Brennan once replied to someone on Twitter or Reddit asking about a monologue like this (maybe this exact one), and he said he has to constantly make an effort to not talk like this all the time. Long-winded, overly detailed, reference-packed pontification is his natural state of being.

Excellent typography xD. The labyrinth and the pulled thread are my favorite visuals (plus the aaaaah circling the corner lmao) I'm a big nerd for greek mythology who read books about it as a kid like others read Goosebumps so I just habe to point out that Brennan's rant contains many spot on references to the story of the Minotaur. Daedalos was a brilliant inventor and father of Ikarus. After the minotaur was born, King Minos, whose wife had given birth to it, ordered Daedalos to construct an unsolveable labyrinth to trap the monster inside of it. But because rich people and royals are horrible people, he let his men throw Daedalos and Ikarus in the labyrinth after it was constructed so they could never tell anyone how to solve it (in some variants its also because Daedalos tells Ariadne about the trick with the thread.) So they collect bird feathers and wax to make wings and fly away, but then Ikarus gets too ambitious and is drawn in by the sun and the wax melts and he falls to his death. So Brennans rant here says to Sam: You think you are this great brilliant inventor of a great mystery game and I am going to be the idiot who pays for my hubris and falls like Ikarus. But I am not letting you play games with me. I am the Minotaur you think you trapped in your great little unsolveable game and I did solve it! So now I am escaping your tricks and I will kick your ass. It is wild how much this isn't just a huge wild rant but actually a metaphor filled speech chewing out Sam. I just wanted to share that because it tickles my nerd brain :')

For those who seem skeptical that this wasn't rehearsed, let me explain to you how it works. Because yes, this level of grandiloquence is very possible through the sheer magical power of pure rage. The secret lies in a certain neuroticism, where you "plan out" conversations in private, imagining what you might say, as long as whomever you're talking to says the right things. Obviously it's impossible to predict all possible conversations and plan for them accordingly, but it does give you a repertoire of phrases and intonations to draw on when you want to lose your absolute shit in an extended rage monologue.

@@boxva1396 I do a bit of improv myself, and I wouldn’t say that I’m any good at it, at least not compared to Brennan, but every so often, there’s just that Moment™️ you’ll have while going about your day where you just go completely off the rails and find yourself weaving a tale about your rivalry with Jeremy the beetle who beat you in a fight in 7th grade after he stole your girlfriend. I’m not sure if this is how it is for Brennan, but for me, it’s a way to cope with social situations. I do plan some stuff out to an extent though, like imagining being able to use the phrase “full offense” often enough that when I finally was able to use it in a conversation, it landed PERFECTLY. However, I think the best thing to do is just practice. I made enough bad jokes and awkward comebacks as a 12 year old to have gotten really good at dropping 5 star roasts on people nowadays

I know what's going on here. I know what's going on here. Okay? I do, and if you want me to wander backstage to spill the beans. It's the final question, right? They're in the loop. I'm the only one out of the loop it would seem, and if we check my point total here, I don't need to walk to the front, because I know what it is. It's a big ol' goose egg, gang. It's a fat zero. Hello, a little late addition to the numerical symbol chart brought to us from our friends in Arabia. Little bit of trivia that I happen to know about the history of numbers. That kind of little tidbit would serve me well in most trivia games unless it had been rigged from the beginning. Woah, dude? Oh, we've only just begun to pull the thread on this sweater, friends. You would think in a game where there are only two possible correct choices, that one would stumble into the right answer every so often. Wouldn't you? In fact, the probability of never guessing right in the full game is a statistical wonder, and yet here we are. Introduced at the top of the game as a champion, what do you think that means? Icarus flying too close to the sun, but seems Daedalus, our little master crafter over here, had some wax wings of his own, didn't he? Wanted to see his son fall, fall from the sky. Oh, how close to the sun he flew. Well I'm not having it. I solved your labyrinth, puzzle master. The Minotaur has escaped, and you're gonna get the horns, buddy. I cannot win!
