great music guys!
Looking back to when I was a young man at school, he was just 👍 great, not simply good. Luckily, he received and continues to receive the recognition his voice deserves.

Only last week, he was nominated for Childbender of the Month, by YoungBottoms mag. At least, I think it was him. Actually not too sure about the magazine or the nomination. Was it for "This Girl Is a Woman Now"?
THATS A GREAT STORY GARY.VERY COOL.IT DIDNT HURT THAT YOU HAVE A FANTASTIC VOICE EITHER.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😎
What a great singer. Usually the song makes the recording artist famous, but with Puckett, the singer made the song famous. Still looks great! I met an artist in CO that knows him personally , and he told us Gary was a Christian and a nice neighbor who likes his (the artists, A. Goldfinger) paintings too.
Great story ! Thanks, been a fan since the song came out when I was a teen 🙋♀️😎
Thanks for Good Memories Gary. Love you always. ❤
Met Gary at a Pastoral Meeting in San Diego shortly after his conversion experience. This was 1991- ish. He said his goal was to "make the name of Jesus famous". Good to see Gary still out there doing the thing. God bless

And for 77 he still sounds incredible. YES, his voice is a little different but things change as we get older. Happens to all of us. I'd still choose Gary Pucket over today's so called music. And he can still hold a note, in tune for 2 days! Unbelievable.
Gary Puckett is indeed one of the best singers ever!! I was fortunate enough to see him in concert at the Minnesota's State Fair. Love his music 🎶!!!

I recently got him to say Merry Christmas to my mom on Cameo. She was so excited, and he was so kind. Truly a gentleman.
Thanks for sharing your story Gary. Fully enjoyed seeing you in concert and continued success with everyone on the Happy Together Tour.

Although obscure.....I really like their song....Home. Big fan of the group....Like the history lesson.

I can't help wondering which bowling alley. In the Musicians HOF interview I think he say "The Quad Room" at a bowling alley. I bowled at them all, but was too young to pay attention(nor get in!) to the bar. What a powerful voice Gary has. Still looks in shape at 77! Thank you Gary!
Brilliant! It's all about the show baby! Great history of the band!
The first song my band wrote and recorded was called "DON'T PLAY." We sent it to all the stations... and well...
Gary seems like a very nice guy and I was lucky enough to see him with the Monkees, Herman's Hermits, and the Grass Roots at a show in Pittsburgh back in 1986 and it was excellent!
!!!Your STILL a handsome guy & your voice -- YOUR RIGHT UP THERE WITH GINO. VANELLI ... 💋My mom loved your songs too I think of her when I hear you .... 6/20/21

Loved his idea to rent a jacket and go to TJ for copies! Brilliant!

@@jenpeterson3712 Fair enough.
I have always loved his melodic singing and the bands smooth style coupled with the really cool Civil War Union Soldier themes. I didn't know at the time, but in the early 90's my wife and I lived in an apartment right next to the 'Clairemont Bowl' bowling alley, the very place where they performed in the 'Quad Room' lounge, where they signed the record contracts in 1967! Sadly the bowling alley was torn down in 2005 and replaced by a mini strip mall.
@Ndlanding
3 жыл бұрын
I guess there's a moral in that story. Firstly, you didn't know where you lived. Secondly, bowling alleys are not often conserved by the R&R Hall of Shame, and thirdly, a strip mall (Eh? How many strip joints???) is appropriate for songs like "Young Girl" and "This Girl is a Woman Now".

Someone asked me how many number one hits did Gary Puckett and the Union Gap had and I replied he had a lot of number one hits with me 😊

I HEAR LET IT BE PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND.
You are one of my favorite singer and band. Did you get the name Union Gap from Union Gap, Washington? I was told that. I live near that town.
In the early nineties i was at a State Fair at the Arizona Fairgrounds near Tucson. Gary Pucket happened to be performing their. He has a group of younger L.A. musicians with him and they were performing on a portable stage. They did most of his hit songs by the Union Gap, but Gary Strapped on a Stratacaster and i thought this might get interesting. He did a song i just heard on the country charts that year called,' That's my story' ( and i'm stickin to it). After singing a few verses Gary picks off these bitchin lead guitar riffs reminiscient of Eric Clapton. I thought Gary has been hiding some hidden talent from us. He is a great guitar player. May he does not think he is, but he sure convinced me.
brother played 4 the Twins.
Gary Puckett is a pretty decent bowler these days. I run into him once in awhile at the bowling center in Florida where I bowl in leagues and tournaments. Speaking of bowling, here's my latest video of my favorite bowling song: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaueqruNqqSuldo.html
