We haven’t read your comments but the message has been passed along... We might talk more about this in the next video but probably not. Ok, we get it, Dany listened to Jon and didn’t hurt any innocent people or structures... we missed that, it happens... there’s a lot going on in this show. I watched our reaction back again and we seemed pretty excited that Dany and Drogon were about to light some people up... it’s pretty obvious that dragon destruction is one of our favorite parts of this show. It’s pretty shocking seeing people turn to ash from dragon fire if that’s why you think we were concerned for the Lannister army. Plus, we like Jamie and Bronn. Our fear of Dany’s actions were more about what the people are going to think & her and her dragon’s safety... we want her to succeed. She’s easily one of our favorite characters in this show and it’s unfortunate it doesn’t come across like that. And please don’t misinterpret Nikki’s empathy for the animals as hate for people... She just has a special connection with animals because of her upbringing and had trouble seeing them get hurt or killed. Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts and being on this ride with us... we appreciate all of you and the passion you bring. - Steven

Hey guys, just wanted to say that it's completely okay when you don't catch something or when something goes over your head or you don't form your opinion straight away. The majority of people here did have similar reactions, but the thing is, people had a year to discuss every aspect of every bit of every second of every episode (and they forget that you didn't). That means that people will want to point out to you their analyzes and thoughts, and not necessarily as an attack to you, but only as their interpretation of the episodes. People looove to explain stuff they are passionate about, and they love pointing out small details and different points of view for you guys to notice it too. It can get quite overwhelming when hundreds of people are telling you the same thing, but that's only because they probably want to explain it themselves and offer their thoughts. We were all very much frustrated with Dany in season 7, and it's really unfair for some people to attack you for feeling the same way majority of fanbase felt last summer. The only difference is that we had time to reflect and think about different perspectives when you guys only watched the episode, what, yesterday? So you have every right to feel this or that, and anyone who tells you something condescending or rude is a huge hypocrite and probably should be ignored. Majority of people here only have the best intentions when they explain or point out things. By the way, there are various discussions in comments that don't necessary have you guys in focuse, at least from what I've read, so try to separate them from the ones aimed at your reaction. And about those people complaining about Nikki's love for animals? There isn't a nice way to say this, but fuck them. Nikki, continue to be such a wonderful human with a heart of gold and never stop caring for animals, because too many people don't. We need more people like you, not less. Sending love to you both!!!!💕💕💕

I mean, if there were even twice as many Dothaki as there were Lannisters and Tarlys on that field, they would've been annihilated. They only won because of their sheer numbers and a dragon. Lannisters counteracted every tactic the Dothraki used: shields to deflect arrows and pikes to hold the line against cavalry.

Lmao. He changed, yes, and though I find him more agreeable now, I don't like him, nor care for him. Tyrion is kind, and fearfully smart, and I like that. Tyrion did kill his father and his lover, but then again, both of them wanted him dead basically. He was the only one to try to put Joffrey in his place, always called out his family's wrongs, etc. Tyrion is great, the rest of his family? Can go choke.

Maybe they changed her a bit in the writting, so she won't be the "disney princess from Essos with her dragons to save the world". How was it ‘proven to be the right decision’? Reading Martin’s histories of the Targaryen’s it’s pretty obvious that most accepted them with sullen resentment -at best, for most of the time. I mean I’m sure the trading class and the peasantry probably enjoyed the reduction in endemic warfare, that was a definite plus. But they weren’t a loved dynasty at all on religious or social grounds, and their tendency to madness and pyrotechnics would’ve left many in a constant state of fear

Dany generally listens to what all of her advisors say, and then she makes a decision on what SHE wants to do. Most leaders in this series do the same. But it’s a war and in this world only the strong can survive. You can clearly see she is a good person but also very conflicted. She wants to help the people but she also nows that she could have already been queen if she simply used her dragons to burn kings landing. But she didn’t. And that‘s what is making her a good queen. (Also later in the season she does a lot of things were you can clearly see she cares more for the people than the iron throne, don’t want to spoil but everyone who has seen the season knows what I mean. With that in mind I really don‘t know why people still think she will become mad.)

One reason I love this battle sequence so much (even though the Battle of the Bastards is visually better) is because it does what most movies / shows can't do : it makes you really feel the cost of war because you love characters on both sides. I think the audience probably felt a lot like Tyrion as he watched. He loves his brother Jamie and his friend Bronn, and he loves his chosen queen, Danaerys. None of those characters are perfect, but we love them (especially Drogon), and the thought of losing any of them is heart-wrenching. You don't always have someone like Ramsey Bolton to fight, who was soooo beyond redemption and easy to hate. It's like the whole battle becomes a metaphor for how difficult it's going to be for humans to work together against the night king. (Still pretty sure I hate Ramsey more than I hate the night king.)

I don’t think this comment got saved so I’m writing it again. Steven I think you’re being too hard on Daenerys this season. First you always wanted her to “burn Meereen down” and go to Westeros to get the iron throne but now that she’s there trying to do it you don’t like it and you’re critizing/judging her unfairly . You’re seeing the whole thing too much from Jon’s point of view, do you think that she poured blood, sweat & tears for 6 seasons just to be like : hey ok I don’t care about the iron throne anymore I’m gonna join your cause , even if I don’t know you, just because you say so... That doesn’t make any sense. Of course the white walkers are the first thing to care about but firstly she doesn’t know him and what we all know about it all, and secondly the whole Westeros doesn’t believe in white walkers and the night king (except for some in the north maybe) cause they NEVER SAW them ( but they did see dragons and Targaryens, even if centuries before) , so you’re argument that she “has” to believe Jon because of the magical things happened to her doesn’t make any sense too. Dragons & the Targaryens relation with them is well known and documented in history books (like the ones Sheeren was reading ) . About her attitude is pretty understandable why she’s “acting” like that considering what she’s been through all this past seasons. Her defensiveness is due obviously to the fact that people have been sent to kill her since the moment she was born, Jorah betraying her (even if he was forgiven) and all the other bad things happened to her. Regarding her authoritative behavior that too is understandable if you consider that what she did in Spoils of WAr is exactly what she had to do in Meereen to defeat the masters and free slavers bay once and for all . That’s the way she knows, people are never gonna respect her and take her seriously if she uses her dragons just as pets when they have so much potential. So try to look it less from Jon’s point of view and see what Dany is coming from too. Love you both so much btw 😄♥️ But I always defend my Dany when people come for her unfairly. Can’t wait for you guys to watch the next episodes 🔥🔥

It's absolutely astounding how people expect Dany to just roll over after losing 3 allies. Equally incredible is how they expect her to not be angry. But that's what it's always going to be like for Dany. Because of her father's memory, people will always view her as a problem to solve instead of a person to understand. They will always hold her a standard that is too high and unfair for any person, both because of her power and heritage. Dany has suffered humiliation and embarrassment on account of Tyrion's plans, not just military loses. And as a person who's trying to be taken seriously, that's NOT GOOD. She needs to show these people that she means business, that she is a force to be reckoned with. She succeeded.

to be fair: she claims to be better than all the rulers before her which is why she is held to those standards... However she proved several times, that the world is much harder than "free the slaves- be happy" and slowly decends into the great game, just like everybody else. She kills those who oppose her, threatens people into doing her bidding and for some reason still thinks that she has a claim on the iron throne- as Jon said: based on her name. Also since she basically is the only person with access to weapons of mass destruction, she loses her moral high ground the second she decides to use these weapons. At that point she is not "evil" but she is just the same as anyone before and anyone after her. Nothing special. Maybe she will be a good ruler, better than Cersei for sure- but the common folk sees a woman using monsters and savages to destroy their lives. Its pretty bad PR.

@@Garnichgutt And why the hell is it different burning the soldiers rather than stabbing or hacking them to death?? Do you think soldiers died peacefully in these situations?? Most got wounded and died a slow and painful death while lying in shit and blood and watching their fellow soldiers die. Using "weapons of mass destruction", as you so eloquently call her dragons, makes no difference whatsoever in her "moral high ground" except for the fact that she is MUCH stronger and has a much better advantage! She would have lost her moral high ground if she used her "weapons of mass destruction" to kill and maim civilians and burn down cities, not because she destroyed trained soldiers who chose to carry a sword and committed mass murder just the day before! Except for the Starks, any other ruler in this show would have used those dragons to burn Kings Landing to the ground the second they stepped onto Westerosian soil. And then they would have just kept on going. Dany is making the hard choices, she's trying to do the right thing, and keep her humanity. Soldiers die in war! They chose the sword, they killed with the sword, and they died by the sword. I for one do not feel sorry for them!

@lo l it does not. Sure if this was a war of annihilation, go ahead use the dragons all the time, nobody will be left to care. But Dany has the delusion of ruling the very people she attacked with "monsters". This is not about strategy this is about politics. In fact I agree with her decision to use the dragon BUT I do not claim to "break the wheel" or be "different" than other rulers. Thats my point. She isnt different. Like I stated earlier- she uses mostly the same means of supressing resistance as anyone else. She kills those she deems "wrong"/ "evil" just like any other ruler. I dont mind her. But maybe she should stop pretending to be something different than Aegon the conquerer with tits. Its her ambition that is responsible for every single death in this war for westeros. Because she feels some weird desire to rule it all. So on a moral standpoint: there is no difference in killing soldiers through soldiers or fire true. However: todays foe might be tomorrows friend and vice versa. But if your means of winning include firebreathing giant lizards fighting against people who are armed with spears and a shield you sure look like the bully to any observer... it doesnt matter what happened before. The very second she attack westeros she became the "bad guy" by default in the eyes of the average westerosi (even amongst her allies, many vassals broke faith cause they rather take a horrible ruler from westeros, than a pillaging, Dothraki and Dragon supported foreigner. And making use of these assets will alienate westeros more every time she uses them, until she has laid waste to any opposing power- just like Aegon did.

It's amazing to me that Dany always gets criticized for being a fearless, strong and ruthless leader when Jon and Robb were praised for acting the same way. Robb was cutting down Lannister men left and right and was beloved. Tyrion has done tonnes of questionable things and still loved. Jon murdered thousands of wildlings in the battle against the Night's Watch and he is everyone's golden boy. I love Jon too because he in an honorable, good man and inspiring leader but I must admit I take up for Dany in particular due to her getting judged more harshly. I see so many Dany haters and people comparing her to a psychotic tyrant and it baffles me.

In a way Danaerys wasn't really disregarding the advice people gave her. She basically took what they said and took what she felt she had to do, and came up with what she believed to be a suitable compromise for her. Instead of taking all her dragons and her entire army and laying seige to Westeros, she took just the Dothraki and Drogon, and attacked the only Lannister army on the open road.

I see that everybody in the comments have already said mostly what i came here to say so ill leave that be, however there is one thing id like to bring to your attention. In the 'Battle of the Whispering Wood' where Rob Stark initially captured Jamie Lannister it was mentioned that when it was clear that the Starks were winning, Jamie broke ranks and attacked Rob head on. They said Jamie cut through half a dozen men or something like that in order to get to Rob before he was finally captured. He knew that killing Rob would end the war and all the fighting, even if it meant his certain death. Hes always been willing to sacrifice himself to save everybody else. He sacrificed his honor to slay the Mad King, he risked his life to kill Rob Stark to end the war and save all the people who would have died had it continued, he again risked his life to save Brienne from a bear, and now he essentially sacrificed his life to charge at Dany and her dragon knowing that if he could strike the blow it would end the war even though he knew Drogon would kill him. Its always been his M.O.. The fact of the matter is that whether you love him or hate him Jamie is one of the bravest men in Westeros and one of the most selfless heroes in this story. I think he deserves more respect than people like to give him.

There is enough to destroy all of King’s Landing. When Daenerys asked Jon to bend the knee to save his people. Jon asked the same to Mance. Jon & Mance answered the same way. What wasn’t discussed was that Highgarden’s good was successfully delivered to Cersi.

you don’t have to agree with everything Daenerys says and does. I certainly don’t, I agree with Jon far more often, but for people who normally react with a lot of empathy and trying to see all sides, I’ve got to say I think you’re being kind of hypocritical here. Dany could end this war and be queen ANY DAY if she wanted to, if she was willing to compromise her morals and take her dragons to kings landing. But she won’t because she doesn’t want thousands of innocent civilians to die. But this is war, and soldiers on both sides are going to die, unless you want Cersei to rule forever. Dany is risking losing this war and the one thing she has always wanted in order to spare as much innocent life as she can. Sure, a lot of those soldiers were probably good people who had nothing to do with this, but if you feel like it’s wrong for them to die that’s an anti-war sentiment not an anti-dany one. You guys cheered when she destroyed the slavers army in Meereen. You cheered when Arya killed the entire house fray. Do you think all of those people were bad people? Dany is following her advisors advice. She followed their advice last episode (Tyrion did not advise her to go north and fight the white walkers, he advised her to summon Jon snow to get him to bend the knee and be her ally). She followed their advice this time and took out a chunk of the Lannister army in a way that did not harm a single civilian. If you don’t approve of her doing that, then how exactly do you propose she takes the throne? Tyrion is conflicted because war is hard, and he doesn’t like seeing the Lannister army dying. It’s okay to be conflicted about war and to debate what the right thing to do is. But I’m just finding it really frustrating that you’re being so judgmental of Dany when you haven’t been of any other war in this show. My frustrations aside though, this is a fictional show and you guys are of course welcome to react however you want. I’ve been following you guys for ages, love your videos, and am looking forward to the next one :)

Burning people once makes it easier to do it again, for a new reason or the same old, doesn't matter. That is how a path of evil is created, you bend the rules a little, do something not quite justified. Next time you do it again, go a little bit further. I really, really love your reactions, I always did, but in this case it somehow angers me a bit that you just don't understand Daenerys. She understood Jon, he opened her eyes that were already open in the first place, but he remembered her what makes her different from all the other horrible rulers like Cersei or her father or some of her ancestors before. Why didn't you guys react like that when Cersei went full Mad Queen and burned the sept? Daenerys is still the one who wants to make this world a better place than when she found it. That is why she didn't attack King's Landing, where thousands of INNOCENT people live, thus listening to Jon in a minute of rage, she went straight to the Lannister ARMY, a place of WAR. That is the actual difference, and it is an important one. We have seen a lot of war scenes in this show before with lots of people dying. Many caused it, bad and good characters. Why is it so wrong of Daenerys to do the same? The same that Tyrion, HER ADVISER, did before on the Blackwater? Jon has fought in battles, Stannis did, so many have. Daenerys is loved among her own people, rightfully so, she is the Breaker of Chains. But she also needs to be feared, especially by the Lannisters and their supporters, she needs to let them know that she is still the blood of the dragon and that she takes what is hers with fire and blood. But she did not hurt the citizens of King's Landing. This, however, is war. That's the significant difference. She is still the Queen they chose, they believe in. And she still has a good heart.

Of course, because of that, some people think that Daenerys is doing something wrong. Is not wrong from Daenerys perspective. We know that. But of course it is in Jaime point of view. I will say that the concept of one of the main protagonist of the serie is almost a villain in this battle, all because of the point of view they choose to represent the battle, say a lot. To Jaime, Daenerys is a crazy Targaryen with foreign invaders who is burning his entire army. Not very difficult to think that, if I were in his shoes.

You guys misunderstand the debate Dany was having with Tyrion and Jon. It was originally suggested she just go to King’s Landing, burn everything and take over the city, killing Cersei, hundreds of lords, and thousands of civilians. John says her “burning castles and cities” would make her all the same. The Mad King wanted to blow up the King’s Landing and burned innocent people for fun. Her ancestors used the dragons to destroy cities and burn houses into submission. So instead of taking the easy, horrific way out, she went and stopped the Lannister’s from getting High Garden’s money. If you look closely she doesn’t actually pierce the line of soldiers very much, she mostly burns the crops and provisions they had. All she did was go and fight a battle, the difference is she just used a dragon. She actually did take the advice of Tyrion and Jon, I think you guys just got it a bit confused😅.

Just a little correction. Lord Tarley told Jaime that the money had already made it to Kings Landing. They lost all the supplies an army needs. Ideally Dany would have captured those supplies for her people but that was not really doable so destroying it was the next best thing.

I agree. She did not destroy cities and castles, she destroyed an army in the open field. She came to Westeros to conquer it which means she going to fight somebody. This was a compromise. Dany keeps saying bend the knee because she's come to Conquer Westeros. I also was a little uncomfortable with the way Dany spoke with John when he first arrived but I understood. The meeting was a little tough but it could have gone much worse. Think about all the Kings you have met in this series. If John was in conflict (and yes not bending the knee is a conflict to that kings authority like it or not) with any other Kings and then showed up and did not bend the knee, how would most of them have treated him. Robert Baratheon would not have been very nice and forget about how Cersei would have treated him. Tywin would not have been any better and Stannis killed his own brother for not bending the knee.

"So why even ask people their opinion?" 1) There's a difference between listening to the counsel of your advisors saying you should do A and then still deciding B is the better course vs. never having the counsel and just deciding B. (There was some discussion of this between Dani and Jorah, I believe it was, during earlier seasons.) There are distinctions that have ethical repercussions concerning the process and wisdom of how the end decision is arrived at, despite the immediate outcomes appearing identical in the short-term. 2) Notice that Tyrion favors strategy, diplomacy, subterfuge, and manipulation: policies that favor intelligence over physical strength. That's consistent with his entire life experience of being a dwarf, and those we've seen in the show. Dani, despite having similar origins, also has very specific powers as well as strength fitting the "dragon" side of her character. She's more effective when at times she unabashedly displays that power and strength, but particularly at specific times because it both commands respect and alters the perceptions of the other players around her (as seen through the show). Their mutual abilities can complement each other or conflict, resulting in better or worse results. 3) Also notice, Jon and Tyrion advised against Dani using her dragons to lay waste and destruction to *King's Landing*. So she went for the Lannister army that took out the Reach and House Tyrell. (Although House Tyrell was effectively ended (unfortunately) when Cersei killed off the last Tyrells who might ever continue their line.)

Daenerys was using Jon's own words against him in the cave when she told him not to let his pride get in the way of saving his people. The same thing that Jon said to Tormund before they went to Hardhome, which in my opinion make them both equally great rulers who value the lives of all men, women and children.

She attacked an army in the field that had just wiped out one of her armies and who was bringing supplies back that would support her enemy. She is at war and had to fight and she made a good choice. She is giving up everything she fought to have (armies, dragons, her claim to the throne) to go fight for the north and Jon gives nothing in return. She is being more than generous and diplomatic. She had to go through the most horrible things to get everything she has and managed not to get killed doing that an somehow people just want her to just forget about everything and go fight a war she never even heard about. She didn't ignore Jon's advice. She didn't burn any inocent people she went to war agains Lannisters. People LOVED the bttle of bastards but get really shocked watching this battle when is exatly the same thing. The lannisters killed lady Olenna took her castle and her gold. Daenerys is fighting back as anybody else would. The only difference is that she is a lot stronger in the battlefield. She didn't even burn the whole army. She surrounded the army with fire and destroyed those carriages and the dothraki did the rest.

I think its because its under diffidence circumstances, Robb had to kill those Lannister soldiers because the Lannister's chopped of his fathers head and demanded he bend the knee, Tyroin had to blow up Stannis' fleet because he had no other choice, Stannis was the aggressor. This isn't my stance but I think a lot of people were 'heated' because unlike Robb or Tyroin, Dany is the aggressor in this situation, she didn't need to come to westros, she could of lived nicely in essos but she decided to come and wage war, knowing many people will die because of it. got isn't really black and white, its about different perspectives and that what makes it great imo.

Also, about bending the knee, remember Mance Ryder and the Freefolk. Mance, too, didn't want to submit to southern ruler, kinda for the similar reasons because Jon now doesn't want to. And remember what Jon told him, the exactly same thing Daenerys told Jon here. ' Isn't their survival more important then your pride?' And tbh I didn't like Daenerys and how was she handling the situation, but then I realised that she was a woman in a men's world, and the only men she was mostly acquaintaned with were generally savage men, men without strong moral principles or honor, men who didn't respect women and only showed Dany respect when she showed her power. So she is acting accordingly to her experience. She feels like she has to flaunt her power, titles, bloodline, because she expects Jon, and anyone else in Westeros to be the same as the men she knew all her life.

Also, Jon never really wanted to be king. He said so himself before he left to meet Dany. The Northeners kind of just chose him and forced him into it. I understand that Jon is very honorable and when he swears an oath he sticks to it, but Jon is basically fighting to keep something he really doesn't want, while Dany is fighting for something she has fought very hard for. She has spent her whole life wanting to go back home, and then half her life amassing an army to take back the throne. She has sacrificed everything for this, and now she's just supposed to roll over and trust complete strangers?? I love them both, but I always understood Danys side more in this situation. Jon's ultimate goal is to defeat the Night King, he doesn't care about the Iron Throne or any other throne, so why didn't he just bend the knee from the start and get Dany to focus on the North!? She says she will help him if he bends the knee, so why not just do it?

@@laylacreativeworks9304 Yes! I agree with almost all you say here. However, if you really think about it, both Dany's and Jon's sides are understandable. As Sara Dojcinovic said, Jon can't bend the knee for the same reason Mance couldn't: the people he united for a common cause would fall back into factions if he kneeled. I think the writers drew a parallel here to show that Jon is only now beginning to understand the situation Mance was in: both of their holds on their people is too tentative to assume their people would accept it if their leader kneeled to someone else. (Remember, Jon doesn't just have the North (who allegiances, if we're honest, are not at all as dependable as advertised); through Littlefinger and Sansa, he technically has the Vale as well, as long as the two of them stay committed to him...and would they if he kneeled?) That being said, I definitely wouldn't expect Dany to understand or accept Jon's refusal to kneel straight away. To me, their initial interactions seem way more natural than if they were immediately BFFs, and Dany dropped her quest for the throne to move her whole force North. That's a huge commitment from her for someone she only just met. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I personally love the development of their alliance, watching, episode by episode, as each comes to understand and identify a little more with the other. In the end, I think the problem is just that many people - and I totally get it! - forget the fact that the viewer's omniscience allows us to know all of the characters and make our own conclusions on where the most pressing matters lie. And it doesn't help that we're all a bit blinded by how badly many of us want our favorite characters to be on the same team.

@@jcompton8507 I completely agree, and I get it! It's not that I don't understand Jon, I do, but ultimately Jon has never followed rules. That's why he always got in trouble in the first few seasons. He sticks to what he considers is right and important, and rolls with it until the end even if it will get him killed. He wouldn't have united the Northeners and the Wildlings if he didn't. Every single move he has taken has always been about some greater good, and bending the knee to get Dany on his side and then convicing his people of his decision later just seemed like something Jon would to me. It seemed in character. I wouldn't have expected Jon to meet Dany and just bend the knee straight away, but considering the Night King is his primary concern and everything he has done to focus all efforts on defeating him, I also didn't expect Jon to hold out with bending the knee for so long. I get them both, but in these first episodes I just understood that Danys request of fealty meant much more to her, than Jons need to hold out did to him. I just understood her stubbornness more than I did Jons. But I also loved the development as it was done. Although this last season was rushed, their relationship felt very natural, so I'm happy for that. They both sacrificed and lost something, and grew a bond and trust through it. Now I'm just super nervous for the last season, because I feel like this season was just a setup for all the shit they're gonna do to all our favorite characters in the end. For some reason I fear Jon and Dany are gonna take the hardest hits in the finale! :(
