Yup, I can safely say that this is hurting my view of the reputation of the company now. I was going to buy the new S10/X when it came out but after having this happen to my S7 Edge, I reconsidered.

I don't think so. I bought an A50 just seven days ago. It didn't heat up nor fell anywhere and yet a white line emerged. Nah I think its the company's faulty product. They just wanna make the users use up their free display change ASAP.

I put a new screen in mine and had no issues until I tried Gear VR, the phone would get so hot it would switch off mid game, if I only knew I never would've used it, essentially Samsung are responsible for this but I have no warranty.

If you get a app that uses almost 100% of your cpu cores and it heats up the glue gets loose and you get the pink line. What I did to fix was get a phone heater app off of the play stored set it to highest cpu usage let the temps rise and put a soft rubber clamp on top right of phone screen squeeze it enough that it doesn't break but enough that the pink line fades then turn the phone off let it cool down. Take the clamp off and the glue must have gone back into place enough that u haven't had a problem since.

Hi. My Samsung Galaxy s6 edge has a flickering problem. I was watching a video and it suddenly went black and it had about 10% battery life. I try to turn it on but on the upper third of the black screen flickers. It vibrates for when it charges and gets unplugged. I can't turn it on. I press the home key and it starts to flicker but when I press the power key it stops. I have tried to put it on safe mode and tried to force stop but I doesn't budge. If anyone has a fix or a solution, plz reply soon.

OK, so after 2 years, the pink line appeared on my s7 edge.... when you mentioned the ribbon cable I had an idea and started pressing down on the screen at the top, slightly to the left and a bit under the selfie camera and tadaaam! The pink line disappeared completely... when I let go it came back but this gave me an idea... somehow keep the screen pressed with a clip of some sort and heat up the phone to have the glue soften... hopefully this DIY fix will work fine :D Nice vid by the way! keep it up!

I was getting over my anger with this pink line issue since I went out and spent another 550 dollars on the the new HTC U11 after only having the Samsung for a little over a year. How does Samsung get away with putting out a Faulty product??? They should step up and replace them all. It cost me close to 400 to fix the screen, only to have the issue start up again 4 months later. People who fixed it only gave me a 90 day warranty so also got screwed by them.....lol. Crazy.

The pink line goes on and off when I apply some pressure to the top part of the screen where the speaker and samsung logo are located. So my guess is it must have something to do with the ribbon cable. Thanks for info

i have the pink line for more than 6 month and it mess with the way u handle calls, when you answer a call and the screen turn black, it can become unresponsive and can only be responsive again when u end the call and press the power button, you have to have always on display turn on because it is impossible to have your phone turn back on.

After applying a bit of pressure by gently pinching the front and back of the phone near the top of the pink line (for me near the front camera) it disappeared and hasn't come back yet. This just started to happen on my S7edge. Bought on contract through EE in 2017 and you guessed it - 25 months later- a problem occurs - it is the British way. I got what looked like a one pixel wide pink line down the right hand side of the screen as seen in other phones. I watched a few videos on here and tried cycling through the RGB screens as shown in this and other videos - no luck. What did work was squeezing the phone. A few videos show people tearing the phone down to insert a piece of cardboard or plastic to push down on the loose glue. I noticed that this area is roughly behind the speaker/Samsung logo at the top/front of the phone. So, with the screen on, I squeezed in this area and the line disappeared. I assume that I have pressed down on the loose glue/cable/whatever and have pushed it back in place. We'll see when it reappears huh? Worth a try? YMMV.

I bought my S7 Active in July 2016 and it;s having the pink line on the right side of the screen too. It was not dropped and I've had it in a case (Poetic) it's whole life. It developed after having it in my pocket. I think the problem is related to a combination of heat and body flex.

Hello, I had this issue today and the resetting of the colour settings did not work for me. What DID work was gently pressing on the top bezel of the phone in various spots....magic...lines are gone. Apparently, that was all that was necessary to reset the glue. I saw it on another video addressing this issue but this video explains the issue very well.

intially resetting pixels did the job. but now its not going. apparently pressing the phone near the top of the display solved the issue temporarily for me. just try pressing close to the screen and the sensors, you may find the sweet spot and suddenly you will notice that the line disappears

Proper info: It's the same thing as with TV panels, the COF bonding between the flex cable and the panel get's loose and than you get lines. You can't repair such a problem at home because you need special equipment for re-bonding the flex and also mainly are repaired TV's with such a problem and not Phones. Some more info: Samsung is a bad company when it comes to Oled and Plasma TV's, their LCD's have the least problems. Their Oled panels have from the begining problems like dead pixels, lines and burn-in. Plasma panels were good till 2009 from that time on till end of production in 2014 the panels had many problems with vertical lines caused by dead IC controllers that were bonded with panel's flex cable, dead Y-sus and X-sus boards, dead power boards etc. LCD's are easy fixable because there are more or less only two boards in a new TV, the panels itself aren't that bad but mainly cheap components on those boards (like cheap capacitors that they've used in the past)...

You cant just reglue the ribbon cable. Its called ACF glue which is a thermally applied conductive bonding strip. My suspicion is that samsung stressed the boundaries of low working temps in order to make aftermarket repair more difficult. Basically, if you get the ribbon cable lcd around 60c then the glue (reminder: which uses microscopic electrical bonding agents inside the glue that have to be aligned properly using a $2000+ for it to work) will soften and the ribbon will adjust further out wack then it was. In my testing, if you go above 80c then you risk debonding the entire strip, at which point you will have earned yourself a blank black screen. In my opinion this was a failed planned obsolescence. Samsung wantef to make edge glass unrepairable in the aftermarket. Bit them in butt when it started happening from normal use. I say this because traditional ACF should have a bonding temp well over 100c, but this stuff is failing at ultralow temp... Seems a bit shady to me, but thats my opinion. Youll have to form your own. Long story short Manufacturers want to control the lifecycle of your phone and they prefer/need you to buy a new one every year. New tech in cellphones has slowed way down, so their only route left is planned obsolescence. If that makes you angry then go sign up for right2repair.

tellMeSomething iDontKnow do i have any hopes of fixing this issue with an aftermarket display i bought one bescause my original display broke.

Albion Tusha Yes. An aftermarket replacement display is probably the only reliable option. However, now used s6 and s7 edge units are usually available for purchase. If youre in the usa, then you can search your local facebook marketplace. Sometimes the used option is cheaper than aftermarket new as amoled screens are expensive. Another option is to find a refurbisher that has the equipment and ability to restrap the connections using new ACF tape... If you want to go this route, the look for china based vendors with youtube videos. That the only way ive seen it advertised. Cons for this... Long waits and no guarantee of success.

Had a thin pink line show up tonight. Pushed on the upper right hand of the phone near the front camera slightly and the line went away luckily. Must be the loose ribbon connection etc instead of software in my case. Hopefully stays gone. Even a thin line is majorly annoying. Def dont want to deal with blow drying and disassembly for the plastic card insert fix, but it's out there and free to diy at least

I downloaded Pixel Fixer from Google Play Store per an online recommendation and ran it for about 40 minutes then exited out and the pink line on my S7 Edge is gone!!! Just did it so not sure how long it will last or if it's a Permanent fix. If you try and it works for you, plz give this post a like and comment. Also comment if it doesn't work as I want to see how many are successful.
