2:55 Holy shit, what a wonderful detail. He uses a latin expression, but is afraid the stupid reader won't understand it (and thus won't appreciate his genius), so he immediately translates it, ruining the sentence. Top notch character work.

They really threaded the needle on his level of competence. He's basically cribbing all his sayings from interview soundbites form real writers (like his entire character is just a rip off of Stephen King and 70's and 80's horror writers in general) , but isn't really smart enough to own the good parts of them and throws in a bunch of just tripe that's just his incompetence being misrepresented as aspirational.
