Homemade Modak from scratch ❤️✨
I’m showing you how to make the easiest, melt-in-your-mouth, rose & kewra water flavoured modaks at home! It comes together easily and are the perfect offering for Ganpati Prasad!

Ingredients :
Full Fat Milk - 4 Cups/ 1 Litre
Ghee/ Clarified Butter - 1 Tbsp
Sugar - 6 Tbsps
Saffron - A Pinch
Kewra Water - 1 Tsp
Silver Vark - Garnish
Kesar Strands - Garnish
Process :
* To make the Mawa, start by adding full fat milk to a heavy bottom sauce pan or a stock pot & bring it to a boil
* Remove a ladle of milk in a bowl & add in a pinch of saffron to it - mix it well & keep aside for later
* Once the milk comes to a boil, lower the flame & allow the milk to simmer - scrape off the cream/ malai from the edges of the pan & put it back in the milk - keep stirring continuously
* Repeat this process until the milk is reduced to 1/3rd its original quantity
* Once the milk has reduced & the mixture has thickened, add in the saffron milk, sugar along with the ghee - stir constantly
* Allow the sugar to dissolve completely & the milk solids to further reduce - finally add in the kewra water & give one last mix
* The end mixture will be grainy in texture
* Transfer this to a plate or a bowl, flatten it out & allow it to cool down - you can choose to refrigerate the mawa for 10-15 mins as well
* Once the mawa is cool enough to handle, knead & smoothen it out with your palms
* To Shape the modak using a mould - grease the mould with some ghee, close the mould & fill its cavity with the mawa - press it gently until it’s fills the cavity completely
* Open the mould carefully & place them on a plate
* Serve, Garnish with some Silver Vark & Kesar Strands & Enjoy ✨🥰

    You can do rose water for rose modaks, cocoa powder for chocolate and you can also add chopped nuts for crunch flavour! Coffee powder/extract, paan extract could also be an option!

    Yes! you could - cook it for lesser time, preferably use a nonstick pan and add 1-3 Tablespoons of milk as required :) Hope this helps!

    Yes! you can skip it - you can add rose water as well if you'd like :)
