Garba Lawal and the Power of Consistency | Special Delivery | E3
Спорт
Perhaps one of the most understated players in the history of Nigeria football, Garba Lawal takes us down memory lane, sharing stories about small beginnings in Kaduna, discovering his passion for football, and the unlikely journey that followed. From Julius Berger to Espérance Sportive de Tunis, Roda JC, and the Super Eagles, Garba's was the ideal professional on every team he laced his boots. He was a critical part of Nigeria's Atlanta '96 Olympic-winning team and the Super Eagles teams of the late '90s and early 2000s. His rise as a footballer reminded us of the power the game has to transform ordinary people, and his success was credited to the power of hard work. Garba was known as Mr. Reliable. He was disciplined, consistent, and a coach's delight - having the capacity to play multiple positions. A football legend in his own right. This one is for the history books. Enjoy!

Garba Lawal, Mutiu Adepoju underrated but unsung heroes of the eagles golden generation!
The only Super Eagles player addressed as Mr Garba Lawal. That says a lot.
Garba Lawal, the unsung hero of the Super Eagles for more than 10 years. Solid defensive midfielder with an attacking tendency who could score a typical striker's goal as easily as his bullet long range midfielders goal. A tireless work horse in midfield and a great tackler and marker. Every one who ever visited coached the Eagles during his play days found him very useful. A great utility player.
I just like this guy Garba Lawal. He is just so humble. A great agba baller per excellence.
There's a match Garba Lawal played that we all forget to mention. It was the Atlanta 96 Olympic Semifinal match against Brazil. Till tomorrow, people never noticed that Sunday Oliseh didn't play that particular match. Oliseh got a 2nd yellow card in the Quater final against Mexico and missed the match against Brazil. Garba Lawal covered that space so well. I've always been a fan just because of the fact that he is extremely discipline player
This man is epitome of discipline, focus and consistency. Love you Mr Garba Lawal❤
Garba Lawal, Nigerian greatest utility player. He could play any position on the field.
The fact that they remember details of each match decades later is legendary
My uncles use to call the legendary Garba Lawal the "Old War Horse". God bless you sir.
He really aged gracefully. Black really don’t crack. Very handsome man. Well done sir. Thank you for all you have done.
I'm just amazed at Garba's ability to remember details, just wao!. He comes across as a guy who is very humble and shuns unnecessary glamour.
One of the best players that ever graced the national team jersey… May God continue to bless Mr Garba Lawal
Thank you for Letting us to ours Legend again in ❤
Love garuba lawal, he is one of my favourite midfielder
Garba, the utility player, and dedicated super Eagles player. It was great listening to you.

An unsung hero. He made his skill do the talking for him. Ghanaians will never forget this guy for eliminating us from Mali 2002 with his screamer. He was mostly in our quizzes as well. You could spell his surname from back and still got the same result... LAWAL. He is a legend.

I so much love this. Old memories. Master class game plans from Jo Bonfer. Lawal was a warrior on the midfield and he played the best with Jo Bonfere and Amodu Shuaibu
Love this podcast.please this Legend should always drop by the eagles camp to encourage them.like we saw in the just concluded AFCON.
Very enjoyable interview. Didn't want it to end. I love Garba Lawal and Emmanuel Babayaro. I love Elegbete too. Outstanding, likeable interviewer with a very rich knowledge of the game, including historical facts. Well done all of you!

What Lawal said at 20:25 was true. His goal against Ghana in AFCON 2006 was scored from a spontaneous shot. He did not trap or cushion it, he simply let go and in it went.
Lesson learnt be discipline, plan and focus

Mr Reliable 🙏🏾, Garba is the ideal pro footballer, anytime he played for Nigeria I was always confidence I remember him scoring against Spain I think, this guy na correct guy discipline tactical awareness superb. That Spain game was the best not fetish game at the World Cup it was a big shock.
Honestly, most times we talk about the huge money these players make but we don't see the sacrifices they make.
