Nick Wallace Well, at least he's not limiting himself to pentatonics (so maybe King might actually learn something from this after all). But yeah, Holt is a good rythm guitarist and decent songwriter (for Thrash Metal. Just don't let him write the lyrics. His lyrics in Exodus gave me an aneurysm), but his lead playing isn't exactly the most inventive or interesting out there. And let's be honest, he abuses the wah pedal just as much as Kirk Hammett. Hey, it's cool, it's Thrash Metal after all. Not a genre generally known for being technically demanding...

I really tend to forget how talented this guy is. He has definitely earned the right to saturate his tone and shit-whip that bar as much as he fucking wants. I wasn't born till 95, and after my whole Metallica phase "metalhead dues" I became and still remain a devoted Megadeth and Dave Mustaine fan. Exodus and Slayer still give me chills though, as does Testament. Point being, this bastard is a metal monster down to his bones. The sounds he cultivates are pure wickedness, he hasn't abandoned a single bit of his edge in 30 years.

It is actually an A note with heavy panned and delay effects. It is indeed a joke as he says I don't mean to yank your chain. Gary has an incredible sense of humor.
@honigdachs.
8 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's a G. Delay and panning don't pitch down the sound by a whole tone. He probably calls it an A out of habit, because he's playing the 5th open string, which in standard tuning is an A. His guitar is tuned down a whole tone, turning the A to a G.
@dkyelak
8 жыл бұрын

*Thrash Metal royalty here. I still can't believe that I have the Fabulous Disaster & Bonded by Blood TAB books which were only recently transcribed. Thanks Gary & Exodus, Metal to the end \m/*
Not a fan of this kind of music, but he sure can blaze. I do watch these vids for help in developing speed. These guys make it look so easy, but they've put thousands of hours into their craft. Much respect.

It is actually an A note with heavy panned and delay effects. It is indeed a joke as he says I don't mean to yank your chain. Gary has an incredible sense of humor.
@honigdachs.
8 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's a G. Delay and panning don't pitch down the sound by a whole tone. He probably calls it an A out of habit, because he's playing the 5th open string, which in standard tuning is an A. His guitar is tuned down a whole tone, turning the A to a G.
