This week’s film breakdown analyzes the two Ohio State Buckeye wide receiver prospects Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave as they enter the 2022 NFL draft. Both prospects offer different things to their future teams, so in this episode we’ll break down what those things are and how they can benefit their future offenses. The real question is: which one of them is better? This week’s episode uses the all-22 coaches film to analyze Ohio State wide recievers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

Chris Olave has three consecutive consistent years of production. He is the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns in Ohio State history. That's incredible considering they had David Boston, Chris Carter, Santonio Holmes, Joey Galloway Ted Ginn jr., Michael Thomas. Devonta Smith has a similar build and he had a decent rookie season.

I personally have Wilson higher as well (as my WR3), but as you mentioned, Olave presents the profile of a great Z in a vertically oriented passing attack. What I didn't see as much was not being able to snap off routes back towards the QB, especially looking at some of the nasty comebacks he ran. If you don’t have Wilson as the #1 or 2 your rankings are flawed your either betting on the big body London who has lack luster route running and terrible release package to vastly improve in the nfl or don’t think the acl injury will impact jamo at all

@@Mokuteke I'm sorry, but this sounds like it's taken straight off the standard opinions from Twitter instead of actually basing it on film study. London has impeccable feel for setting up routes and finding ways to be elusive despite his size. He may lack speed to actually pull away once he's gained leverage, but in the NFL you barely ever create several yards of separation anyway and he catches the ball extremely well in crowded areas. Williams obviously has the ACL that he has to recover from, but that's nothing major by modern medicine standards anymore. And he's actually faster and slightly better at working through contact, even if I do like Wilson a lot too.

In my opinion he probably the biggest boom or bust prospect out of the other top 6 Wrs he could either be really great if he use right which there two ways he can be use right. Or he gonna be another big body Bust. The two ways he could be used right is if he plays with a highly accurate Qb such as Arod where it doesn’t matter how much separation he can create because arod can fit it in place only he could get it. Or he can be used as a big slot Wr where he won’t have to worry about press or bigger corners that can match his physicality he would face on the outside

They’re both gonna be great but everyone around the time of the draft is gonna find every little thing they can dream up to nit pick. Both of these guys were touchdown machines and always wide open their whole careers. I mean look at McLaurin, he was a 3rd rounder that no one thought was gonna put out the production he has. Look at Michael Thomas, he was a 2nd rounder and has been a 2 time pro bowler. Most of the receivers drafted before those guys in their respected drafts aren’t even in the league anymore

Big thing that i see from wilson is that he has the same catch technique that DK has which can cause him to struggle with drops early in his career unless he changes that. He claps at the ball instead of using a traditional soft hands approach. Personally the upside is definitely with Wilson but give me Olave, hes more technically refined as a pass catcher. That's also why I'm excited, as a Saints fan, to have Olave. Because he is the opposite of Thomas. Which means he can do a lot of go routes with Harty which will take DBs with them and will open up the field even more for Thomas. And Jameis is good at the long ball.
