Garth Brooks Leads Standing Ovation For Nashville Students Working To End Gun Violence

"Gun violence touches every single one of us." Garth Brooks and Kelly talk with Vanderbilt student activists and March For Our Lives organizers Brynn and Ezri, who are working to end gun violence in the wake of the Nashville school shooting in March. Brynn and Ezri share their experiences growing up in the "lockdown generation," and share how they've helped organize national walkouts and daily protests at the state capitol in an effort to inspire change. Moved by their amazing work, Garth leads a standing ovation for the girls, and Kelly donates $10,000 to March For Our Lives.

My niece is in school in Nashville and she is into acting, she and her fellow classmates went to the principal about taking about anything to do with guns in any of the shows they put on and then she made a speach about it before the first performance they put on the other night...i hate they feel the need to do this, but im so happy my niece is strong enough to make a stand even when the adults are acting ridiculous!!

The song The Change both the song and the video, especially 1 certain little kid they showed thatbended up dying a day or so later, that child made both my dad and i cry so hard. I was in the 6th grade when the OKC bombing happened. I remember being in the library at my school doing something for my teacher and our librarian had the news on. I ran to get my teacher to show her what was going on. The librarian called our principal and had him come in there. We all just stood there and cried. I had a cousin in a hospital in OKC and it busted the windows. My aunt hauled ass to checked on him. I applaud these girls. I'd be there with y'all!!!! Love to you both

His school has had more than a handful of threats not just to his school but to all schools in the district. I hate that I have to send him to school but being in public school is something that is his choice and the minutes he asks for change I am doing it. My sons life means so much to me. I would take a bullet for my kids and all my friends and loved ones. Hell I would take a bullet it for a stranger if it meant saving a life.

Australian and I applaud these young ladies, taking time out from university classes, trying to with the community, have the elected officials look at meaningful change to stop/ help prevent gun violence, especially in schools. Unfortunately a school in my state in Australia had a shooting incident just recently where a 15 year old student took his parents hunting rifles and hot at the school during a school day. No one was physically hurt. This young man is in custody for now, awaiting trial, but from all reports he has some mental health issues, which are and will be addressed by his parents, doctors and the law.

And I walked out worrying what if someone called in a bomb threat to get us outside to shoot us? This was a very average suburban high school. And I only dealt with this in high school mainly. I didn't do these drills in kindergarten. We need to fix this. I don't know how, given our politicians but we need to fix it.

We were only blessed with one child. She just had her 1st year as a 7th Grade English Teacher. We worry about her every day. The 1st thing her Daddy said, when we saw her classroom was, "Ok, Do those windows open and what's your exit strategy?" I've been searching high & low to buy her a huge bulletproof white board on wheels. It's friggin INSANE that only HALF the country is on board to stop this gun crap!! But on the same hand, she had about 20 instances where a 7th Grader got mad and broke every mirror in the bathroom or kicked holes in the wall or threw a desk against the wall so hard it shattered. They send the kid home then his IGNORANT parents come to the school screaming that their kid is FINE and all the teachers are just picking on him.

I was born in 1962 in Sacramento, CA. In the 1970’s I was a early morning newspaper delivery boy. There was a man who would jog on cold foggy mornings and raped many boys (8-10) before he was caught. Last name Phelps. During this period we had the East Area Rapist that was recently identified. He committed over 40 rapes and several murders throughout CA. During this time we also had the Vampire Killer, Richard Trenton Chase, a serial killer in this same neighborhood. What’s changed since then???? I’ve always had evil people around me.

@@moistveronica6843 you're absolutely wrong. Take anything that's already illegal, say heroin for example. People still get, use, sell and make heroin every day. You know who isn't doing that? Law abiding citizens don't, that's who. Only criminals do. So by you saying that increasing gun laws will slow or stop gun violence is completely ignorant. It will stop law abiding citizens from having guns while the criminals who still want them will find a way to get them. They don't care about laws. It's very hard for me to even comprehend how people think increasing laws will stop criminals. Mind-blowing.
