Ойын-сауық

My MotorGuide does the same thing. I was about ready to toss it overboard. Good info. Thanks !

Good visual test. Ive noticed this same "go past your mark in reverse then walk back up to your spot lock location". Since we, the public, have non-military grade GPS accuracy, getting to within 3 to 8 foot of your spot lock location is about all the accuracy you can expect. If you open the page on your garmin unit that shows the number of satellites you are picking up it will show you the average gps "error" at that specific time. Ive noticed anywhere from 6' to 19'. This accuracy will vary throughout the day as different gps satellites and number of satellites are overhead. Also, as we encounter here in the Ozarks, being up a creek with high hills on both sides you may be picking up only 3 satellites which pulls down your location accuracy. Ive asked the Garmin help guys a question which nobody there can answer which is also interesting.... Ive got 3 Garmin units plus the Force TM and the hand held. All have GPS heads. If I mark a spot say with my handheld and I'm standing in the back of the boat, which GPS head unit in the networked system is it using as my location. Could be 20' difference from TM head to my standing location. Anyone?

Good question but ten trolling motor is a stand alone gps unit. It doesn’t require fishfinder as to operate. The receiver is in the head. I mentioned that my error was about 9 feet in the video. Thanks for watching bud and great info.

Good test. My force seems to constantly be moving when in spotlock. Rotating around alot and not moving much. Keeps me in place pretty good but just makes a lot of annoying noise.

The reason is prolly your ancchor lock gain. I’ll post the video here for you to review and see if that’s the problem. kzread.info/dash/bejne/n4N1u7urZdzYiKw.html

I have the exact same theory about the refresh rate. I’ve thought this for a while now. What do I know? I know nothing about gps refresh rates. Good test!

Garmin has something similar to a puck but I don’t know if it would hook to the trolling motor.

The jog feature will not work correctly if you have a bad pedal. I don’t know why, because you can’t jog with the pedal, but I had two bad pedals and once replaced both of my forces jogged correctly.

simple answer is that your boat has mass that is in motion and there is no way to calculate all the different boat and weights that the trolling motor will have to push around the amount of drift depends on the amount of thrust required to get your boat moving and then stopping it. different things will affect it like wind and current. getting you within 10 foot is probably pretty good when you factor everything in.

I just had a new force installed on my boat. I have calibrated it at least 4 to 5 times with 85 to 86% being the best I could get out of it.. My problem is what you covered with the boat backing up 15 to 20 feet.. Very aggregating to say the least because sometimes it will come back up and sometimes it just does whatever it wants.. I've been very disappointed with it the few times I've used the spotlock

That’s where mine seems to struggle when I’m in the wind or heavy current it’s like the unit never compensates for either so I spot lock it almost always turns the head 90-180 degrees which puts me off the spot immediately then we run over the top of the spot by 10-12’ and it’s a back and forth volley match never slowing down or compensating for the 10’ it will take to turn back around and return to the spot so basically I get stuck in a tennis match back and forth over the spot with the unit sometimes violently correcting up to speed 10 or so which is pretty quick to make a 180 degree turn if you aren’t prepared . So if I’m understanding you right when I get close to my spot lock point I can semi-assist the unit by taking off and hitting spot lock again when I hastily pass over my spot in hot pursuit of the place the unit thinks I spot locked to 😂😂

The spot lock is always relating to a gps coordinate, so using “the spot” is arbitrary.

It's really not that difficult to understand. If you drive past the bout the tm is trying to spin the whole boat around and it's difficult for it to push the whole boat straight going backwards. It's not how spot lock works. Go past the bouy and stop. Turn the tm 180 degrees and push the boat backwards and push the anchor button
