    You know....IF Kubrick had indeed "faked" the moon landings, then I wouldn't put it past him to shoot it on the moon. He's just that kind of filmmaker!

    I reflexively think of that every time I see a picture of flat Earth, and then I remember... flerfs think everything around the Earth is up or down. So they would think nothing is on the underside, because they expect it to fall "down," away from the underside. They don't believe in gravity.

    someone should make a map of Australia using the flat earth map. it would look insane. then when a flat earth believer wanted to talk to you you could just pull out the incredibly distorted map of Australia and tell them this is what you think Australia looks like

  • @MrApolloTom

    @MrApolloTom

    5 жыл бұрын

    The flat earth (and related creationist) technique is to assess each piece of evidence on its own and come up with an invented counter-argument (Australia's not as big as they claim/bigger than they claim). Then assess the next thing and come up with an unrelated or inconsistent counter argument. Once you assess it as a whole it's worthless compared to a mostly complete scientific model.

    I hate saying anything positive about Mark the living Dunning-Kruger effect, but he got one thing technically right, the best kind of right if you watch Futurama. He said it completely wrong but I get it. Either he's trying to say that is the most extreme direct line between two points, greatest direct distance, or they're antipodes on a globe for the sake of globe-head argument, and thus from any conceivable direction it's the same extreme distance.

    See, at least Hollow Earth has some fun fantasy fiction to use. Verne, Burroughs, Lovecraft- up to Godzilla. Flat earth is just boring as a fictional concept, and that's all it'll ever be. Seriously, is a conspiracy and an ice wall the best they can come up with? Come on guys, if you want to go completely nuts, go with something that's got established cool stories.

    Mouse prison? Pretty sure that was a subplot of Muppets in Space when Rizzo's made a lab rat. Cue Survival and Getaway- all we need is a Mice Girls poster for the Shawshank escape Well, a fence WOULD be smarter than the people who made this movie Wait, God is running the hunger games, so that means praying doesn't mean anything, he doesn't want anyone's souls, and he just is using entertainment. Are you SURE you're a Christian, bud?
