Hello and welcome to this impromptu video showing some amazing footage of my garden railway trains being attacked!
Is this the culprit who knocked my 40 off last month.

You are going to have to build a branch line for it to sit on.😜

probably thought the jinty was a Wrenn. sorry....
Brought a smile to my face Dan, looks like he's saying get your railway out of my garden !!
Amazing video, Dan! Thanks for taking the time to observe and record.
As a birder and Garden Railway person this is fascinating, the Blackbird is definitely acting as if the trains are a threat/predator. Bet the nest isnt far away. Never seen this behaviour before !
That blackbird just don't like trains for some reason. Maybe he thinks they are snakes or something.. But it's amazing to watch .

Yes. This bird has done Dan a favour, we are all watching and subscribing if not already.😂
Wrongly or rightly worded i think this video was brilliant because its unique and well captured thanks dan
I remember reading a article about a garden railway in an edition of the Railway Modeller where the author said that you don't realise how much wildlife and there is in a garden and how family pets act. From slugs and snails on the track to mice taking up residence in a tunnel, birds throwing dead leaves onto the track when looking for insects and spiders and webs ending up on the locos as well as the family rabbit running along the track thinking its a train and the family cat deciding that the bridge that carries the railway over the pond is a great place to stalk the fish. Which is why mine is fully demountable when not in use. It takes a little while to set up but it saves a lot of aggravation.

In deed. But lovely to have wildlife around. Slugs even get into our pantry, but we cope.
Yes thats Blackbirds for you. One watched me plant my sweetcorn then proceded to dig up every seed and eat them. Luckily they dont present a problem to our local rolling stock in Tywyn.
Blackbirds are apparently declining in the UK and should be encouraged not deterred. Perhaps a long removable tunnel from the entrance might suffice as the bird will probably lose interest outside the nesting/mating season.
Hi there , he might think it’s a snake ! Good luck with that. 👍🏻🤓👍🏻
Like a Pterosaurus attacking a Jurassic Parc visitor`s Mk1-coach! Perfect movie!
Great funny video Dan, time to run The Black Bird Express thanks for sharing John
That Blackbird was sure F off at the trains. Made me laugh 😂 when he 1/2 entered the tunnel. Made me think he was saying..."🐦⬛Your tea's oot, Come ahead, who's next" Thanks for this great comical vid, cheers Kevin 🙋♂️👍🤝
Reckon you need a brush prototype on there. Hawk, Kestrel or Falcon would keep him away.
See if you can find a hawk silhouette to cut out and paint from the plywood you have there. Might deter the blackbird perhaps?
maybe he thought it was a slip coach that stopped short of the station and he was just trying to help out lol
The bird probably has a nest nearby and sees the trains as a threat to his young.

Yes I was thinking this too.
I have plastic garden mesh around the outside and inside of my 3 feet high garden railway test track. I used a staple gun to fix it to the decking boards on which my track is laid. The mesh is cheap but takes time to cut the lengths and height required. I too have had a blackbird swooping down on running trains but it never made contact. Thanks for all the videos 😎👍🏻
Great video Dan Jeff at branch Brothers
The bird is a reincarnation of Marple’s and Beeching, he is trying to shut down your railway. Probably wants to build a motorway over it.
Great funny video - I reckon this Black Bird is an aggrieved competition entrant who didn't win so he's taking his revenge 🤣😂
I like what you put at the end of the video
I think you are right, from it's stance I would agree with territory protection. Quite why an inanimate object should attract attention I'm not sure. He must have learned to associate it with the moving trains. And possible answer to the 40's mishap. Well caught action. Perhaps a warning to other garden operators, of whom there are many. 👍👍👍👍
He will stop this game soon. If only he could tell you why. Please be kind to him. God bless you.
His nest could be in garage or he wants to live in garage blackbirds are incredible intelligent and super good at hiding nests I would sit in garage very quiet and there maybe a young trapped

Hi Dan. That blackbird has told you before to get O gauge. Doesn't like oo. 🦅🦅 Thumbs up thumped 👍 ....Pete....
That is ace I have never seen that before lol
Fascinating! I've never seen that, even though I've been feeding the birds etc. by model railway for a few years now. Maybe he sees it as another male blackbird? I have seen blackbirds muscle in on jays who were feeding from the wagons. Also (I've just remembered) many years ago I had an N Gauge outdoor layout and had a blackbird attack a train. Only happened once.
Reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"! Funny though 😃
That's not a bird. That's a winged mini T-Rex! 😃

He probably wants that hole as a nest, perfect size . He probably thinks that object is taking a good nest that he wants
A reincarnation of Beeching or Marples perhaps?
Quite bizarre! In OO gauge this amounts to an attack by a monster bird - the stuff of horror movies!
It's the Giant Claw! (I don't recall the Giant Behemoth or Gorgo attacking a train.) Maybe you should equip your steamers with a smelly smoke unit? Or like Ewhurstgreen said, run some bare wire on the telegraph pole's insulators to form an electric fence.
This blackbird just wants to play trains with you dan!!!!
He needs a name!! How about Mr Beeching? :)
I bet the passengers were scared.
He might be planning to make nest in the tunnel!
great...looks to me that "Black bird has spoken"....lol
Brilliant perhaps he fancied the entrance to your shed as a nice safe nest site . Lucky it was only a black bird and not a Hobby , get it 😂😂😂 for those who don't know a Hobby is a raptor , swift like in shape , a lot bigger and fast .
Build a plastic tunnel over the bridge using perspex
Bird's mate probably got killed by a mainline branch train then it sees smaller trains and wants to retaliate. Hopefully it will stop attacking and give you head peace.😅
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The reincarnation of Maggy Thatcher. She was anti railway.

Much as I hated the auld boot ( her who shall not be named) . Her one redeeming feature ( apart from inventing mr whippy ice cream) Was she was against privatisation of the railway she knew it wouldn't work .

Doesn't matter if was Thatcher or Major, they are all as bad as each other.
It's doctor beeching. He has been reincarnated as a black bird 🐦⬛. 😊 he looks a fiesty one 😂
Should have added Alfred Hitchcock theme from the birds
Start modelling overhead electrics with live catenary perhaps? 😉 _Seriously though, assuming the attacks are only taking place at that one location, a couple of wires strung above the track may offer sufficient deterrent....._ 🤔

Obviously a Scalextric fan 😁.
Mr. Black bird is a friend of Rosa's. That means all pigeons are known as Rosa. Not very keen on the British stuff, because your couplings are on truck/boogie. I have ho (Santa Claus) gauge. My couplings are on the body. I said that to someone running N gauge on KZread. And the said it just has to work. My answer is if a train run on it's roof! Would anybody run a train just because it works! My point is I want a train to act & behave like a train. Not just because it works. It's how rails guide the system.
Bizarre
Yikes it`s RODAN!
He may think it’s a snake
Maybe you need a tunnel guard like the do on the main line
Is it a Luftwaffe bird? 😂
😮
Go for a bigger scale, G would give him a serious headache.
Maybe the bird took the full train for a snake and tried to scare it off!
A bit like Alfred hitchcock The birds
Hi Dan. Don't know if you recall, but this was my guess when the 40 got attacked. I think I suggested it may have been a magpie...
Name the bird "Richard" (those who know history will get it}
