Kids don't realize that 30 years ago no one had a personal giant trampoline. This was actually a novel idea at one time. They also don't realize that this particular part of his set was already a full hour after he did normal standup without any props. And when the couch came out the background people went nuts because they new something weird had to be coming eventually. It is Gallagher after all.

The show that had this big couch was one of the best, but the beginning was better than the couch sequence. I bought 2 of his tapes and was disappointed. The ones I taped myself are the best shows. One tape worked ok and the other one had bad audio and couldn't hear him. I hear he's still performing - hope so. I'm still a fan and looking for DVD's of the good shows.

Saw Gallagher twice and loved it! If you have ever dealt with performers, you will find out they require recharge time to try to get back to some sort of balance. Interuptions to their routine (and sometimes their ritualistic process of getting back in balance) can sometimes prompt an unpleasant outburst. Don't you want to unwind and chill after a tough day at work? Let them do it their way. You got your performance and that is what you paid for when you bought you ticket. Now go home!

Amanda Carter Ikr they are just bandwagoning on the gallagher hate train
My mom used to watch Gallagher when I was little. This transports me right back to childhood.
The big comfy couch with the clown and molly, her dolly
That looks fun as hell.
Gotta love Gallagher! This brings back some memories of laughing 'til I passed out! *Don't remember much after, though...*
Gallagher was the king of props for comedians
I don't understand the insane amount of dislikes, I mean, all he is doing is trying to entertain, no need to hate.
I remember this man as a kid watching on comedy central before they were awful and all I remember before I knew Gallagher name was "comedian big couch Zen" and here we are....memories
What I want is just a normal size couch with that awesome monster puppet so I could have it just randomly pop out at people who sat down.
This guy taught Carrot Top everything he knows about prop comedy.
I love Gallagher.
so underrated.

Now, there's some value for money!!
Wisdom from the late Gallagher - potato chips are much larger than blow dryers. RIP, funnyman!
I found out that this was made in 1983 (I thought it was made in 1978), so I was like 2, 3 years old when this was made, so yeah, this is of my time. I grew up watching this guy!
Sigh I remember watchin this when I was a kid... Wow I am typing this when I first clicked it I had no idea this was the trampoline couch!!!! I loved watching this when I was younger HAHAHAH I always wanted that couch!!!

The big comfy couch!
comedy gold
Funny, when I saw this on TV i don't remember it being so blurry! Nice going!
OK Gallagher did it first with the big couch 🛋️ but years later, this cartoon woman had a TV show and it was called the big comfy couch 🛋️ I’m not sure if that’s based off Gallagher’s big couch 🛋️ but if it is now, you know where it came from
Gallagher always made me laugh. This is one is definitely one of my favorites!
..One day...I will get a couch just like that one, but in a different color and fabric. It is gonna be sweet.
I always loved Gallagher, he can just talk and entertain
This is literally a visual representation of how I feel coming home crossfaded af at like 7 am
Still Love Gallagher! Brilliant writer, and comedian!
I do miss him he was fantastic the young generation missed out on the best error of our time!
A giant couch with style
Live!! Lucky enough to have been there.. Yep, I sure was 🤣
If there has ever been a genius comedian its him
I remember watching him and Ron Lucas an Jeff Mellman the Chinese wonder on HBO back in 82.
I saw this special as a kid and this couch blew my fucking mind.
He was on O & A today (5/22) and was fuckin' great!!!
great, great comedian.
Rest in blissful comedy, you crazy crazy man!
RIP, Gallagher 🙏
i love his routines god i hope he still does this I want a front row seat
He is so cute long as he keeps his cap on....😊👍😊
Socks removal champion right here
The show that had this big couch was one of the best, but the beginning was better than the couch sequence.
THAT'S SOOO FUNNY ITS A GIANT POTATO CHIP!!11!!!11!!!!!! OH MY GOD HE'S JUMPING ON A GIANT COUCH- THAT IS GEEEEENIUS! GALLAGHER IS TRULY THE GREATEST COMEEDIAN!
A lot of wet blankets here. Admit it, this is so stupid it's hilarious, that's the idea!

@geezusispan It was the '70's, back when people could have a laugh over something silly without some entitled brat having to be a snowflake about everything.

Man, the audience acts as if they've never seen a giant couch before.

He reminds me of a child so much xD this guy's seriously awesome!
There are a whole range of IQs in the human population. Can you guess which end of the scale finds this funny?

Waal, I realize that many intellectuals and deep thinkers may find this sort of slapstick comedy dull, but I'm an engineering major with a tested IQ of 163, and I done laughed my ass off, my friend.
Gallagher has always been one of my all-time favorite comedians, and I wasn't even born during his time! Less talk, more sledge! LOLz!
My left ear really enjoyed this
