It is a faithfully true renaissance of what the Resident Evil series started as. A great story, unique puzzles, and some zombie killing mixed in.

With the End of Zoe dlc, this scene has a bit more added to it as to why Margaruitte wasn't present. When I saw this scene I assumed it was because they were both dead and that's why Zoe seemed pissed cuz she blames Ethan but no, it's because at this point she's still Calcified. But at this very point in time, they're both still alive. The End of Zoe confirms this.

God damn, the impact of this scene. I would have gone on hating the entire family 100% if this hadn't happened. Then, they just let you know, at the perfect moment, that they aren't evil. Just... infected. And that they aren't just gone, they're... they're still there, inside. That scene hurt.

Southern accents of ANY KIND make things sound so much more sincere and this cutscene hurts the soul so much. Ryan is so understanding as well because some of the games he plays on his channel always show that the killers and antagonists aren't alway bad

"Nor my boy Lucas..." Haha, no Lucas is fucking insane. To clarify: This is a characterization of Lucas Baker that we see in the game multiple times, and not a reflection of how I view those with mental health problems or conditions. “Insane” is clearly how the writers wanted us to perceive him, even before Evelyn in the story made all the other Bakers go out of control. Horror loves to demonize the mentally ill, and this story got crafty by conveniently introducing both the fact this character had existing mental illness, and the supernatural mold/virus that made everyone else go insane at the same time. It makes it hard to tease out whether the representation is truly negative, as he can be seen from a sympathetic or non sympathetic lens. We only see glimpses of pre-mold/“non-insane” Lucas. That’s for a reason.

I’m autistic anxious and depressed myself… I meant this comment more in terms of how Lucas as a character is shown in the narrative, and how he is played to be perceived by the audience. They want us to give him that label, hence all the hints about his brain scans and such. Horror loves demonizing the mentally ill, so it’s no surprise. The writers’ purposefully made Lucas be on a whole other level of “crazy” even before Evelyn showed up. So unlike the other characters in the Baker household, his mental issues started before the supernatural element used to explain the erratic behavior of the family was introduced. This story really pulled a sneaky on us because it let a character be labeled as insane, while also having legitimate mental issues that aren’t directly being belittled by said label. I actually think Jack Baker is supposed to showing a hint of denial here as a grieving father, as he probably knows Lucas is a bit different, but knows that doesn’t make him bad. We naturally want to blame the mold, the virus, Evelyn, for the Lucas we get in the game, and for all the affected Bakers we see in general. Lucas pre-mold had manageable mental issues, and was even getting help. Yet, we also know Lucas was probably more predisposed to certain behaviors even before the mold became a factor. That’s the same thing that can be said for everyone, but then we also have evidence Lucas reacted differently to the virus than his relatives. We actually see that he seems to have some areas of “immunity” to it too, even talking to and defying Evelyn! I think this is because his mental issues gave him some unique quirks when infected. Thus, it becomes a real chicken or the egg scenario when we say he is “insane”. Is it because of his mental issues to begin with? Or did the supernatural fictional virus make things get so out of hand and exacerbate his behavior like it did with the other Bakers? In that respect they handled Lucas Baker amazingly as a character, more like dodged a bullet, really... and avoided having him be “insane” simply because of his mental condition.

WatchGirlsPlay had the worst reaction. So apathetic during one of the most emotional scenes. Even her reasoning behind choosing between Zoe and Mia was shallow. Kinda went like: “Well Zoe helped us a lot but Mia has better hair so screw you country girl!”. Yes it’s a video game, but the best reactors/reactions occur when they try to relate and understand the game itself

Man, what a fantastic scene. Really puts into perspective that they were victims in all this too. Not to mention how talented Jack's voice actor is here-he pulled off all the psycho bits convincingly yet has the range to make this scene come off genuine and heartfelt. Awesome stuff.

Never seen a game that makes you feel soo bad for the killers before in that small period of time it deserves a medal

I think one of the saddest things is I think the real Jack is completely conscious even if Eveline is in control. He knows and sees everything he’s doing. At spots during the game, I think he even tries to resist. While chasing Ethan, Jack will sometime say “Don’t stop, keep running” The real Jack pushes through just enough to urge Ethan to get away from him.

It's not just the Bakers... even Eveline is a victim here. Like I commented on another vídeo, Eveline is a rather tragic character. I mean, she just wanted to have a family, and she act the way she is, because she's technically only 3 years old, so she doesn't completely understands how the world works, and she does all that evil stuff because of that. It just goes to show how amazingly deep the plot of this game is, and that the true villains are the people behind The Connections, and it baffles me how people can't see that.

One of the many tragedies is that he genuinely believes Lucas was under control...he never knew about Oliver or the attic. Could you imagine having that knowledge thrown onto you? Damn. The baker family has seen it all

yeah, but the zoe dlc shows the dead dude isn't their. so the mold flipped the switch for him. then that company cured him, but the damage was done. he was treatable before eveline

I love how no one notices that jack's t shirt has no shadow, once you see it, you can't unsee it

damn this line still hits the heart 4 years later... This was a remarkable game

this is why i love john. i get the urge to talk and respond to what you see but john actually remains quiet throughout cutscenes like these and not gonna lie, i appreciate that so much.

If i were Ethan than i would 100% Save the Baker family. This is the most Emotional cutscene ive ever sceen. I bet most of you were crying too😭😢

jack is such a good foe and someone to feel bad for! he's up there next nemesis

In the second part to this, half the guys don't even listen. One of them even asks, "Who's Eveline?" It has nothing to do with gender. Some girls are great, some aren't. Same with every gamer.

Wait so did Lucas free himself from Eveline's mind control or not? The writings he leaves behind suggest that he did, but if that were true then wouldn't it make him a real villain among the family rather than a victim? It says some startling things about his character if there are implications that he did all these manipulative and sadistic things while having a free mind of his own.

Just Mat Not exactly. You have to do some searching, but at a point you'll find his journal which shows he's killed before. Also, the entire game, he's not under Eveline's influence. Whatever company created her, they gave him the ability to break it so he could keep tabs on the rest of his family, record the results for them.

E-001 was her weapons name code . . We still dont know who the hell made that weapons to kill Family or Witnesses. We still has no evidence about that Weapons to Umbrella Corps. And i still dont know why Chris was working with Umbrella Corps in the ending.
