Garbage was formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1994 by producers and longtime friends Marker, Erikson and Vig. All three had enjoyed success as producers of albums during the new "grunge" movement, especially Vig who had helmed Nirvana's "Nevermind" and the Smashing Pumpkins "Siamese Dream". They recruited Edinburgh, Scotland native Manson, of the band Angelfish and previously Goodbye Mr Mackenzie, to be the lead singer. The band is best known for the hits "Stupid Girl", "#1 Crush", and "I'm Only Happy When It Rains". Manson's sultry voice and seductive lyrics backed by pulsing rock, pop, techno and trip hop beats made the band one of the most mainstream and commercially successful bands born from the alternative rock movement of the early to mid 90's. Their worldwide popularity following the release of their second album, "Version 2.0", in 1998 led them to be tapped to perform the title theme to the 1999 James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough". They have headlined several world tours and also opened for Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt and U2. The band is currently on hiatus after releasing their last album of new material in 2005 and a greatest hits album in 2007. Manson is scheduled to appear as a regular cast member on the FOX TV show "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" when it returns for it's second season in September 2008.

Her powerful presence, her confidence, strength, and the way she spits out those lyrics like she literally came to tear your world apart makes me shiver, because she inspires me so deeply. And Bright Eyes + Yeah Yeah Yeahs at the end. God, I love this woman.

Shirley is seriously amazing.Her energy always makes me feel alive and so encouraging.She is one of my favorite person in this whole world.Very thoughtful, caring, honest.I really love lyrics just like tune.And yes all of them are brilliant.
Musical genius...two words tossed around like loose change these days...Butch Vig is a true music genius, and Garbage are an amazing band of highly skilled musicians...not to mention Shirley being the hottest front woman of all time with the vocal chops to back it up. They are hands down the best studio and live band on the planet ! :)

I love how Shirley uses those effects on the mic. Not that she necessarily needs them but it makes the live performance sound a lot better and more like the album.

What a sedate audience...in Montreal the crowd was hovering over the floor!... it was pandemonium with the entire place dancing! And the band played on and on and on. All their songs. It was great and of course, Shirley, love the scots!
