Thank you so much for sharing these images! Very encouraging, and insightful in every way! Just beautiful in balance, harmony, colour and design! And how excellent to have on display the original preparatory drawings too... Such a prvivilege to see that extraordinary commitment to excellence! Remarkable❤

It's quite an ensemble isn't it. And the preparatory drawings are, in my opinion, a greater highlight! Thanks for your lovely comment and so pleased to read you enjoyed seeing the clips I put together!

In Texas you have the Painted Churches Tour, east of San Antonio. These are Catholic churches that are painted and were founded by German, Polish, and Czech settlers to America.

I have to admit I'd hoped the paintings were going to be medieval, but they're really good in their own right, and it's a really beautiful restored church. I love that the Victorian artist did a decent impression of medieval art, but also included obviously anachronistic details like a pineapple and an anatomically accurate giraffe (rather than a 'camelopard'). I wonder whether they were just mistakes, or if they were done deliberately as a private joke?

Thank you for a superb video. Having passed the Norman Church sign on the A614 for 20 years, I diverted one day to this church. Nothing prepared me on opening the door. I started a 12 month quest over the lockdown period and I photographed all the churches along the A614 from the M62 to Bridlington Priory and had two copies printed. All started from that visit.

Thank you! And your lockdown project sounds fascinating! There are some truly special, old church buildings along that road and off nearby lanes!

When I was in Yorkshire (2005/6) I asked for directions to Garton. Along with the route info, my informant added 'I hope you know it's all Victorian...' A quite incredible interior and you've done a great job of showing it off. Top class job !

Thank you for the video. I knew this church was decorated, but had *no* idea. Very much a must-visit. I was particularly taken by the glimpse of the roundels in a frieze below the windows, having visited St Mary the Virgin at Houghton-on-the-Hill in Norfolk which had been left for derelict until saved by a man who refused to accept "No". The very early wallpaintings he discovered had those same roundels of saints, more or less in the same colours. Fascinating.

Very interesting and thanks for sharing your thoughts on the comparison with Houghton on the Hill. The medieval precedent is certainly very strong in the 1870s design from Clayton and Bell.

That is fabulous, thank you for sharing. I would like to point out that the background music is very loud. Unfortunately for those with hearing loss it makes it difficult to understand everything you are saying. That said thanks again, it is well worth a visit.
