As someone who enjoys the occasional "Lettuce", I can honestly say that this is true. It's more than possible to smoke up, let the time fly by, and snap back to attention at will when necessary. Psycho Mantis though... THAT dude HAD to be on some combination of LSD, Shrooms, and Absinthe. I can't imagine ANYTHING else doing that level to him. Bruh.

I watched this when it came out, now I’m 19 watching this high, it’s sick😂

The theory I really wanna see for this game is about Kaz. There's a notable scene where he removes his sunglasses to reveal that his eyes appear milky, as if he's blind. When you first rescue him, you can see very briefly at certain moments that, although Snake asks "did they do something to your eyes" and he replies "no, it's just bright," his eyes actually appear normal. I believe his eye color is actually something like hazel if my memory is correct. Now whether this was an intentional thing or not, he does have normal eyes in that scene. Yet he has milky eyes in the only other scene with his sunglasses off, and in many other scenes you can tell his eyes also have this milky appearance to them when you look closely at his sunglasses in scenes that are somewhat close to his face. I became aware that his eyes seemed weird long before he took his sunglasses off because of this. Despite the fact that the guy looks like he should be entirely blind, he acts as though he can see perfectly fine, other than a brief moment when Quiet retrieves Shabani's necklace and he kinda nudges the necklace around with his cane thing until Ocelot picks it up. And then he goes right back to acting as though he has perfect vision again. He also acts like he's reluctant to open his eyes after removing his sunglasses the one time, indicating that he may be somewhat photosensitive (something that would explain why he always wears the sunglasses, and could explain his reaction/response to Snake when rescued as well as why he wears sunglasses all the time in other games). I have heard everything from cataracts caused by a disease his mother may have had (I believe it was specifically an STD), to somehow he was exposed to some sort of radioactive chemical that may have splashed in his face and blinded him (a la Daredevil) and gave him some sort of radar vision thing where he can "see" but not in the traditional sense. Kaz does make a particular comment in his speech to the Diamond Dogs that "[They] will be [his] eyes." He also seems to sense Quiet when no one else does while she's invisible, but only the one time when she's beside the helicopter. When she first arrives and goes invisible to prove that she could hurt the soldiers on Mother Base but chooses not to take advantage of the surprise that being invisible would grant her, Kaz just kinda follows the soldiers after they locate her with thermal scopes, rather than being like "she's right there you idiots." So I suspect it was maybe intuition or possibly a lack of breeze from that side when the helicopter blades are spinning over them. My challenge to Game Theory is to come up with an answer to that mystery. I never could figure out how Kaz could interact with other characters even though he appears to be completely blind and even acts as though he is in brief moments. I would like to hear if there's any scientific explanation for this. Granted much of Metal Gear 5 seems to be stuff meant to make people go "how is that possible for 1980" (as was mine and my family's constant question when I played the game), I'm curious what you guys think could be the reason for Kaz's strange ability to see but maybe not see at all.

Doesn't really have many long-term side effects. And it doesn't kill you. Yes it's addictive and withdrawal symptoms are a bitch but it's not gonna kill you, nor is it going to put you in a state of mind where you would consider killing yourself or doing something that will ultimately kill you, whether accidentally or on purpose.

@@deffdefying4803 then you have never worked 80+ hours in a pay period relying on caffeine, if you reach that 800mg of caffeine a day, even if you get your sleep, you experience heart palpitations and can even go into cardiac arrest, and spikes in blood pressure so high you can litteraly pop a vain or artery. That's not even going into the binge of caffeine because you need to meet deadlines or have become addicted/dependent on rockstars/monster/red bull. Even the people that have become so dependent and addicted to those, they need to take the gas station pills to get threw the day and cannot sleep more than a hour or two if they really try, causing real mental problems. I have knows some truckers and over night warehouse workers that were completely strait edge and did not like drugs, But there caffeine addictions had cost them there family's and some have been hospitalised to were they would have died without medical attention.

Another thing that makes this theory work is the part explaining that the Phantom Cigar doesn't work when Snake is under stress. In my experience, nothing will kill your high quicker than one healthy shot of on the spot adrenaline. I like this theory, cause if I was in Snake's shoes, I'd be lighting up a bowl of some green serenity after every stressful encounter. Keeps your head calm.

*_Warning: For those who are very, VERY sensitive, please don't continue reading_* To those who think the only way to live is with drugs/alcohol and that to live straightedge is a sin, let me tell you all a story. Once upon a time in a random high school, there were three students. They were all friends. They all loved swearing like they were on a CoD multiplayer match and loved joking about drugs even more. One of these students actually did drugs quite often, and was very familiar with the police. One day, fall break, the student bought some drugs from someone that he was lead to believe was safe. Shortly after, while at home, the police decided to pay him a visit. As you would expect, he ran. He ran and ran and ran _far_ away until finally... He was found dead near a creak. The two other friends were told of this and they were horribly upset... for a week. One week later, they were back to joking about the very thing that killed their friend, all while pretending he never existed. And how did I learn of this story, you may ask? Because I was actually there, merely observing the whole incident from across the classroom, as the only one who felt somewhat sorry for the dead student, even to this day. So doing drugs is the "fun" and "cool" thing to do, huh? Well, you can go on ahead and keep telling yourself that. I won't try and stop you, but as for me, I'll gladly live an "un-fulfilling" straightedge life if it means people will remember me after death. Mr. Pokirby, out.

Why would the police tell everyone close to the "victim", *including a bunch of **_high school_** students,* what illegal drug he took that caused him *_death?_* All I was told that it was because of some drugs he bought from some guy he knew. They even used the word "drug" when they told me.

Considering that isn't actually Snake. Spoilers Also Psycho Mantis is on LSD, PCP, pure oxygen, and that gas mask has a bowl in it.

Me as Snake just standing there and smoking weed to pass 12 hours: -After 10 minutes: spotting little animals and insects on the ground and wanting to observe and interact with them. -After 20 minutes: Laughing at weird movements of those insects, wondering what they are doing and how a normal day looks for them (while constantly getting stuck on one thought and forgetting about what i was thinking in the first place) -After 30 minutes: Sitting/ Lying down, thinking about how i gave someone a wrong way description a couple days ago, wondering if this person found its way and feeling bad/guilty about giving the unintentional wrong description. After 40 minutes: Being paranoid as hell because i'm in enemy territory, searching a hiding spot, wanting to avoid any human interaction in this hostile place, doubding my own capability to kill someone in this moment. -After 50 minutes: Lying in hiding spot, starting to sleep. -After 7 hours: Waking up, smoking an other joint, going right back to sleep. -After12 hours: still sleeping, waking up way too late.

The way he describes opium sounds really enjoyable

One thing you didn't take into effect is the strain of marijuana. The CBD/THC percentages and indica v sativa. Smoking sativa calms you, while keeping you active and alert, unlike indica (the more common strain) which is what makes you excessively relaxed and "couchlocked". So not only is he smoking cannabis, he's smoking Cannabis sativa, which would indeed assist him in his goals.

No sativa is much more common and more popular, unless you get to all day every day stoners then indica is more popular but still less common among offical sources. its also a debate among users whether there truly is a difference or if indica is simply stronger. other than the structure of the plant and width of the leaves no difference has been observed that would make its THC different. With its legalization and funded studies we will surly find out soon but thats more just inconclusive sales points right now. I for one, prefer indica because i actually notice its affects, sativa just allows you to think really clearly and consistently on a single train of thought if you choose to be in your head, or more intune to the subtleties of the conversation if youre social, but doesnt make you distractedly high.

Excuse me, uh, sir MatPat, I found an idea you might like for a theory. How bad would the Falcon Punch hurt you? Or something along the line of that

A game called "Presentable Liberty" has swept Let's Players recently and is being hailed by some as "life changing" I've played it myself along with its prequel "Exoptable " Money" and I just don't get it. Snake is probably smoking spliffs. In some European counties like Denmark and Sweden they mix hashish with tobacco and roll this into joints. It makes sense since Snake's cigar is called the "Phantom" Cigar and an expression for smoking weed is "blowing ghosts".

Yup that's exactly how it works, it's almost like being dumber means you have more fun and think less about stressful things, maybe there is some truth too the saying "ignorance, is bliss" i mean they already correlated anxiety/depression with intelligence, more intelligent and more brain activ people where more prone to mental illness, anxiety and depression didn't exist until the 1900s and medicine been out for less than 100 years.

Ahhhh... The funny arguments between the people who do or have smoked pot and the people who have never even seen it in person. The first group is adamant that it is harmless (which it arguably is) but argue the point a little too much for a pot smoker (most actual smokers could not give a flying fuck if you agree in truth) and the latter group is convinced that it is the domain of "druggies" and makes people stupid. So here is some advice for both sides: Smokers, you would do well to just smoke and keep it to yourself. No point in feeding the silly public perceptions perpetuated by hollywood. If you smoke you know what I mean. And to the non-smokers: Try it or shut up about it. If your only real knowledge of the substance comes from PSA's or a health class you had in school then you know nothing about it. If your only experience of someone else smoking pot is from high school or the weird guy in your neighbourhood then chances are good that they were an extremely poor example (You'd be suprised how many people out there smoke regulary and you trust them with things like being your doctor, driving your bus/plane/taxi or being your local magistrate/cop/fireman/ambulance paramedic.
