Worked great. Took 45 minutes. Had the new circuit but forgot to get the screen adhesive tape. Toughest part was getting the phone body out of the chrome frame. Ugh. Screen came up easily when heated.

Best video I have seen for taking apart a S5. I followed directions but I spent more time taking out the amoled display just to be on the safe side. I used a heat gun while using a infrared thermometer to keep temperature around 140 degrees F spread evenly on the glass for most of the time..

just did this swap out following ur vid...very helpful. Thank u. Just a word of caution to those trying this...@6:07-6:12 prying on the upper rt side working down...there are soft brass tab/contacts that get flattened from behind the circuit board. Upon putting my s5 back together the first time the port worked but the screen didnt turn on. In he 2nd try, i noticed those brass tabs were too flat and werent making contact. I went around the perimeter and gently pryed them out a bit (4 or 5 tabs). Worked like a charm :)

Hey i just replace my charging flex just like what you did and it turns great. However i did notice something new to my phone. First, when i charge my phone back button is not working but when remove the charger back button is working fine although you need to put more pressure to make it function not like before just a simple tap and back button is working. 2nd, when im going to a dial/call it is very delay to response to make a call. What do u think is the problem?

I did this and it took over 4 hours. Trying to get started getting the LED screen off is extremely difficult! You need tweezers, scalpel to cut adhesive and lift the edge up to get a spacer in, spacers (paper or plastic like picks or playing cards), tiny screwdriver, light, and magnifying glasses if you are older. Everything went ok because I was being very careful and going very slowly. The antenna wires are really hard to get to snap back on. I had to use more pressure than I wanted and I thought I was going to ruin them. My G900V had 2 TWO wires, not one as the video shows. Once I got everything back together, my phone would not power up at all....no vibration when I powered it on. Nothing. I took everything back apart. Checked all connections to make sure they were still plugged in correctly and put it together just enough to get the battery in so I could push the power button, nothing. Then I noticed what one poster below mentioned. BRASS TABS!!! When you are shoving things inside to release the screen, you are also crushing down all these CONTACT TABS that are on the control board that must touch the contact plates on the inside of white front cover. Look at the location of those plates and find the brass tab for it and pry those up so they are a bit more than 45 degrees up..don't break them. There are many of them. After I did that, it powered up and worked!

Before you go through all this trouble try blowing the port out with compressed air after spraying a shot of QD electronic cleaner. Use a tiny flathead screwdriver to gently and carefully move thin cotton fabric or paper shop towel over the contacts, or use a clean toothbrush. I did all of the above and my old charging port works again.

I got the message that the charger or cord was not the original and that the one I was using was incompatible with my phone. Sometimes it would charge for a couple of minutes then it stops and I get this message. I've been charging with different cords and different chargers for years and never had a problem. I looked for apps to diagnose and/or fix it to no avail. The phone is getting old so I'm sure techs have more interesting things to do. All the info is old now. I also got the port sharing message saying I should get the app for it. It wasn't available at Samsung. The app I found was on Playstore and showed one page that doesn't move until you attach the phone to another device. I finally just sent for a new charge port and installed it. I haven't had a problem since. It was not an easy job. If you're not good at fixing electronic gadgets don't attempt it. Getting the glass off the front without breaking it was kind of hair raising. I've had cords go bad on me in the past. It's frustration when they work if you bend them one way and not the other. If you keep getting these messages, don't kid yourself it's a bad charging port. I had another phone like this with a port that had a metal piece work loose inside the port. When I plugged it in, it shorted the wires. I wedged it back into position with a needle using a microscope. It didn't do lasting damage. The computer that I had it plugged into kinda went berserk for a minute. It shut down the usb port temporarily.

This was bought here in 2018 from TechBuyCanada back in 2018....it was actually under 12 bucks, much cheaper now but I think I'll try your seller since it didnt work out with them. I don't even think I'll wait for them to reply simply bcuz so much time as pass! I guess I probably don't mind doing it again bcuz it was so detailed and I did it before without incident other than a faulty part! Thanks once again for responding...really appreciate it!

at $2 cost, why would not replace the adhesive?? it could allow moisture and water to get into the device without a proper seal

+me2dumb4college i watched a different video that didnt emphasize the importance of the adhesive, and ordered my port without ordering the adhesive and was hoping my phone would be okay for a few days without the adhesive.
