Well, no. This mystra (midnight) is not that ancient. Mystra the goddess died twice, replaced by fresh mortal with same portfolio and similar name. Most recent was during time of troubles (1358 DR). Game is set in 1492 DR, so she should be around 150 god years old.

MidMystra is still a couple of power levels above Gale at this point. she's above a good chunk of the pantheon.

Mystra's secret was that she was more powerful than any god, save for Lord Ao, but therein lay the secret. Roughly half of her power lay in her Chosen and in the lesser power Azuth, as planned by Ao so that Mystra did not rule all Realmspace. (forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mystra_(Midnight))

@@hinzaro-3432 well it's not weave - so not really her buiseness. And she did sent elminster, if only to help gale unalive himself, therefore preventing danger to the weave from carsus leftovers. I also think that it's in 5e lore that gods chose to distance themselves from the affairs of mortals, three severely depowered clowns notwithstanding. You are in a way god's pawn and a way to sort out this mess, it's just not mystra who is guiding and assisting you.

@@hinzaro-3432 In Shadows of the Avatar, she is described as more powerful than any god (save Ao). The major catch is that roughly half of Mystra's power lies in her Chosen and in the Lesser Power Azuth; Ao arranged things this way so that Mystra would not rule all Realmspace.

@@ryannelson5148That’s the whole point of Gale’s story. He’s over ambitious and power hungry, which always comes to bite him in the ass. His good ending is learning to let go of that lust for power.
