It's a brilliant watch glad you like it. The Garmin app works brilliantly with it. I do though find it easier to make a route on Strava which automatically uploads it to the Garmin app if set up to do so. The Pace pro is also really easy to set up. I like that you are also able to add food stops/aid stations onto the route if doing a long distance event. Uploading GPX files is straight forward too. My girlfriend has a Woop devise but we both think that the Garmin gives better sleep and body battery info. I never take it off

I tried couple of Suuntos and Apple and oneplus etc etc but this watch...wow. I have the Garmin fenix 6x pro and I love it. 24/7 on my wrist. Everything on this watch is perfect and I looks awesome. The battery is so great. Great vid

Looks like a great watch in ever respect. I’ve had my Garmin 230 for around 6 years and it has been through some crazy stuff with me. It took a massive battering on a ‘Wolf Run’ a few years back which out a couple of scratched on the face but it’s still going strong. Had to change the strap about a year ago, everything else still works like the day I got it. Love some of the features of the Fénix it’s a whole new league to mine, if it’s as reliable you’re onto a winner!

Great review, James and agree the Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Sapphire is the benchmark for GPS watches. I'm also a big fan of the Garmin ecosystem (apps, website, widgets). And Garmin introduced an ultra mode that is separate from their trail running mode that has some sweet new features. Only concern I had was accuracy, which is the reason I changed to the 945. I will take another look at the Fenix 7 whenever that's available.

Glad to hear your thoughts on this watch. I did have my eyes on the 6X Pro Solar Edition, but literally just realized in watching your review that the solar only adds 6 hours of battery life in GPS mode (on top of the 60 that the non-solar version has) but costs $250 more! For some reason I was thinking the difference was greater, so I think I've just decided on the 6X Pro. Glad I watched the video! Well done!

@iPeter thanks man! Ya, I decided against solar when I realized that it just gave 6 additional hours. That wasn't worth the additional cost! I am loving the 6x pro, though! Took it on a 4 day backpacking trip including 40ish miles of hiking (probably 15-20 hours in GPS mode) and never had to charge it the entire trip!

@iPeter Couldn't agree more! I love that I don't have to charge it EVERY DAY! Feels really good when everyone else is asking around for chargers and you don't even have to think about it! 🤣 The functionality of this thing is incredible!

had the apple6 too. daily loading is so straining. now i ordered the fenix 6 pro sapphire. as. you said, it feels more as a watch, looks much better. i am looking forward !

Ordered a fenix 6x pro myself, gonna stalker status my mailman lol

Hi, the time has just come to look for a new Garmin. I have an offer of 6 Sapphire vs. 6X Sapphire only 45 $ difference. Can you please tell me the circumference of your wrist. I'm afraid the 6X might be too big. I am currently using the Instinct with a 45mm bezel. Regards from Norway.

One thing I noticed it seems hard for folks to say is the Fenix watches have that substantial look of power, masculinity. If you’re a runner , Forerunner all day. I tried a lot of these and I just returned a Venu 2 Plus. The Venu has a speaker and mic, which I really wanted, but it LOOKED so small and girlie on my wrist. Apple watches can barely get away with that look bcuz it’s a square. If you’re gonna spend over 400 on a watch anyways, may as well get one that LOOKS the part as well. There’s tricks and sales you can use to get the 6x . No tricks yet for that Fenix 7x monster or the Epix, so I think I’ll land with my 6x

You are definitely an influencer in the best sense of the word. WILDHORSE 7 I bought now I will see if I can afford this watch for my trail runs. Yep another great episode from your channel sir. Peace Peace. 🌻

Nice review. I've been using Garmin watches since my Virgin Active days. I currently have the Garmin forerunner 745 which holds music. It is super accurate and all the Garmin software is so functional and easy to use.

All 6x pro series holds music too. Forerunner supposed to be more accurate on gps and lighter frame as far as I am aware. Both look great and hard to choose.

Let’s just start off by saying that this was an incredible review. Straightforward and clear. Two questions. One, what is the screen size in mm as that’s what they have in their website. Two. Yours Has the amazing green step that they don’t have when I look for it? Thanks again for a great review!

When you wear the watch. Do you wear it snug like it’s recommended by the garmin website or do you tighten it a little more? To reduce the movement is what I’m aiming for.

Yes I do. I wear it as snug as possible to keep the hr accurate. Unfortunately the cold and movement does effect the hr sensor

So I use Apple Watch as my everyday watch, and an bike computer when I bike. I´ve been looking at the garmin Fenix 6x to use s a trainging watch and keep using the AW as my daily watch. What is the pros and cons with using two different units with statistics in mind? Apple health, garmin connect and the syncing between the watches and the iPhone. Am I gonna miss something if I ditch my AW sometimes? thanks for agreat video by the way.

Ditched my Samsung for this watch. Very happy with it.

Multiple watches faces…many nice features….I have the Fenix 6X Pro Sapphire…..battery life is great.

Agree, one of the biggest reasons why I did not even look at Apple is the looks. I have all the other Apple products but the watch does not do it for me.

Great review. Just received mine yesterday. Have you had any issues with the buttons asthe back button mine seems to have a double type click action whilst the other don't maybe nothing but though I'd ask.

@@movemorenowjames when I press the back button it feels like it has clicked buy no response I then push a little harder and then it clicks again but registers. Didn't know if this was supposed to be a feature so you don't accidentally press it but none of the other buttons behave the safe. Apart from that it's a great piece of kit.

If you pair it with one of the Garmin HR straps such as the HR Run, you get lots of extra information. The HR straps are also much more accurate than any Optical wrist sensor.

I've been running for almost 2 years now but I've never thought of buying a smart watch until I've been poisoned with too much Fenix 6 videos this past few months. Hopefully it'll be delivered tomorrow. Now, I just need ur biceps. That's all I'm asking.

I've been using the 6x sapphire for about 2 years now. Such an amazing watch. My complaints list is short. 1- original band gave me a rash and I had to switch to an aftermarket band. 2- It's a beast to get setup since you have near limitless customization. 3- it would be nice if you could see your current suggested recovery from the widgets. You can see it right after an activity but it's only the recovery time for that activity. When you have a good week a d you pushing hard that load compounds off of the load from other workouts and activities being able to see that deficit would be nice.

The difference I think is that maps, wifi and music are only on the pro

Hi, iPhone 11 Pro Max…. So I can see all notifications on the watch but can’t reply. I can answer a call as long as wearing Bluetooth headphone (synced to both the watch and headphones)…. That’s it pretty much.👍

Particular reason to choose 6X Pro Saphire over the 6 Pro? There are so many models. Have not figured out if it's worth it for multi day hikes if I'm already using the GPS in my iPhone. May have to add to my Christmas/Bday wish.

Hi Al, yes. The x has a larger display - I really wanted to be able to see the maps and data as clear as possible and I believe the sapphire glass is much tougher therefore more scratch resistant...

I’m trying to decide right now whether to get the Fenix 6X (non sapphire) or Suunto 9 Baro. I’ve seen the S9 (non Baro) indoors and the display was hard to read - but it is an awesome looking watch though. This will be my first sports watch. What do you think?

Best advice would be to slowly up your mileage each week by 10% , and also do more 1km intervals …

This is true. Quite pricey but …. I do think the sapphire glass makes a big difference and just as a watch looks great, plus high quality. (The one thing also is the brightness, it’s very clear and bright too)

I did as well. Once I downloaded WorkOutDoors, for the Apple Watch, it became very clear which made more sense for me. I felt the Garmin had this rich feature set that the Apple Watch lacked, but then for $6 that completely changed. I like the Garmin form factor more, but the integration with the Apple ecosystem and the LTE, just makes it a more helpful device. And now that I have found WorkOutDoors, the Garmin feels like it just has too many hurdles to clear before it can really compete. Aside from the charging of course. However, I really can’t find a reason to complain about that. The battery life is short, but an hour on the charger and it’s full. It’s just not that big of a deal.

@@movemorenowjames no worries and thanks for the upload. Purely hardware. The Apple Watch has the best optical in the market and is pin point accurate. The new venu 2 hr sensor is very good and if that makes it’s way to the fenix 7, will be a game changer for me

You could knock someone out with that watch lol

Afraid not no, Great watch but can’t call from it - it can take calls with Bluetooth headphones as long as phone is near

Thanks for the feedback… sorry it was not as detailed as others - just a quick one - I am not particularly techy … I have recently switched back to Apple (the ultra)
