Garmin Nuvi 255w replacing battery inside GPS with ebay bought one.
Simple procedure how to replace the often dead internal rechargeable battery in the GARMIN GPS.
Don't forget that these GARMIN models have free unlimited map updates so they are not obsolete and well worth fixing even when the battery is dead. New battery cost around $10 on ebay, amazon etc...

What the hell is a "small star shaped #5" ????? First of all, it's called a "pentalobe" screwdriver... but which one....? They're ALL small... the question is which one fits the screws on a Nuvi...?

You don't need any plastic tool... you can take the label off with your fingernail... and pry the case apart with anything thin (a guitar pick, a credit card, your fingernail, etc.). Just don't use anything metal like a screwdriver or butter knife, as the case is soft plastic and is easily damaged. There are a lot of reviews saying the plastic tool that comes in the kits is so soft, it bends and is useless, so your better off using one of the items mentioned above in all likelihood.
Why do they make them like this? Women don't have these tools just sitting around! And why do I still need a battery when itake plugged into the car lighter? $175. Not worth it. Im bummed.
