UPDATE!!! I have been corrected! You don't need to sit down and plop $12,500 of your own money into a machine in one cruise, (although the wording from Royal Caribbean kind of makes it sound like that.) You can start gambling with much less and still be invited to cruise for free. More important is how much of your winnings are you cycling back through the machine, apparently.

Carnival by far has the best casino cruise point program in the casino! We have taken 3 free cruises in a suite this year with free drinks everywhere across the ship! I typically gamble my budget of $1,500 to do this....

Morgan, the issue with Madonna was that she threatened to blow up the White House, then she said she would move out of the US if someone was elected to president. Well she never moved and still lives here in the US, her comment pretty much alienated more then 50% of her fan base. I was one that did not watch your Madonna video. Instant cruise reward certificate is a letter they deliver to your stateroom toward the end of your cruise and gives you a dollar amount off your next cruise if booked within a specific time frame, usually 30 days. Also, the points are accumulated for every, say 1 point for every $5 bet. But keep in mind that you win and spend the same money over and over. So, say you start with a $100 bill as your budget, and you go down a bit, then win a bit, then rebet the same credits again, and so on. You can earn points several times with the same $100. Also, the casino club can also often offer an upgrade to say a balcony room from an inside room for a smaller cost. It is not super expensive to achieve Pime status with RCL, especially if you go to the casino regularly anyway. You must set a budget and stick to that budget. Points accumulate over a time period and not just for that cruise, say 1 year.

The easiest way to look at it is each slot has a guaranteed payout...from 70% to 92%. Assume the ship will be on the low end, so when you spend 100 dollars, you'd win back 70 in that time (or lose 30). Now this is on average over millions of spins, but given that, when you lose the $100, you'll have on average earned 58 points. This could be more or less on each 100 you spend, but is a good estimate. Someone correct me if my math is out to lunch :) @@MichelleAlexandria-EM

I recently took a 4 day cruise on the Navigator of the Seas. I stayed in an interior room that my bestie had earned for free from her Casino Royals acct. I played so much that at the end of the cruise I earned a Prime status. After I got home I booked a cruise to Alaska for in June and only paid the taxes and port fees. The cost for two totaled $500.00. My room is an ocean view cabin. My bestie reached the same level and booked an free interior room on the Harmony of the Seas for April and just paid gratuities, taxes and port fees. Since we love to gamble, this is a great perk earned for doing what we love.

I earned a free cruise after playing $60-80/night on a three night cruise on Navigator of the Sea. However, I didn’t get a certificate…I got an email. The email stated “based on your casino play, you earned a free interior room on one of the following cruises…”. My wife upgraded to a balcony room and we took a 5 night cruise on Adventure of the Seas to Mexico from TX. My wife keeps asking me how much I wagered and I told her “I don’t know.” However…I did generously tip the roulette dealers. Instead of giving them a portion of my winnings, I placed a bet for the dealer. Usually a split number. If the number hit, it was an $18 tip.

I am a cruise ship casino gambler. My bankroll is $3-5K. My status is Signature. On my complimentary Oasis cruise in October, I ended the cruise with a bit over 9,300 points. I received an instant certificate at the end of the cruise. I was eligible for mostly Junior suite cabins, and some balcony cabins, complimentary, paying only port fees and taxes. The list of available cruises I was to choose from was quite lengthy. While playing the slots, I hit a number of wins. When it was all said and done, I had only played $2,300 of my own money.

I don't think a large buy-in guarantees rewards. In the end, it's how much money is cycled into the machines. Sometimes, being really friendly with the casino hosts can get you some perks. @@clifb.3521

Tier status points are per year, not per cruise. Also, you don't have to spend $5 per point, you circulate $5 per point. It's $5 wagered wether you win or lose. That said, while less transparent, Carnival is EXTREMELY MORE GENEROUS than Royal Caribbean. I only spend, not necessarily lose, a couple hundred dollars per day with Carnival and have several free cruises over the next year including free drinks on the entire ship. Currently in a free balcony on a 15 night cruise to Hawaii with free drinks everywhere as I type this. Leave Royal Caribbean alone and cruise Carnival to feel appreciated in the casino.

You actually accumulate points towards casino status throughout the year, April 1st-March 31st, you don’t need to get 2500 points in a single cruise. Also the free interior room is nice , but I frequently get offers in the mail from Royal for select free cruise’s that do not require you to have prime status, 500$ is enough to start getting those free offers.

Correct, I earned my Prime status on 2 three-night cruises. I spent/gambled approximately $1,000 dollars total to get my Prime status. I could have spent a little less, maybe $100-$150, by staying with cheaper line bets. I only play the slot machines because video poker and table games will you require you to cycle through a lot more money to reach a tier status. The downside is, I spent a lot of time in the casino on those 2 cruises because I was cycling through points at a slower rate, but I did save a heck of a lot of money. RECAP, you don't need to spend, win, or lose a lot of money to get a Casino Royal tier status, it's how much $$$ you cycle through. For example, I spent $100 on a $.25 cent slot machine, sat there for almost 2 hours on same slot machine with the same $100 and earned well over 200 points. Just doing it my way takes longer.

you are correct going on a free cruise in January with Balcony room, just paid port fees and taxes, I might of spent between wife and I $800

Basically, if you get that top-tier in the casino, they are giving you what’s called The Key for your cruise. Which equates to about $50 a day per person if you pay full price for it. Plus more. I would assume that most people that are dropping that kind of money at the casino are getting money back as well. They’re not always losing. If you take that money that you won and dump it back in it counts towards your money. You just cash it out and then spend it in the casino. Don’t spend your winnings by leaving in the machine, cash it and then spend it so it counts as new money.

My last cruise I played thru $51,200. I had four handpays and was up $1700 when I left the ship, plus got free cruise in a suite. So it is very possible to be a winner and get a free cruise. I’ve done it several times!

My first Royal cruise I spent 200 and next week got free cruise offers, 2017. Now 68 free cruises (between Royal and Carnival). 18 pending free cruises booked.

If you gamble on a cruise to just get some sort of benefit you’re going to be disappointed and are missing the concept of the experience. The more often you cruise and gamble the odds improve in your favor. Unless you do a lot of dumb things. I have been cruising for over 15 years averaging 5 to 6 cruises per year and I maintain my prime level every year. Winning and losing i average around 1200 dollars a year of a loss. But I get many free cruises and other perks. Gambling wisely improves your odds.

Wife and me both made prime on one cruise with less than $3000. We got home and combined our instant certificates for a balcony. She received numerous online and mail offers which we again combined with mine Oceanview and balconies. Between now and end of April 5 cruises scheduled. We prefer smaller and older vessels.

Just returned from Wonder of the Seas. I spent $2500 for my balcony. That casino is tight!! I won’t return. I sail “free” on Carnival. I dump $500-1000 per cruise in the slots and win it back half the time. I’ve had 7 free cruises on carnival in 2022, and had 4 this year. While I only get interiors, the ports are great and are 5-7 days, including the Mardi Gras. I hate the slot tickets on Royal as these are A PIA. My casino drinks for me & a companion are free on Carnival. At the end of the day, the cruises are not completely free, but they are much less than Royal will ever be.

I don’t think it works as you are stating. I don’t claim to know the formula, but I have been Prime for years, and I am POSITIVE I never gambled $12K in a year! I always set a budget before I board, and it gets recycled during the cruise. And sometimes, I have a nice win to take home.

Cheryl and I both got to Prime again this year by earning 2500 points over several cruises. our out of pocket cost was less than $1000 for both of us by wining some and then betting that winning amount over and over. We also earned a 2nd free cruise by getting over 2000 points on a single cruise (Cheryl in June and me on our cruise last weekend). So 4 cruises plus free drinks for $1000 (plus port fees and taxes) And we had a great time playing too!

Hey! I'm sure others have answered this but you aren't accounting for expected return to player. At an average of 90% return to player, it's more like $1250 in real losses. That gets you one free 8 night or less cruise (single or double occupancy) plus free drinks all year. That's not to mention the instant certificates and email offers. The first year I hit prime I was offered 13 free cruises and took 7, and with double points for cruising solo I made diamond which is 4x drinks a day outside the casino and other perks. I do spend some time in casinos, and I have to say -- after watching this video -- that Royal Caribbean seems to be less generous with their casino player benefits than some other cruise lines. I'm going on a 10-day Caribbean cruise in a balcony cabin at the end of December that I got free from my preferred cruise line... and no, I didn't play anything close to $12,500 (or even half of that). The cruise ship casino has a payout rate of about 80 percent. So spending 5 dollars to get 1 point is based on manufactured spend. I was definitely after the points on my first cruise. So to recieve 10,000 points it put me $6,500 in the red. Then to book my 'free' cruises I still had to pay port charges and taxes along with costs for excursions. So then I spent another $3,500. Then I started getting more comp cruise offers in the mail. Now I'm at about six comp cruises for the 2024 year. But for excursions, flights, hotels, etc put me out another $10,000 in the hole. I enjoy the free cruise rewards but I'm struggling with having enough time from work and money to enjoy it all. My incentive to not gamble is I don't want anymore free cruises. At this point, I'd rather look online for cruise deals and book that way. Because at the end of the day free isn't really free. I spent $20,000 dollars that I didn't have. But I will get several experiences of a lifetime. But in 2025 if I do cruise I'm going doing one or two cruises tops per year.

You can build up to prime. It’s not all that on one cruise. Also if you play $100 then win $800’and play that money people have won free cruises plus get the free drinks Plus you can combine the free offers for two interiors and make it a balcony or upgrade a bit to a suite. Then get the double points

It's not the amount of money you spend, but the amount of money that passes through a machine. You can put in $10 and win enough to play 200 through the machine.

im pretty sure thats the “coin in” number and all machines are different but lets say you game $500 you can very well hit $10,000 coin in but you win then lose, then win then lose and the avg pay out is approx 85%

I think you got it right when you said that you have to consider your winnings. If the slot machine payout is 90%, then $12500 becomes $1250. Still a ridiculous amount. lol.

I assume the instant award certificate is the one you get in your cabin on the last day, with an offer based on your play. Could be free play on a future cruise, could be a free cabin. I had planned to experiment on Holland America by playing a chunk of money on penny slots for as long as possible... but when I ended up ahead by $1100 after about 20 minutes, I took it as a sign from the universe and just cashed out. Still got a certificate for $100 free play on a future cruise.

If the house edge on the game played is 1%, then for $12,500 coin-in you lose $125 only. Most video poker and slots have a higher house edge than that, but we’re not talking about $12.5k in losses either. That’s the good news, this program isn’t completely worthless.

We had made friends on one of our Norwegian cruises a few years back who played enough to get free redbulls in the Casino which was cool lol my husband and I are Canadian so no programs like that exist here but they gave us some of their free redbulls which was cool 😅

I play in the casino and I cruise with Princess. I heard that 7500 points gets you a free cruise but that needs to be earned on one cruise. I did get a certificate $250 in casino play for a future cruise. I got a couple free drinks from the casino host on that cruise. I got 2 cruises for really cheap prices because I am a casino player. $176 + taxes each for a mini suite on a 7 day Mexican Rivera cruise is not too shabby.

That cruise I got the $250 on was also a 10 day so more days to be able to play. I believe table games get you more points because my husband played slots and only got $150 free play.

You don't spend the full 12,500. If you lose 20%, it costs 2,500 but that is in a full year of cruises if you do more than one per year.

I love old school Madonna so would love to attend a concert.

Sadly I live 90 mins away from Orlando and Miami is a 5 hr drive. It annoying because it's hard to get a direct flight. Most flights force you to connect through Atlanta or North Carolina which is stupid as f. If I drive to 90 mins to the train station, I might as well drive to Miami. It sucks..

It's coin in not money spent. Roughly 90% return on slots, down to 98% on high denom video poker. At least for land-based casinos, they count coin-in per day to get your estimated losses and give back roughly 35% of that in comps. Cruises can potentially give away 100+% of your estimated loses in comps and still be profitable since you still pay gratuities, taxes, add-ons. Best way to figure out how much coin-in per day required to get free cruises is to look at other people's experiences.

You can't go by that sheet, I spend $100 a day in the casino. My last 9 cruises with Royal Caribbean have been free. 2 of those cruises, I didn't even play. I haven't been on Carnival in several years, and I just received several free cruise offers.

When you are talking about casino tier points, the word is not "spend". It is "play thru". You play $5 and earn a point, you could win none, some, all or more than all of that money back. So you can play a $1000 with $100 bankroll if things go well.

I did watch your Madonna video (I should say I watched the other parts of your video and fast-forwarded through Madonna because I am really not a fan) because I enjoy supporting your channel and giving you a "Like". Sorry the video didn't do so well but as long as you enjoyed the concert, that's all that matters.

You still pay taxes and port fees and gratuities. Free drinks in the casino is only if your actively playing and it takes forever to get service. You can’t just go to the bar.

You don't necessarily need to loose $12,500 for the second tier, you just need to wager it. If the slots are paying out 85%, then you will lose about $1875 when earning status and win the rest back. At double occupancy, you would need to lose a combined $3750 to get an inside cabin for 7 nights. Not great, but not that horrible.

Yes. Table games are much better, slots are the worst odds. I did a quick test of gambling on a craps table, $15 minimum with 3x4x5x odds, playing pass line with full odds and sometimes placing 6 and 8. After 33 rolls I had risked over $3,200, which would represent about 15 minutes of playing time, and an average wager of $100/roll. At that rate I could risk $12,500 in an hour. I was actually up over $400, but could easily be down as much, or more probably closer to even. Craps has one of the smallest house edges in the casino, and you can risk small amounts for a long time and come close to even, much better than slots. So I suggest learning craps as an alternative to slots. Oh, and make sure they mark your play so you get the points.

I just skipped the Madonna video, but I was in a cruise with limited internet. I used to spend more time in the casino. Celebrity my main cruise line went to continuous shufflers so now I play very little. I do play slots if I have match play from casino or won from Deal or No Deal. There was only o e.game this cruise so I turned the $15 into $30. I played a half hour on tables and won $6. I quit when ahead or lose $100 on tables. I count how much match play so I don't play anything won. Cruises do not have good odds.

Public transit is a great way to get around, if you are ever in Vancouver heading to the cruise port there the SkyTrain is without question the bext way to get to there, it is also the best way to get to the airport

Wager vs Spend.

Save your money. No company will give you anything FREE if they did they'd go out of business. If your mad to spend your hard earned cash in the Casino just be careful.

I don’t think this is a clear explanation of the casino system. Necessarily a person who gambles may not spend that much money as they also receive winnings and that money it’s pulled out and then replayed, some one who is lucky may spend 1000-1500 but they keep winning and re playing it. I know many people who do that and they always win in the casino at the end they get the money back they started with and point are accumulated and this is how they always get free cruises with balcony and additional play money and drinks included while they play. And they always get those letters to book within a certain time for a future free casino stateroom. Other times the casino promotions are available to reserve as long as they provide their cruise line membership number.

Be interesting if you could do a collab with Chris Wong and he could explain how all the points work, etc. I know I get free rooms in Las Vegas and Reno and I know for sure I don't spend much of my own money. Not sure how this works on cruise ships.

The casino is not a win-win situation…but getting points for something you were going to do anyway plus. Kind of like getting points for flying or using a credit card. The timeframe to collect point is a year, so if you cruise several time in a year it is easier to get to prime. Which also means you get to enjoy your benefits on more cruises as well. But yeah you could take the money (real cost $1,500) and pay for your own drinks and cruise….but then you have to ask yourself are you really not gamble? For those who don’t gamble it isn’t a choice

I’m not a gambler but unless they have changed how they calculate the points I don’t think you have to spent that much. Granted this was almost 10 years ago but my mom who would play the slots on cruises was able to get free or greatly reduced cruise fairs & I know for sure she didn’t spend that much. If I remember correctly she only spent about 3k over several cruises before she got her first free cruise offer. Also, I do think the points rollover to your next cruise but I’m not sure on that. I’ll also say this, don’t gamble in the casino with the purpose of trying to get a free or reduced cruise fair. If you are doing it for fun & you are sticking to a gambling budget have at it. However you are not actually getting a free or reduced fair cruise by gambling because you have already at bare minimum paid for your next cruise by the time you get any of those rewards.

LOL you might as well just pay for that cruise instead of gambling. You're just prepaying for that cruise.

There is a neutral strategy for roulette, where you have to toss in like 500.. But the win lose rate is 40/60.. And you can spend 20-30k In an hour but only be down maybe 1-2k, maybe lucky and your up..

Wow. This explains how Carnival is giving away cruises right and left on Casino offers. I was on my first Carnival. I played the slots and lost the $20 i had. I got 19 points.

So if I'm really lucky with my $6 of C&A free play and win the jackpot, then spend it all on slots I can win a free cruise?

I met 2 ladies on Holland America in the casino. They were on there 3rd week of 6 weeks cruising free from their gambling. I was amazed the one lady spent 5 thousand dollars in one night and was complaining as she never got a bonus, but kept feeding the slot. Her friend kept on telling her that is why it's called gambling. The one lady had free drinks in the casino. I enjoy gambling for entertainment, but I will not give the casino that much money. I will pay for my room and enjoy spending what I think a responsible person should spend.😊

I'm not much of a Madonna fan. Sure, I loved her music in the 80s, and there's no doubt she's highly talented, but I think I've only bought one of her albums (on cassette tape!).
