Great video, I’m looking to do something similar, but make ¾ of the garage an office and keep the garage door portion as a workshop/tool store. Do you find the insulation keeps it comfortable all year round?

These garage conversions are better insulated than your typical home.

Hi there, very nice work. I want to do exactly the same in my detached garage. Its exactly as this video but instead of closing the original entrance with bricks I want to also install bifolding doors there. Do I need to apply for planning permissions and for building regulations? Or is this permitted development? Can you quote me for this?

Great looking work. That’s a similar set up to what I want in Milton Keynes. I’m looking to convert my single garage into a gym room. Was thinking of having bifolds replacing the garage door. Also thinking of an aircon/heating unit to keep the room temperature controlled. Would you mind telling me how much something like this would cost based on the similar work you’ve done? Hi great work, we’re doing a similar project. Did you need to level the floor? If so how did you do it? Ours is unlevel with about 64mm difference either end. Trying to work out the cost effective way of doing it. Thanks

You can just level it out with building sand making sure it’s nice and compacted then put the damp proof membrane over the sand and then the 75mm quintherm insulation. Or just build a timber floor frame then pack it out accordingly.

Do you need planning to add the patio doors facing the garden? Do your conversions get signed off by building regs as part of the price? Looking at a double garage conversion with one door left for a square storage area and the other fixed into place (looking the same externally with an L shaped room inside. Do you come down as far as Hockley?

Hi, You don't need planning permission for the bi-folds and some of our garages are signed off by building control, it depends if the customer wants to spend the extra money. If it's a detached garage like this,then it's not worth the extra cost of building control, unless it will be converted in to a habitable room. A conversion similar to this will now cost approximately £16,500 Yes we cover the Hockey area.

Nice How does the ventilation work ? Is there fresh air coming in from the loft space or something or do you just have to open the door if it gets stuffy ? Cheers

There is no ventilation, just the open door. An extractor fan or vent could easily be installed or a small window, all depends on one’s budget.

This customer was on a tight budget, I would of had a window where the garage door was bricked up. You could have a fan or air conditioning.
