Garrard Turntable SynchroLab 95B

Highlights from a recent restoration. There are already a lot of videos on-line covering this turntable so I highlighted a couple things about the operation that don't usually get covered - Hope this helps - Tx

I have the exact same model and the motor sounds like a lawnmower, also the 45 speed doesn't work nor the automatic start. Along with the mechanism, does the motor needs lubrication?

Lots of different issues to address. Certainly a full clean and lube should handle most of it. There is a common problem with these motors where the upper ring becomes dislodged and rattles profusely. check out the video by this guy. I have fixed this issue an couple times. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5ioz4-Dn9vbeZM.html

I put a short 5 part video series together on fixing some of the SL95 issues. Check those out as there may be some useful info

Nice video, I have a Garrard also with a frozen syncho-lab motor, did you happen to make a video on how you repaired it? There is a permanent magnet on the shaft and it spins freely, I'm wondering if it was originally glued to the main armature?

I never think to capture the fixes until its too late. But yes, two turntables I repaired suffered from the same condition. The motor worked but the magnet had become disattached and I epoxied it to the armature. The trick was to look closely at the glue marks so you can reattach the magnet where it belongs. If not the armature will be out of balance. Make sure its in-line vertically from both the front and side view and you should be good. I have another unit to work on so I'll see if it has that issue. Hope this helps.

There seems to be no sign of how it was originally glued. it seems that the copper part is balanced on its own, then the aluminum plate is used to balance the magnet. Seems it spun loose long enough to make it impossible to find any alignment. Seems I just have to glue it to get a working motor that maybe is not as well balanced.
