Garage Find! Parked in 1984! 1 Owner, 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet TWISTER SPECIAL!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Our good friend and Ford guru Jim Wicks recently found another amazing piece of Ford Muscle!! Be sure to check out the full Jim Wicks Playlist on the channel for more Twister and Shelby videos and knowledge!
The Mach 1 Twister Specials were super cool cars. These cars were all ordered for a racing organization in 1969. They were all spec cars, same colors and options. The variations were the drivetrains. They made 96 cars and production was split half and half between 351 cars and 428 cars. Those cars were evenly split between automatics and 4 speeds, so 24 cars were built in each powertrain combination.
The racing organization went bankrupt before they took delivery of the cars, so Ford was stuck with all 96 of these cars. The Kansas City Zone Office took delivery of the cars for a special edition only available to the dealers in the Kansas City Zone and the "Twister Special" was born.
Since there were only 96 cars built, seeing one today is a rare occurrence. It is believed that around half of them have been found. This car that Jim Wicks recently found is even a little more special!
This car was recently pulled from the original owner's garage where it was parked in 1984!! The car is pretty much in original, untouched condition!!!! Let's go spend a little time checking this car out!!!
This car is currently available and anyone who is interested can call me and I can get you in touch with Jim! Thanks for watching, Chad 620-786-4428
If you like old cars, trucks, and automobilia, be sure to check out all of my other videos! Please subscribe so you can keep up with the new videos as I post them!
If you have questions about vehicles or parts, the only way to get a hold of me is to call me, 8 AM-8 PM CST, no texts, no e-mails, no messenger, no smoke signals, calls only.
If I don’t answer, I’m probably on the phone with someone else and if you don’t leave me a message, I just assume you're another telemarketer trying to sell me an extended warranty! LOL!
If you comment, message, text, e-mail, etc., don't expect me to find it and don't expect an answer. Thanks for watching, Chad 620-786-4428

I was 18, driving a 1970 440 Challenger. Dad was driving a 1970 428 SCJ Mach I. Shaker hood, Nodular 4-spd top loader, Nodular rear end. Forgot the gears. The works. My car was not original. Dad's was. Dad blew the motor(spun a bearing), had Louie Unser's shop rebuild it. He "Trans-amed" the front suspession. Made the car handle very well. Was a bit lowered, but 100% stock looking. Gold. Or Mustard maybe. If we were side by side at a "light", he'd get me every time, with a good launch. But if he missed his launch even slightly, I got him. This was the mid eighties. My car was not Barret Jackson worthy. Dad's was, but times were tuff. He sold it in around '86, for $4.000. I'd like to have either one of those cars today . . . ✌️😎

I was a senior in high school in 70. I remember sitting in a 70 Torino Twister at Turner Ford in Wichita. SCJ 4 speed if memory serves me right. I looked into getting it but had to stick with racing my 57 Olds. Thanks!

From a distance, l thought the tattered black stripe was a desert western themed look done on purpose for the twister model. Lol, then the close-up revealed the truth.

I know where there’s a 71 gto judge that was put up on blocks in the corner of a garage in the mid 80’s. A girl I graduated with’s mother bought it new and barely drove it and the pinion seal or something stupid and easily fixable went out on it and they just put it away and quit driving it. I haven’t seen it in 2 decades but I’m sure it’s still in immaculate shape, every time I see her mother around town I still beg her to sell it to me, I’ll tip over if she ever says yes! 🤣

This here might be one of the few times where parking a car for decades might have been in the cars best interest. The Cobra Jet 428 would have most certainly have totaled the car.

I prefer the 69 because of the 4 headlights. But those fake side scoops on the 69s were kind of dopey, and take it from me, they could be a real pain. My mom had a red 69 sportsroof 351 4V (don't know if it was a Windsor or a Cleveland) and when I waxed it if I got the wax on the plastic inserts in the scoops it was a terrible task to get it out. The surface is like a closed honeycomb pattern, and it trapped the wax. Dad sold it before I was driving age. My big brother (who did get to drive it) and I loved that car. I still remember the day Dad and I were out in the country on a smooth two lane state highway coming back from his friend's house - he asked me to look over at the speedometer - it was pegged past 120 - and he softly but firmly said "don't tell your mother."

It was for keeping the oil cool when hwy driving, not racing. With 3.91-4.30 gears it's turning 3-3500rpm at 55. That's alot of RPM for cruising and creates heat in the engine and oil .
