The most important thing on the R10 vs the GC3 is the spin axis. The spin itself is close, but that spin axis (bottom right on the GC3 display) is VERY different from the R10 on almost shots and that would affect the shot shape big time.

Garmin R10 for me. Its smaller in size (easier to carry to range), better value (less subscription fee), better software (eco system/support), and since its been out for a while you can also get budget one from 2nd hand market cheaper. They are very much comparable in data. But if you really need to have spin data/longer distance drive more accurate, then MLM2PRO is the one you should go for.

MLM2PRO is decent but there are connectivity issues and sometimes that can make it painful. It also misses about 15% of shots if you are outside. I have one and am considering returning to get an R10 just so I don’t have to deal with issues and subscription. This is just my experience in the last 15 days.

Really that is crazy! The R10 is a solid unit, the only issue is the Garmin App is not the best. But you can easily use another app like E6 or Awesome Golf with it. They have subscriptions too but not as expensive. What are you leaning to do?

@@GolfersAuthority nothing right now, just doing research. The rapsodo is nice except you need to keep buying those specific balls and you have that $200 subscription so over time that’ll be a lot of extra cost. The RC4 looked nice but it doesn’t have spin axis numbers so you wouldn’t know if you sliced it or not. The R10 seems to have everything except based on what I’ve seen it can be iffy on accuracy. Right now the plan is to save up for something pricier but better (like a used Skytrack). Thanks for the vid!

I would be curious to see the ball flight comparisons to the GC3. I have the R10, purchased it last year, and I am very satisfied with it. Not sure I would go with the MLM2 based off the annual subscription if I had to do it over. I'm just hoping Garmin releases an update to capture spin axis due to the competition from Rapsodo, which Rapsodo has nailed. The Rapsodo also has slightly better spin rate numbers, but everything else is comparable to the R10.

Yes, the MLM2PRO does a great job with accuracy, which is why I bought it. But why is it that most all reviews of the MLM2PRO use third party software for the demo? It’s misleading. The graphics shown in this video when demoing the MLM2PRO are not included with the product. Rapsodo’s current software/graphics are awful, providing only 2D view and limited metrics in the display. Hopefully, there will be improvements coming.

I’ve watched the video about half a dozen times because I was comparing R10 and Rapsodo club for club hit for hit. There must be something with left to right alignment. When comparing the onscreen of the GC QUAD, to each unit the number I was watching was Launch Direction. Because the R10: Launch Direction seemed to be always about 1* further LEFT on nearly every hit than the GC Quad except for a few which were dead ON. No matter the club. On the Rapsodo: It was exactly the opposite. Each hit club for club on Launch Direction was about 1* further right than the GC Quad. The only thing that didn’t change location (we assume) is the GC Quad. Distance to ball and target we assume were correct but a slight directions variance could be the factor when placing it on the ground (even at the given proper distances). My final note regarding this. The other two factors that seemed in Rapsodo’s favor … Launch Angle were (typically) much closer to GC Quad, the R10 could be as close at times. But the variations were greater for the R10. Also the variations in Spin were greater with the R10. Also distance’s likewise were very good. R10 seeming to have the greatest when there was a big variation. All in all both are amazing for the money. I think seeing the issue with the r10 and Rapsodo alignment if that’s the concern. They may be on par with each other. If we are wanting accuracy for distances. (Especially driver) Rapsodo may be the winner.

  • @125phr

At the moment r10 better value IMO a lot of issues with Rapsodo connectivity very basic driving range not even greens/pins to hit at. Then you have Gspro with r10 with so many superb courses and option to play online in sgt tour . Rapsodo also has the Subscription going forward $200 per year . Have seen chipping is very dodgy with Rhapsodo,r10 is better in that area . R10 has putting albeit with a fiddly setup with webcam and 3rd party software but does work ,no putting with Rhapsodo . Potentially going forward Rhapsodo better with more accurate spin axis and software niggles ironed out ,would use it with Awesome golf as love that app. Skytrak 2 rumoured to be dropping in near future, but most probably in a different price bracket ! Will Garmin continue in this area of LM’s sim golf and bring out a better unit ?

They need to fix the MLM2Pro before anyone can actually talk about this comparison, It seems reviewers units work well on KZread and a lot of the consumer ones are filled with bugs. Mine is currently a paperweight and I’m paitently waiting for a firmware and software update. I’ve played 9 holes and the distances are off by like 50 yards on a drive, The ball also has a noticeable amount of wear to the black spots already. If mine worked even close to as good as his in this video I wouldn’t be looking at the uneekor mini or a used gc3…. Also they have no plans on partnering with GSPro software.

Good summary. I am currently using the MLM2Pro. Quite commonly, I get through 1 or 2 holes on Awesome Golf and then it disconnects. Although I find the lower clubs (PW - 7/6 iron) quite accurate, the longer clubs were struggling. However, after the firmware update to 2.48, my driver has become a bit more accurate. In my original use, I was hitting my driver 200-210 metres total. In my recent session after the update, they were flying 250-260 metres. My recent session was outdoors against a net. My original session was under cover and there may have been connection issues; not sure. Nevertheless, I was happy with the distances from my recent session. Too bad I had to re-connect and start again so often! Frustrating!

I was so excited to get the MLM2Pro and what a waste. Its a cash grab and they lock you out if dont pay. I will stick the the R10 all day. We are amateur golfers at best. Gets you spin rate within 50 rpm each and every hit and then may have a case to pay more. The hype was so over blown with the million connection issues i have, even on version 3. Wprking roght means you have to reconnect every menu you change in like from the range to course. The lack of details like club face direction the R10 has, sending this back and no way getting $200 a year now. With all the hype, i was onboard but yeah will be going back tomorrow and not really about the money and would have happily paid if I thought it was worth.
