I look back at Slender and FNAF with a moment of happiness, but when this game came out, it was not it. It sucked so much, the gameplay is just awful. Honestly, some roblox games are pretty decent, as someone who’s worked on a roblox game, I know what gets put into them, there are some good horror games made by people that aren’t popular, he’ll look at unknown memories. Yeah it’s based off fnaf, but it’s voice acted, has custom models and animations, and overall doesn’t look like it’s made in roblox.

I remember a while back, maybe a year or two? I saw in almost every store at a shopping centre in Scotland, bootleg huggy wuggy plushies, and cheep plastic pop-it toys. I was shocked that they were at the window of Clarks, a well known shoe store. I hope this does not happen again with banban.

Speaking of Mascot Horror, Tattletail is extremely underrated and overlooked today. I get that it did have a rather significant impact on the internet when it came out, but Tattletail really was one of the first really good responses to the Fnaf series and proved that the mascot horror genre wasn’t a one time thing. It’s simple, spooky, and plain fun, and that’s all it really needed to be.

At first, I was with the parody crowd too. ...But then I realized that the merch store is real. Had it just linked to a parody page with clearly farcical items, then yeah, it would have been obvious what the intent was. But because they had merch ready to go from day 1, it's even more obvious that this is a quick cash grab to capitalize on Poppy. Then they acted all butthurt on twitter, and after that I have no idea how ANYONE could still think this is satire.

Firstly, many of your points are hard to argue with. But that is because they are just generalizations and don't talk about any of the specific problems of the games. You can't expect me to respect your argument if you don't put evidence into it. Secondly, I'd tell you to stop attacking Garten of Banban but I can't, because nobody can take away anybody's freedom freedom of speech, which means that you have no right to silence my opinions. Thirdly, the Euphoric Brothers didn't expect their game to go popular when they first created it. They expected it to stay pretty small like many other games and only get a few players.

Garten of banban is truly one of the horror games of all time, the characters were characterized, the models were modeled, the plot was written, and the game was made. The best part was when the opila bird said "it's birdin time" and birded all over the kindergarten. Truly one of the horror experiences ever

This is the first time I've seen a game where it was genuine but people thought it was meant to be a parody or a joke because of how bad it was, Jesus christ

Piggy started off as a joke game based on Granny/Peppa Pig. It wasn’t intended to be popular, but it gathered an audience. It actually has a lot of passion put into it, it’s not incredibly scary, but in Book 2, which no critic usually gives a chance, it picks itself up and becomes a story driven game. It later got merch because, well, why not? It also moved itself away from peppa pig to become it’s own thing (and not wanting copyright potential). Say what you please about the game, but it doesn’t deserve to be compared to Rainbow Friends.

Some game jams allow you to use pre-made assets but I think most don’t. Game jams also challenge devs into trying out new things, and maybe this game was them trying that out. So maybe this wouldn’t get hate if it was in a game jam? Probably not, as it does lack design and quality.

Garten of Banban’s lack of effort hurts me in more ways than one. I used to be a janitor at an Elementary school after hours and I can tell you: An actual horror game that takes place in a school has a lot of potential (Baldi doesn’t count). The place was actually terrifying when all the lights were shut off, especially the bathrooms; gave me Slender vibes. If someone wants to make an actually scary game in a school, by all means it still has potential, and I do wanna see one with ACTUAL EFFORT.

Their goal is to end up like Fnaf, Bendy, or Hello neighbor. Have some big youtubers like Markiplier to play it, have it absolutely blow up, and eventually settling down with a faithful audience of 7 year Olds. They don't want to make a good game they want to make a marketable brand

Piggy was not really meant be a game, it was just the creator (minitoon) testing his skill in player tracking and scripting. He mixed Peppa Pig and horror, it accidently got popular and so in chapter 4, he really ramped it up. So no, Minitoon didn't want a cash grab, we wanted to test his skill for scripting.

I feel like nowadays horror isn't even horror, I've seen many times when horror was turned into a kids thing. A classic example is Trevor Henderson's creations, I've seen so many creations just being turned into something else it was completely not meant from

You can tell that the out of place, super slow drone and the weirdly tight security for a daycare/kindergarten is just there to pad out the game and increase the amount of time played.

Gotta say, I do enjoy the way the bird creeps forward. Hesitant, not sure if you’re going to try to fight it or run away. But as soon as it knows you’re scared, CRUNCH. Besides that…meh.

Indie horror is the opposite of metroidvanias. While one is genetic bottleneck, the other allows growth of two perfect specimens that lead to wildly interesting offsprings

Love how he mentions a theme park as a locale for one of these games would be good, then you remember Rainbow Friends kinda is a theme park (or at least seems to be building towards a theme park location for a later chapter) and then you get worried.

Piggy was a joke game that didn't even intend to be popular, but just took off. Sure the gameplay might not be that good, but the game takes a storyline focus and that's what makes it popular. It was based off of granny, but wasn't really trying to be scary. The developer isn't even that bad either, he actually has great humor!

Actually since you brought up games made by small dev teams there are some really good indie horrors made by just a person or two but they tend to not be mascot horror. I feel it may be an age thing as a lot of indie horror I see is PS1 inspired so I assume most people making them are in their 30s (and thus a little too old to have grown up on FNAF). Hopefully as the years go by there will be a shift towards mascot horror being less soulless cash grabs and more passionate devs that actually grew up on those titles.

Wanted to note that the game Signalis was also only made by 2. If you count the band they had do soms of the music then itd be 3.

The other day, I saw a young kid at an elementary school with a huggy wuggy plush... If I see merch for garten of banban walking around the streets, I don't know what to say.

2:54 Funny enough, I had an idea for a horror parkore game taking place in an amusement part. Although, I'm still trying to improve in game devolopment. Working with GameMaker Studio 2 as of right now. Edit : I'll add a skybox, don't worry. XD

this game feels made with the same intent as hello neightbor, which is just to produce content and make money out of it, but at least hello neightbor had at least someone midly skilled at making the 3d models this game is the equivalent of the morbius of indie horror games there is no actual effort put into it, no passion, no intent of making anything, no story to tell, you can see from a mile away that not even the developers liked even just a bit their own characters and just put them out there to make money

Watching mark’s outright on his BanBan play through was incredibly hard to get through

1:11 actually piggy was originally made as just a little joke by the creators, but the popularity came as a surprise to them. Rainbow friends though, yeah that was definitely made for money

Poppy Playtime made a serious comeback with chapter 3, as they balanced the horror and merch aspects so well

If this game was created solely to be a satirical joke about indie horror tropes, I would have loved it to death. It serves that purpose exceptionally well. However, sadly, the developers seem to believe they have the next fnaf on their hands. They want us to take this game seriously.

I actually find it scary for one reason: liminal horror. The kindergarten look like a one liminal space image. It feels relaxing but at the same it’s terrifying

I mean sure. Poppy is a cashgrab made just to sell toys to children... But at least the game has a minimum of "QUALITY". The ambience is dark and claustrophobic and the "monsters" even if basic they don't look like _"How to make a character 3D model Tutorial 1/5"_

There is a game I’ve watched that unfortunately, makes Garten of Banban look as if it was a good game (and I’m not saying this to offend the devs or anyone). Hide Time. A game that is heavily inspired by Poppy Playtime that does not look fun to play. But yeah, this is an awesome video. And I do hope mascot horror devs can start to make great games again.

Honestly it's not even a game. Ban Ban and Poppy should have been classed as demos, nothing else. The money grab b.s. is getting old.

*_Garten of Banban_*_ is what happens when you take Poppy Playtime and you fire all the talented artists involved in that "Ponzi scheme" of a videogame._ Once all cool animations and sequences are removed you get a poor excuse of a Scape Room made for kids to watch on KZread to buy their new bright colors funny but spooky character.

Have you tried Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion from 2014? It's pretty good if you get the HD renovation. The original isn't the worst, but some things are easier than in the HD renovation.

This """"game"""" basically makes Poppy Playtime an "author creation" a "masterpiece of horror gaming".

We need a game where the monster is just a heartless creature that no one could sympathize with, No tragic backstory, No motivation, Just a creature that wants to rip your skin off, That it's what a horror game is like

dont rag Piggy because it wasnt made to be popular. Roblox is full of "meme games" like how Piggy started; basically finnicky tech demos with some twinge of absurdity to them and repetitive, limited gameplay. this is cause you cant do a full AAA game level production on your game idea by yourself, and some people just want to make a fun little test build. Piggy was supposed to be a funny granny peppa pig spin off, and then it blew up, so the devs kept making content. as far as I know, the dev(s), Minitoon, r pretty nice. its a classic roblox game. tiny community, tiny premise, and a lot of love (usually).

To be honest i think 123 slaughter me street was actually really good and unique as a mascot horror game although repetitive in the first game tye monters were actually scary looking plus tye story is actually decent.

i know this is incredibly random, but you mentioned my favorite little game called iconoclasts and I got so happy.

Once I browsed the Multiversus discord, and they have a section where you can request a character being added. Usually characters requested are either a "please can you add ___" or "___", but someone made a full ESSAY on how the fuckin bird from banban should be added. I thought it was a joke, but they responded to people asking how that would work if Multiversus is owned by Warner Bros, with vitriolic disgust towards the idea that their character couldn't be added. I can't believe the devs reacted to criticism in almost the same way

I've said it a lot on other videos that cover this game. There's other better Indie Horror games that have come out but they never get recognition in favor of crap like this. Look at at games like Alisa on steam it's a resident evil like that does eldritch horror and killer dolls or Lost in Vivo by KIRA. They're one of the best indie horror devs like ever. The ocean is vast but people keep casting thin nets and catching garbage like Poppy Playtime and this seriously it's not hard to find better games

Well I don't know about Rainbow Friends, Piggy was made as a joke between the developer (Minitoon) and his few friends. Then it gained massive popularity and it is what it is today

Piggy wasn't made for money, it was originally a game Minitoon made for him and his friends but people liked the concept so he kept going with it.

The reason Garten of Banban looks nothing like a Kindergarten, is because the creators are banned from entering them within a five mile radius.

Dark deception is another great horror game that is ignored by many people. It combines pacman with a very unique horror experience including monsters inspired from classics. The game is pretty big with solid gameplay and AMAZING graphics. And the game was made by only 3 people. Its a shame that its being overshadow by poppy playtime and even garten of banban. Both garten of banban 2 and 3 trailers blew up on millions of views while dark deception chapter 4 views barely reached above 600k. Its infuriating.

I hate this game with a burning passion and I despise the fact that people are giving this awful creation the time of day.

I actually did have some tiny sparkle of hope for Ban Ban until learning more about The Two Stooges. Screw these guys. #freeuhyeah #birdup “Truly indie horror is the most inbred genre.” Beautiful words. 😂

FNAF worked because it wasn't trying to be anything. All these new games are trying too hard be be FNAF. I wish we could get some cool new games that aren't trying so hard to mimic something existing.
