I totally agree with the comment in the video about the clothes. Cooper looked incredible and totally comfortable in everything he wore--cowboy outfits, suits, tuxedos, military uniforms, and period costumes. I've yet to see a leading man from his era or any other era who can rock as many different looks as he did. He had striking proportions and looked like a male model even before there were male models. The scene in Peter Ibbetson where he's wearing a tuxedo and walking down that beautiful hallway with the paintings is visually stunning and just one of the many examples of the beautiful cinematography in that film.

Gary Cooper was so far ahead of most actors in his era, because he knew the key to acting was not acting, but just "being", the character. His style was not acting at all, just being the character in the piece. Years later, Brando, Dean and others finally caught on to the idea that acting was a waste of time. All that was necessary was simply being the character and not acting at all. Gary Cooper was a star because he didn't act, he simply "was".

As for me, Cooper has always been the handsomest and sexiest man ever--in movies or not. But watching the the razor stropping ,and then the rock drilling (from Fountainhead) my poor old gay heart nearly failed. Interesting too that the amount of chest hair is not always the same (yes, I watched those shots closely, including those with the hair peeking out of the neck of his shirts). I wonder who made the decision to sometimes remove some chest hair? Whoever it was was sure some kind of one sicko. Thank you for this amazing vid. My heart is still racing!

Got another apple scene for you. Go look up Now and Forever with Carole Lombard and Shirley Temple. There a great scene with mr Cooper eating an apple and reading a bookon parenting. Now that was hot.

ya, for a cheating scoundrel who left his family for Patricia Neal. But his wife still took him back when Pat left him when he got stomach cancer. of course, Neal said that she did the noble thing. uh huh. Nothing says love like a long suffering wife.

The reason he and Patricia didn't stay together was for his daughter. He and Patricia loved each other. And he contracted cancer 14 years after he and Patricia had broken up. By the way he had prostate and colon cancer not stomach cancer.

He asked his wife for a divorce, he and Neal wanted to marry, but his wife refused to give him a divorce. Don't blame Paricia Neal...it takes two to tango! They really loved each other, but when Neal saw the situation was hopeless and that they couldn't be together, she ended the relationship. He had ulcers then, didn't have cancer diagnosed yet.

@@marygoodson4920 I thought she looked great in the Fountainhead, especially in that scene where she's wearing that gown and walks down the stairs. Also, she, Ingrid Bergman, and Lauren Bacall were the only female co-stars that Cooper didn't totally dwarf.

I disagree. Neal was a beautiful woman for a long time and an intelligent actress as well. She was still hot in "Hud". You could well believe that both Paul Newman and Brandon DeWilde's characters would be in love with her. Kirk Douglas dated her and his only complaint was that she was depressed that Coop wouldn't leave his wife for her.

Patricia Neal was beautiful at that time in her life and quite a talented actress. The Fountainhead was a masterpiece of writing and acting. I admit, Coop could have had anyone he wanted. It was just unfortunate that he was married; it took such a toll on his wife and daughter...really on all involved. Affairs are such sad, sorted and hurtful things...
