Interesting contrast, Neo was calling the game over for a long time and was ultimately incredulous seeing Lyn lose this game after he killed Happy's heroes, but Grubby meanwhile commented on how much Lyn lost while chasing Happy's heroes and was lost afterwards with such a DPS deficit from all the dead wind riders and never seemed to think Lyn in a particularly winning position. Warcraft games truly are tough to read.

Sorry but I think it should be mentioned also that Grubby knows it's a Bo3 and he received 3 game-files from Neo for 3 games. So he knows it goes into Game 3. So Happy had to win this. Watching this live and seeing 38 pop Happy vs 61 pop Lyn I think it's way harder to predict than KNOWING it goes into game 3. No intention to hate on Grubby, his game sense and the way he explains decision making is insane - however, he knew it's going into Game 3 while Neo, watching this live, had no way of knowing how this match turns out! ;)

I think the main turning point was the chasing of Lich and attempt to try and kill Alchemist at the shop around 18:30. UD lost almost everything, but at the same time Orc also handed a bunch of exp to the Alchemist. With Alchemist at level 5, Orc army couldn't deal with him anymore.

Ah man that’s hilarious that when you were talking about pronouncing English words from games I immediately thought back to how much I (as a native English speaker) butchered “fatigue” when I was young (before your chat asked). I pronounced it “fat-i-gooth” which obviously makes no sense. I also didn’t know what it meant for a limb to fall asleep although I had heard the term. So one day when I was a doctor, probably like 8-9 years old, I told them I was concerned because I sometimes had this weird and uncomfortable feeling in my leg or arm that was tingly. It took her a while to realize what I was talking about and she too seemed very concerned for a while. Worst part is she never explained it she just told me it’s nothing to worry about and so I still had to figure it out for myself eventually. Oh and when I was in high school we were playing trivia and one of the questions was to list as many top-10 most populated capital cities in the world. Having never heard it pronounced, I answered “see-ole” for Seoul and my (Korean) teacher was angry in disbelief, he thought I was intentionally mispronouncing it or something.

I don't know if Lyn could have defended the tavern, but not doing so definitely cost him the game. There was never going to be a second, critical-er mass of wyverns that could win after that

I can totally relate to that excursion at the beginning. To this day there exist a plethora of words that I've only ever experienced in writing, never heard spoken, so their pronounciation eludes me.

Yeah, und is the strongest race in the game by far, and this matchup in particular isn't balanced.

Curious about this: if happy scouted it early, couldn't he actually do a successful ghoul rush? You seem to talk about finding it reactively imo. And is wind rider dps that important to reduce compared to hero focus from the ud side? Shouldn't double coil nova be enough generally?

Hi grubby at that voodoo lounge happy actually killed it intentionally earlier before that fight and i thought it was to deny bat riders but also mentioned how clarity would've been so important for lyn

and that's why lyn now camp the tavern after killing the UD heroes, this was another win for the wyvern strat

One thing I didn't understand in the end, why didn't Lyn tempo a bit more , he had an expo , the undead didn't , he could have waited a bit more before engaging , even if it meant that he lost his expo, and have 2-3 more units for the last fight?

I thought it was mandatory to have an altar in order to buy/rebuy from the tavern. Was it always like this or patched recently ?

It's mandatory for hiring a tavern hero in the first place, but not for reviving a hero there. As far as I know, it's always been that way

Probably not. Towering up gives up all map control allowing ud to expand, then the next fight is even worse

Orc units are either ridiculously tanky or they are made of paper. Sure, Taurens have a lot of HP and Armor, but they cant ever hit anything, and just get kited around and slowed. And sure, Wind Riders do a lot of damage and have a DOT, but they die so easily it's almost impossible for them to survive long enough to get more than 1-3 attacks off.

Close game, expo didn't have enough time to swing a w. Wyvs just get dumpstered by that hero combo, and all were high level. Remember, orc is selling most/all of his items to get more wyvs, so when the wyvern count drops to 4 or less the game is basically over

Against elf, level 4 SH is prob the most threatening

honestly, as exciting as this game was, as well as how adrenaline-inducing its fights were, *I honestly think that BOTH players played reaaaaly sub-par* compared to what we're used to by them. Just a few examples: 15:50 -- Happy takes down Lyn's shop, and *Lyn takes **_FOREVER_** to start rebuilding it...* ... Rather than *IMMEDIATELY.* . This all results in him being short of supplies later on. Had he started rebuiling INSTANTLY, he would have had a shop / items ready at later crucial points of the game, and would have easily won. 16:09 -- Fight starts and Lyn's flying units are all conveniently stacked up, just *BEGGING to be Nova'd !!* However, Happy delays mana usage on his heroes for what seems like FOREVER, and doesn't Nova until 16:19 -- at a time when Lyn's flyers are *NO LONGER clumped up !! :O* 16:46 -- Fight ends, and Happy's heroes are TOO FULL of mana, rather than completely empty as is expected from such a long fight (37 seconds). Seriously -- Lich has enough for at least one Nova, whereas DK has only used 1 or 2 coils for the entire duration of the fight... *POOR !!* 19:04 -- Happy should have TP'd *IMMEDIATELY* after acquiring the item on his Alch. *INSTEAD, he stayed for TOO LONG, thus ensuring the following events:* Losing 1 statue, 1 destroyer, _ALMOST_ a *2nd* destroyer *AND* losing ton of HP on his hero that otherwise could have been preserved !! 19:45 -- A viewer asks a *VERY APPROPRIATE QUESTION* , which G strangely dismisses in his commentary: *Why didn't Lyn camp the tavern ??* It's clear that Happy CANNOT contest it at all !! Given how hurt his hero and units are, whereas Lyns' are healthy !! *IN CONCLUSION:* Great game... *POOR plays !! >=(* .

This makes me want to play HU or NE only and spam mana draining units to make the opp heroes into mere "big minions". lol

Why didnt Lyn start playing around his expansion and just wait, build towers?

UD units are very fragile therefore they depend on armor a lot in order to survive and get a coil in time or to escape. Orc’s army has a higher DPS and attack upgrades counters defense upgrades. Plus, Orc has the Shadow Hunter with a superior wave healing.

No the reason for UD air armor upgrades is that they reduce the damage from bat rider explosion. Orc gets attack upgrades because a lot of damage that wind riders take is from spells (Frost Nova and Acid Bomb) so armor upgrades don't reduce this damage. Wind Riders also have low health and high damage so benefit more from attack up grades than armor upgrades.

- From a unit's perspective of trying to stay alive: an armor upgrade gives 2 armor. Two points of armor gives 12% bonus EHP. Each next 2 points of armor also increase the EHP by 12% of the base HP of a unit. - The higher an opponent's attacking physical damage is, the more armor is valuable! Wyverns are glass cannons that excel in high damage but have low survivability. They'll die soon anyway; he's trying to make sure his destroyers live long enough to help his Heroes to kill the Wyvs. Additionally, a source of non-scaling damage here is Batriders' unstable concoction. It is reduced by Physical Armor, which allows a 0/3 Garg to survive 1 batrider explosion, if nothing else hits the Garg. It also makes Destroyers survive 2 bat impacts, whereas an unupgraded Destroyer dies to 2 bats.

@@FollowGrubby i find 3 armor upgrades on gargs just to die to chainlightning/random attack is too expensive. Same for destroyers. 1 bat splash nearby - now destroyer die to same 2 direct bats hits. Also, as gargs and destroyers already have 3 natural armor, +6 from +3 upgrades will increase their ehp not by 36% but by 30.5%; While for wyverns (and other zero natural armor units) vs undead orb (we'll assume in result as -4 natural armor)) => +3 armor upgrades will increase their durability by (1,12 / (1/1,24)) = by +38.88%.

Level 10 is almost never seen in matches. In fact, level 6 heroes are already quite rare, meaning if you get your hero up to level 4, they're basically considered high level.

Level 4 is high but not uncommon. Level 6 is rare, level 8 is virtually unheard of. Level 10 is almost meme-levels of rarity
