Game Wardens and Grizzlies with Author CJ Box | The MeatEater Podcast

Спорт

Steven Rinella talks with author CJ Box, Ryan Callaghan, Brody Henderson, Randall Williams, Phil Taylor, and Corinne Schneider.
Topics discussed: Cool stage names; Three Inch Teeth. the 24th Joe Pickett game warden novel out now; when a CJ Box book mentions Steve and MeatEater; novels with an honest portrayal or time and place; how CJ’s wife was called to be on the jury for the Wyoming corner crossing case; get our limited edition “Fresh Set of Eyes…” t-shirt at the MeatEater store now; Clay Newcomb’s high school drawing of a future man with a sci-fi gun pointed at a wild hog; how the next Joe Pickett novel should center around a great vault toilet rescue; audience variations on Steve’s beans saying; NSFW (not safe for work) bird names; how the groundhog can’t tell the weather; hardwired to be a writer; and more.

I lived in a small town in Wyoming for over a decade... I was driving through said town and noticed a WGFD pickup parked at the local mechanic's shop. The first thought to cross my mind, literally, was, "What the heck did Joe do now?" That that was my first thought at seeing the truck, to me, is evidence of a very talented and persuasive writer!

Lived in Wyoming 50 years ago in a small town named Clearmont. Was a sheep herder one summer for local rancher in the Bighorn mts. Love your books. The stories bring back memories of locations traveled when I was much younger. Please keep up writing stories about the intermountain west.

Was a great experience. Got fresh food delivered every 2 weeks. Slept in a sheep wagon. Crystal clear night skies. Road horse each day with sheep dog. Fed predator controller would stop by every few weeks because I was one of few sheep herder who spoke English. Could pick up radio station at night from Denver who played mystery theaters. Simpler times, fantastic experience. Could make a good story.

@@mikeyantis8067 Thanks for your awesome reply! If you wrote the book, I'd DEFINITELY read it! I bought the running gear for an old-fashioned sheep wagon and brought the old wooden wheels to a wheelwright in South Dakota to have the metal tires and hubs tightened. I plan to build the sheep wagon using that running gear and those wheels one day. Sounds like an amazing adventure! Thanks again for sharing!

It would be a real cool 20 minute video if they were to swing a camera around that room and just do a little recap on all of the knick knacks on the walls. The very set camera angles do a great job of capturing the people, but I've been staring at the front of the Super Cub behind Steve for the past 50 episodes.
