Your garden is beautiful, Lin, very clever planting. I think you must have had dryer warmer weather than here in Cornwall as I've no where near so many blooms out yet, apart from lovely Vanessa Bell in her first year, delighted with her. Thank you!

Lovely video Lin. Your joie de vivre is looking nice. I’ve since moved mine into full sun, it done ok in part shade past couple of years but I’m treating it this year to full sun. Interesting what you say about da new rose. I’ve heard rumour mill saying white and now a red rose. I do hope red but we will see. Regarding it having all 3 attributes… again, I was trying to put money down with gav that the marketing department would trump the breeding department :) but we can only wait and see what they do.

Maybe it’s both white and red. They do two new roses in the past. I hoping they’ll do a healthy red to replace my Darcey Busell🤞🏼

Are you sure you will be able to find any space to plant a new David Austin rose? Your garden is just so full of plants!

Hi Nik. Yes, I’ll find space and I don’t have to borrow my neighbors garden ( like my brother). I know, we are all a little obsessed here😁

Your roses look great. How is your new roses doing. Did Penelope ever catch up to the other new Austin? Didn't you just get a Distant Drums and Princess Charlene? Hope they're doing well. I am getting a Distant Drums and Pompenella on Friday. Very excited about that.

My Penelope is doing well. Has a few buds but it’s still compact. As with Princess Charlene , slow but growing. Distant drums had two buds that are about to open. How exciting that you got Pompenella, where did you buy it ?

You’re so lucky Lin. Like Ken mine just died back to nothing. Received a refund today. To be fair Henry Street Nursery customer service has been very good! Just a shame that I won’t get to see her lovely blooms this year

Do they not make problems for you having roses so close together ? People always say to have roses spaced apart as they will grow? Or is it ok to have them close together?

I suppose I should have more space between my roses. I just have too many 😅. I think being planted in sun and general TLC ( feeding and pruning) is required to compensate for lack of space. I’m going to visit David Austin gardens soon and I’ll see how they grow. May need to come home and tweak my planting.

I have been looking for a Shropshire Lad forever. I keep contacting breeders online for availability but no luck. Today I found out from a prominent breeder/seller that apparently DA is legally ensuring that even after retirement their roses cannot be propagated for resale. Sad. What's the point of retiring the rose if you don't want it sold by others. I am baffled. I'd happily collect your prunings. 😂

Oh no. Shropshire Lad is not often mentioned. If it’s any consolation, Chandos beauty is similar. I heard lots of disappointed people unable to buy Munstead wood and Lady Emma Hamilton.
