Part 1: • Gangsta Boo on Bone Th...
--------
In this clip, Gangsta Boo reacted to Project Pat telling DJ Vlad that Memphis has a dark energy, and she agreed but added that it's also a beautiful place full of history. From there, Gangsta Boo spoke about Memphis being "cutthroat," and she addressed the level violence in the city staying the same for years.
Gangsta Boo also talked about dropping her latest single, "Sucka Free" for free, which she admits surprised some people. After speaking about living a private life, Gangsta Boo revealed that she'll be in an upcoming reality show, which she said she'll announce at a later time. She also revealed that she'll be dropping a new album soon, which you can hear more about above.

Hate in memphis runs deep in a way that it doesn't anywhere else. The mentality is messed up. People here don't want you to do any better than them, but won't be willing to put in any extra hustle to do what you did to be successful. When they see your shine, they want it & will try to take it. Story of memphis

Memphis has barely changed since Dr. King was killed here. White flight took hold in the early 70's, and that money has never made its way back into the city. The people in positions of power leach their money off the backs of an overworked and underpaid population of people within the city limits. However, those same people put money into outlining municipalities like Germantown, Collierville and Desoto County Mississippi. It also doesn't help that to have anything decent if you're uneducated or unskilled, you have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet. Therein a lot kids are left unsupervised to raise their siblings. Kids raising kids is never a happy ending. It's a total mess, and none of the people who can fix it want to work together to do it. Just my opinion.

I lived right outside of Orange Mound, got friends in N. Memphis off Watkins etc... I say all that to say that I got much love for Memphis. You just gotta know how to move around the city and try not to get caught up. It's a grimey city, but it's real. I moved to Texas a few years ago, but I STILL miss Memphis in a lot of ways. Right. The interview questions that these "outsiders" ask Black rappers are so redundant and cliche. It's like they don't think that our people have enough depth to talk about much else. Like you said, it ain't jack sh** in the ghettos of Memphis that is absent from South Central LA, the Seventh Ward of New Orleans, Liberty City in Miami, Bankhead in ATL, etc. This is just another generic, recycled discussion about Any Hood, USA. It's like these white suburbanites who interview rappers have some a "rough hood" fetish. So unoriginal...

Until we start recognizing the programming that we are purposely engaging in, ain't nothing going to change. The real men in the community need to stand up. But that would mean systematically wiping out of our community all of the murderous, lack of conscious folks in our community - which are legion, unfortunately. And we are so blind as to accept this activity as normal. And then with a straight face holler racism when folks of other races try to rid themselves of your presence! It ain't your color - it is the actions. Some of us know and act with sense but those numbers pale in comparison to the "out of control", lacking awareness folks whom we are composed of. It hurts watching this as it plays out. I am trying to encourage my grands as much as I can. We are fighting an uphill battle, however now it is a war we have waged against ourselves.
