it gets even better: after first encounter, spots on entities become invisible, so it instead leaves a person-shaped shadow of empty space on the walls & floors. that means covering an area in spots will make it impossible to sense when someone is there. Increasing your visibility becomes BAD for you.

you thought garry's mod was already scary? well this lidar mod makes it even scarier.

I love how this map manages to lure you into a false sense of security at the beginning, with the music. It’s somewhat calming, and based alone off the concept of the mod, you’d assume it sets the tone for a calming, artistic experience. Then you shoot the sensor off. The sounds it makes are a tad unnerving, but you look past them. Fast forward a few minutes, you’ve been exploring for a while. And then you have your first encounter with the red man. The immediate shock overtakes any small remainders of that calm feeling you were presented at the beginning, as you start again, the colours now different, with a droning, horrific ambience played in the background. Only then do you start to see the really unnerving stuff. But I think I’ll let you see that for yourself. This is a mod that’s best played blind. So please, go give it a shot. Full volume, late at night, headphones on.

daamn dude, playing this in backrooms map is amazing

i expected the npcs to be only spawned by you when i first seeing the mod then i was dissapointed when there was no npcs then i saw the entity for the first time and nearly died

this mod is all fun and games til the red man shows up

The game this is based off of, Scanner Sombre, does. I've heard it's quite rudimentary though

@@judgefonti5786 theres also countless of comments who say the name of the game this is based upon. Doesnt take a second to find the answer. By the way you see it, the person i replied to is being helpful and the dude they're helping really doesnt know theres a game the mod is based off of. The way I see it is that the OP (which isnt the person i replied to) knows theres a game and knows the name of the game due to them being overly specifc about it being a game. He had a choice to say "movie" or "book" or something, but he specifically stated that its a game. This, is why I think the person I replied to just got r/wooosh'd

I think that's the other play lmao, the only way that you can see them is through laying dots.

it has a max amount of traces it can hit before it starts deleting previous ones, so they probably found a sweet spot of balls that get projected onto surfaces. another thing i can think of is since this detects collisions only maybe the actual geometry is unloaded and so it saves more resources?

Nah, you don't die. What basically happens is that, after the entity appears for the first time, the game tries to register the material, but it fails, and so it basically starts experiencing an error. You're brought back to the game but the colors are weird and the guy is nothing more than a blank silhouette, but when doing scans you'll occasionally run into a silhouette that is the guy having stoof there when you scanned him. He's basically just there to give you some spooks, he cannot kill right now, but man can he seem like he can.

It's not a map... You can use lidar on any gmod map with a navmesh
