Gargoyle Gecko Talk with Philippe de Vosjoli

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Gargoyle Geckos are one of my favorite species of lizards so it was very insightful to get to talk to Philippe about his experience with these geckos. We talk about their natural range, ecology, morphs and more!
Philippe de Vosjoli is the man responsible for introducing our favorite New Caledonian Geckos to herpetoculture in the USA. He was the first to breed Crested Geckos in America and brought over the first Leachianus, Pine Island Chahoua and more! When I started keeping geckos I saw his name in every single book I read so it was a HUGE honor to sit down with him and be able to talk to him. This man is a living legend so talking to him about the history of the geckos that changed the trajectory of my life was surreal.
Once again I would like to thank Mr. Philippe for his time and I hope you all enjoy this pod as much as I did.

So is it possible to keep 2 Gargoyle Geckos together permanently? I know when breeding they can be together as long as they are a smilar size but could you possbly keep a male and female of similar sizes together all the time?

Yes and no. You can keep a breeding pair together but you will need a back up enclosure in case anything goes wrong. (often does)

May be a little off topic but how I was digging in my female crested geckos enclosure and only found one egg by its self and she has stayed chunky even after being separated from the male for 4 ish mouths and I’m worried that she might be egg bound, any tips or thoughts. Thank you!

Feel around for another egg. Although it is rare, sometimes a female will lay one egg. As long as she is hydrated and has a humid lay box I wouldnt worry
