Good job. Thanks for producing this video. My father brought home a .177 cal. break barrel springer of unknown manufacture from Germany post WW2. It’s what I learned to shoot on as a boy. I used it for years and eventually graduated to his .22 rifle and never looked back. Now almost 60 years later, I am back in the break barrel springer business again with GAMO’s Swarm Fusion 10x gen3i. I opted for this model because of several reasons. 1- It was on sale for about 35%off 2- it has the suppressed barrel. 3- Velocity maxes out at 1000 fps. With .22 cal. I need to keep noise at a minimum, so subsonic is a requirement. In reality, velocities in the 700-750 fps range are what I’ve seen on other channels. This, along with modern pellet design should be plenty good enough to keep squirrels out of the berry patch.

Hey Rick, FYI Gamo didn't just remove the back up sights from the Swarm Magnum, they did it to the Swarm Fusion which had a lower comb. Besides that, they also replaced the metal triggers with plastic triggers and they still charge too much. If Gamo wants to make more profit, please suggest that they just provide a better value and bring back the open sights and include three or more magazines and stop including lower quality scopes. If they want to include the BSA OUTLOOK 3-9x40 AO scope that would be great. Otherwise just lower the price. Without open sights we are forced to rely on scopes that are more likely to break due to the magnum double recoil. Besides, as you know, real, good hunters take their time for a good shot with less likelihood of missing or losing their prey due to distance. We take fewer chances by using a blind, baiting, and staying closer to the target. Back up sights are necessary for being a back up when scopes break or get loose, lose zero/accuracy, or fall off. I love my Gamos, and I am a Gamo fanboy. I've owned many, and some with out sights. Now all of my Gamo airguns have sights. Why? Because I still love shooting but I'm older and my vision has gotten worse. Rick, you have their ear. Please strongly recommend to ALL "ADULT AIRGUN" manufacturers to include back up open sights. And also remind them that we may love their products but if we can't afford them we can't afford them. Thanks again. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.

Hey there Ken. I’ve addressed this several times so I’ll try to be brief. Manufacturers that want any shelf space at a major retailer have to deliver what the retailer requests. Right now the only way to get that shelf space is to include an optic. That is dictated not by Gamo but by the retailer. Not only is the configuration dictated but also what they will pay for it and then tell you what you’ll make on it. A company like Gamo really has no say if they want to get that shelf space. Since their business model is based on very high volume (hundreds of thousands of break barrels per year), they have to do what they are currently doing. If not, there are many other manufacturers waiting in line to take their place. With that said, they do have more “enthusiast” models on their website for sale without scopes. Just don’t expect them to hit the big box market. Cheers AGW.

@@AirGunWeb Hey Rick, Thank you for your prompt reply. Now that I know that it is the Big Box Stores that I have to pester, I will. As I may have mentioned to you, Ben, and Angie, and other airgun channels on KZread, I am actually a Gamo fanboy. I've been a fan for many years and have been using Gamo products for years. However, now my situation has changed quite a bit. I now have kids who are old enough to start shooting and hunting, and also, both myself and my 83 year old father have poor eyesight. So not only is it important to teach and stress proper sight picture, but also stress accuracy and humane harvesting, and prevent unnecessary suffering from bad shot placement. This is the first time I actually got a response and decent explanation to my request. In the past five or six years, I have emailed Gamo on numerous occasions, called, and even made such comments in comment sections of the videos. But I have never gotten such an informative response. Thank you for taking the time to inform me. I actually thought that Gamo didn't care because I am just one customer. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.

Rick Great video. I wouldn't have found your channel except I ran into two problems. I bought a refurbished Swarm Magnum 3i as my first air rifle and most of the manuals were missing. The first problem I encountered was I couldn't mount the scope. I finally figured out that the hole on the barrel was too small to accept the scope locking pin so the attaching mechanism wouldn't lock down on the rail. I finally figured that out but it took a while since everything is black. I drilled out the hole and the scope laid flat to lock it down. The second problem I ran into was loading the cartridge. I finally got it once I realized I was holding the cartridge upside down.

This tutorial on scope setup was awesome; thank you! I am new to this hobby - less than six months into it. One of the guns I purchased is this exact Gamo Magnum gen 3i. For better and for worse, there is a lot of information out there online, especially on KZread, with advice on airguns, optics, other gear, technique, etc. I fell into the trap of getting caught up by people online saying how the scopes that come with these guns are garbage and you need to upgrade to X, Y, or Z. So now I have spent money and upgraded scopes that do me no pretty much good because I don’t know how to properly set them up and I can’t shoot for crap yet. It is refreshing that you took the time to speak to new airgunners in a way that wasn’t condescending and also took the time to actually review and teach how to use some entry level stuff to effect, rather than just dismiss it and tell us to spend a bunch of money. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to see the flashy stuff (goals and all), but it’s also nice to hear that you don’t necessarily need that stuff to have fun. Thanks you for this video! I instantly subscribed to the channel.

Too bad to hear on your extraneous scope purchase and frustrations. People on the internet can just recapitulate the same message to sound, I guess, clever, without work, experience or critical thought of their own, can't they? Though I admit I had a bias when I went to go purchase and have been shooting a long time and immediately thought of ways to mount my $2K Leupold VX6 3-18X x 50mm varmint scope. I'm actually kind of glad the young guy at the independent sporting goods store in southern NH, said it's a proprietary rail and that I won't be able to get other scopes on. The scope looks fine to me. I just got the gun. Just mounted it. This was a very helpful video for that.

I have a older Gamo Big Cat 1200. It's still going. My biggest problem is the loud report. It's 177cal and sounds similar to a 22 long rifle. But these newer quiet ones are awesome. I agree with some people posting comments. Shoot 2 tins of pellets first. Once it breaks in. I think you'll be pleased. Also fit a decent scope. A Hawk Vantage with quality rings makes all the difference. 👍 As for leveling the scope. None is needed. Try the flashlight through the scope aligned with a plumb line. Mount a level on the scope that's true to the plumb line and crosshairs. If the level is held true, the rifle shoots straight everytime, at any distance. A guy did a video on this shooting 800yards with the rifle severely canted. As long as the level is centered. It's bullseye everytime. 🎯 This was an excellent video explaining the characteristics of spring guns. Excellent accuracy.

Great instruction. You have a nice, easy, patient "my favorite teacher" way. I just got a Swarm Fusion 10X Gen 3i 2 days ago. Little less ooomph, but same gun. Actually, embarrassingly, I thought I was getting the Magnum in the store in southern NH. Was priced like that. It's alright. I'm hoping the 1300 FPS .177 is a little quieter for sneaky pest thinning in my yard. I'm in Mass, and it's impossible to just hit the Amazon ship button and get an air gun in mail order. And I didn't feel like giving MA DOR sales tax at my local Cabelas. I like you prefer my scope slid back towards my eye so there's no encroaching black, diminishing the aperture. Had to take the ring tops and 8 torx screws all the way off as there was sticky tape underneath. But that gummy tape adhesive helped when rotating in the scope's vertical reticle when shouldered. The Gamo scope instructions suck for mounting. Thank you for this! I learned to shoot on a 1980 Sheridan Blue Streak pump .20 cal pellet gun. Man was that deadly. One question for you or anyone: I took off one of the scope base's rail halves. The plate with the 3 torx head screws on the side. The other half had 2 fine black springs inset in the outside screw holes. Was there a 3rd fine black spring in the middle hole? Couldn't find it if there was. - Thanks!

Impressed with how you make the Gamo Mag in .22 and .177 look like a tack driver. Since the only Gamo I have ever owned has been the Gamo Accu .22 fixed barrel. And it was extremely accurate. Not a powerhouse I believe it shot 14.3s around 660fps but due to the fixed barrel and mid power, it was no way near as hold sensitive as my more powerful Hatsans and even some of my vintage Beeman imports. Ironically, the Accu .22 became my go to gun for backyard varmint control. It's mild power did just fine on up to woodchuck sized animals out to a max of 40 yards. Yes it wasn't a flat shooter, but after learning my mil dot holds out to that range it was superb. Anyways, short story long, it is hard to find an economic fixed barrel anymore and seeing the potential at least of that Gamo Mag, I'm thinking about maybe getting one. I just know that over time breakers have wear and tear and even the highest quality ones barrel lockup tends to not lockup like it used to causing accuracy issues. Does the Gamo Mag gen 3 have a steel breech? Or is it plastic/plastic lined? And does it have a screw that tighten up the pivot point? A Lot of breakers now have their barrels lined in plastic which is not acceptable to me, they will wear faster, no two ways around it...

  • @AirGunWeb

    @AirGunWeb

    10 ай бұрын

Hey there. The breech is polymer. Going back 5 or 6 years, they has some issues with lockup. They have solved that and I’ve not had any issues with the newer stuff. And, if you do develop an issue, their service department will take care of it. If it’s under warranty then it’s no charge (other than shipping it to them) and if it’s out of warranty, Gamo offers a flat rate service rebuild and repair. So, you are covered either way. As for the Accu line. I wish they still had that model available. I have a .177 and .22 still kicking around somewhere. I need to pull those out and do a video on them. I loved my .22 for hunting and pesting. Cheers AGW P.S. GamoUSA has some old school models with steel breech if you want to go that route. Look at the new Gamo Hunter Extreme Pro. Awesome gun.

Thanks for the very good video Just getting back into break barrels. Got a Gamo Varmint had to get a better scope and the trigger is one of the worst I have every used. Ordered a Gamo Replay 10X Magnum IGT Gen2 .22 CAL hope the trigger and scope are much better. With the Varmint I can get 1/2" to 3/4 " groups but with that trigger it is very hard, and did switch to a better scope but still not the best it is a Tasco Air 3-9X40 with focus 10 to 100 yards. But shooting dead center for 5 targets one day and the next high right re sight and again shooting dead center 5 shot groups and 5 targets, then yester day shooting all over the place 1" and 2" groups at 15 yards. and again high right, just put it away and am going to try again to day and see what happens, and work on my hold and hope better but with that trigger have to really work on it to get good groups. When my new one comes will then see if there is any thing I can do with the trigger on the varmint. I also find the Varmint very loud, from the spring, and for some reason seemed to be louder yester day. Again thanks for the Video will work on my hold and do my best with that trigger, would be nice to see how to make it work better using a bad trigger, any help on that would be great.

My only comment is wouldn’t you first clean the barrel to remove any possible oil or grease that may be there from shipping to prevent any potential rust from happening.?? Seams like that could have a impact on accuracy for those 25 or maybe 50 rounds till it got removed by the pellets.?? Hey Rick, I recently up another of my favorite break barrel scopes. A nos pre-2012 centerpoint 4-16x40 adventure class, which is my understanding was made for crosman by leapers back then. And it made me curious about not hearing about leapers on AGW since before you moved to TX. If it's ok to talk to, is that kind of like the Hatsan thing went? Current opinion of their stuff in general?

always clean the barrel and shoot 50 shots before clicking the scope , a adjustable mount is also good on a springer to keep the inside of the scope in optical centre and straight

I used to do that.. but the newer guns are not nearly as picky with the barrels. At least not the Gamo Guns.. maybe some of the asian imports that come through full of rust and grease, but the Gamo seems to be fine without needing to clean the barrel out of the gate. I've found that just getting out and shooting a tin of pellets really get's the job done. You can see in this video by the time I got to the last 5 shot group we were down to under a dime. You all saw ALL the shots taken in this gun as they were all on video. The new guns are NOTthe way the old guns used to be. Cheers AGW

The Gamo site has a scope mount video showing a step you missed. After mounting the scope and mount to the recoil dampener, they removed the scope (the reason the top screws are loose), and snugged up the locking pin. They then returned the scope and tightened everything up. The parallax setting on that scope is 25 yards. Note Gen 3i mags only work with Gen 3i receivers marked with the green release.

Hey there. The stop pin on all these is dropped more than low enough. Generally speaking they are mounted pretty square. If you don't need to remove the top rings and add another layer of complexity to the setup, then there's certainly no need to do that. However, if you need to move the scope back or straighten it anyway and want to "tighten up" the stop pin, you certainly can at that time. Cheers AGW

I own a Beeman RS2 and having trouble cocking the gun, I am a seasoned citizen and lack the upper body strength to cock my break barrel, it's gotta be around 45 to 50 lbs. cocking strength. So to cock it, I place the butt on the floor or ground and put my whole upper body down on the barrel to cock it, I weigh 208lbs. I am 74 years young. Is it time for me to go pcp, or is there another break barrel out there with maybe 20 or 25 lb. cocking strength? I am NOT looking for junk.
