The problem is and not just between Gary and Gary but every single player is different, they can play the same position but will always play it differently. So yes you can say that this person is better than this if it’s clear but when it comes to the legends of the game they are all equal, you just can’t pick

For almost 10 years he was by so far the best player in the comp. Best to ever play in my book. It's criminal that he only has 2 brownlows, he should have 5 or 6

U serious mate? By far the best in the comp. Another player called buddy franklin is also there. Buddy is the best of this generation. What he can do for a guy that's 2 metres is freaky. Only reason some people say ablett is coz he plays for Geelong and his dad. If buddy was white I'm sure they would give him more credit.

@@omaraz3161 There's no denying buddy is and has been an absolute star, but I'd have to hand it to Gary as being the best I've seen play and honestly really doubt race plays a part in many peoples opinion of Buddy, since when does he not get enough credit? Blokes an absolute gun and has some of the most memorable moments in modern footy (100 goals in a season and the 13 game to name a couple). Both greats that can win a game single handed. Just play different roles and makes a comparison difficult, personally they're the best I've seen (only 23) play in their positions.

@@ryanwaites6586 look. There have been many gun midfielders who have done what ablett has but there has never ever been a forward like Franklin. He can do anything and I mean anything. High Ex you really need to start comprehending fyfe ain’t that good. Ablett was the best footballer in the comp for 5 years with 15 other star studded sides and played with some of the greatest ever footy players for team mates, and Ablett was still the cream of the crop, fyfe plays with 21 spuds and they think he’s the greatest of all time like he’s taken 4000 marks 2000 tackles 1500 goals 0 behinds 5 premierships 5 brown lows 5 norm smiths with less than 100 games to his name.... no... he’s a flog who’s umpires pet. Ablett leaving Geelong was the biggest let down. The dynasty would have rolled on, but he copped out. So did Bomber Thompson. One big let down.

Nice video but these clips could've shown a lot more of his elite midfield work and creativity along with his next-level handballing. It included some but this video is mostly all about his goals. GAJ's balance, skill and footwork is what I remember the most about him. Definitely worth showing his freakish goals but that wasn't what made him the best player in the game. A lot of afl highlights seem to just focus on goals unfortunately.

If Babe Ruth spent his best years playing badminton or if Don Bradman didn't captain "the immortals", there would be Gary Ablett. And then we'd still have to discuss if we were talking about the father or son. When you watch highlights like these, or his dad's, the debate is over before it started.

100% correct. Shortened his career by getting banged up , doing his shoulder and carrying a bottom four side for 5 years with no real help. Cats would of definitely won a couple more flags if he had stayed.

He would've helped to grow a suns supporter base, scored a Brownlow, got paid a stack of cash. The move was good for the game and was good for him. 357 games, hardly a shortened career.
