Galaxy S23 Ultra in 2024 - STILL GOOD?

Ғылым және технология

I have had the Galaxy S23 Ultra for 12 months now. Ahead of #galaxyunpacked I reflect back on what it's been like with Samsung's current Ultra flagship.

I've had this since it was launched. For the first time, I'm not in a hurry to upgrade to the next one. Not ruling it out LOL. But not tired of the s23 yet. Battery is still holding up as is the hardware and the software. It's been a great phone and I've had several Galaxy flagship phones since the s4.

I just love the non-chamfered sharp edged square design. It's a bliss to read on this thing. I read books and heavily consume articles and newsletters everyday. I feel after getting the s23U, I have started reading more, thanks to the ultra level display. With that camera, I take pictures of aircrafts flying at 20,000+ feet and identify the aircraft type. I used to do this with my binoculars earlier but now I do it with my s23U lol. PS: Switched from the iPhone SE 2020 and had been an ios user since 6 years.

I pulled my trigger on s23 ultra recently and owh boy how i like it very much. I came from s10 plus so i well versed on one ui and it feature pack os. and when a reviewer mentioned about single take camera mode, i know for a fact that he use the phone in his daily life and not just do it for the sake of reviewing, i'm very happy with my s10 plus before, but when it start show sign of aging (mainly the battery life), choosing s23 ultra have been an easy choice for me as my daily driver for next 3-4 year especially now samsung promises software updates for that period of time

10:27 As a Samsung user, I've come to know that there is always some small little things that you come to know about their new flagship if you use it continuously for a long time. Unless that you are not using it at all and can't get to know all of those then give a proper review, stating it's the same thing just little better. But especially Samsung always has something more which they and reviewers barely talk about. And for that I appreciate your effort and admit that your review is much more realistic and Truer.

Thanks for the best review! Could you check the performance of office applications with big Word or Excel files in DEX mode? For example, huge Word files slow down on my laptop with Core i5 11th gen, especially when web browser is open. What about web browsing in DEX mode with dozens of tabs open? Does it slow down as on MS Windows? Can you work with Excel databases in DEX mode? Making pivot tables, building graphs from huge data sets and is it feels the same convenient as on PC or Laptop with external monitor?

People tend to say that this feature is not for them, but they just used the phone for 2 months or more only. When you use a phone for more than 6 months to a year, the features that you think you don't need at first will suret be the features you'll get used to and find it on your next phones.

You know what? That was a really great review! I've watched it from Devon in the UK, I'll tell you what I think. I bought the Google Pixel 4xl, 6 Pro, 7 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max (I updated yearly), I now have the pixel 8 Pro. The pixel camera has always been good, but the 8 Pro in my opinion isn't as good as last years 7 Pro, the 15 Pro Max good phone, camera good but the dynamic range was lacking, on 8 Pro that is good, but the pics look so dam dark! I'm 72 soon and like to keep up with technology, i joined a s22/s23 ultra group to see what the pics look like, as I'm seriously considering selling my pixel for the S24 Ultra out next week, I think it'll be a great phone and camera with the additional AI etc. it's a good job I'm not a shoe & handbag fanatic as well! I think the last Samsung phone I had was one of the first notes with a pen, but the antenna was rubbish and barely got signal on any network I tried, so I had to return it, I had a 7S I think that was the name, so I can't imagine how far Samsung has come from those days. Cheers for this video it's helped me feel I'm doing the right thing going with the S24 Ultra! 👍🏻👌🏻👋🏻😊❤️

I think my favorite part of the video was the ecosystem part. Now that Samsung is offering proper long term support for their products, the gap is really closing on Apple. I never thought I would use any tablet besides an iPad until I bought the tab S8 Ultra. I have used both ecosystems and genuinely prefer Samsungs because of the customization and partnerships to companies like Microsoft. That being said Macbooks are awesome if you don’t care about gaming or upping the ram manually. Desktops on the other hand still goes to Windows.

You really put together a great video on S23 Ultra...don't like FOLD or FLOP but think S23 Ultra is great...I got S22 Ultra that I had major problems with...like last year updating to 5.1 took 2+ days...went to Tmobile and on wifi my S20+ download great but same Sim card in S22 Ultra took forever...then too to UBreakit and they couldn't find a problem...then did System Reset and that temporarily fixed...so not sure whether to upgrade to S23 Ultra or S24 Ultra...think upcoming AI is overrated and and coupled with 100 Zoom digital is making me lean to S23 Ultra....think it's at least best phone before S24 Ultra...and liked what you said about using S Pen and Samsung Notes and using certain phone and camera functions on uncommon occasions...Think you aced this review

If u play a demanding game with Gaming Hub Settings (Pause USB PD Charging on Games) 25W+ Power Charger Required. Games are smoother and more stable fps, without any heat on battery, Charger Power Is Passing Battery On more demanding games and give direct power to Processor, also slowly charge your phone, u need to have 20%+ battery to do this. Another example i can run PS2 Emulator God Of War 2 on 4X Scale(2.5 scale max on battery perfformance mode), 60 FPS stable with 25W charge, i wonder what 45W can do! This Phone is Companion you can see farther, you can play longer and when i get the Dolby sound EQ right this phone sound better than laptop. When i was a kid in 2006 i always was looking with better sound quality built phones, Walkman, Nokia X-pert music phones era, man this hit's hard. S23 Ultra changed my life too, i m Not Alone

Coming from an iphone, I think this phone has too many options its overwhelming. The thing that frustrates me most, is I have 512 gigabyte storage. But I keep getting emails that my Google storage is full and the phone can no longer make back-ups, what's the phone storage for then? I dont understand it. I am too much of a noob to figure this out or too old or both. But its fast and the screen is great as is the battery.

The issue u have is that you are backing up everything, and you are not using the native phone storage itself. You may need to make sure you are using the native on board 512gb storage and just use the Google backup storage for the most important things u wouldn't want to loose in case anything happens. Your Google storage can't take everything on the phone. Try to set the phone to not sync everything and try to set the phone storage as primary storage. I hope that helps.

*As a ex-iPhone user (and new S23U user) I can tell you even MORE what so-called KZread tech reviewers do not cover - REPAIRABILITY - Galaxy back glass replacement cost like stupid $10-20 and 5 minutes to repair - on iPhone now it is better but in those iPhone 14 Pro and older back glass repair cost like $100-200 - then NO PARTS SERIALISATION - when you break FaceID in iPhone better say good bye to your iPhone as it is BETTER to buy....... new one - this is how bad it is. Then battery replacement in Galaxy is through back of the phone which means ZERO stress if you break $10-20 back glass - iALL iPhones you have to go through fragile display - one smallest mistake and GOOD BYE $200-400 - charging port in ALL iPhones is HELL to replacement - you have to remove EVERYTHING inside iPhone and you think this is simple as in Galaxy - like one kind of screws - I wish you good luck - you will need it - and you put one screw in wrong hole and GOOD BYE $500 motherboard*

It won't last years to come it'll suffer screen burn after 16 months as per all Samsungs I've had and still have laying in the drawer with screen burn it's a horrible thing to start to notice when taking a photo one day you just make it out and seems to jsut get worse from there! This is with a new device on dark mode from new and adaptive screen brightness it still done it no way getting round it keeping the phone cool helps and don't use it while charging my s20 ultra s21 ultra s22 ultra all have it, and I'm so annoyed as its nearing time for the s23 ultra to start it's burn in! They are doing it on or near the same time frame aswell, I thought dark mode and adaptive brightness was the key but my s22 ultra is actually worse being left on dark mode

I hate how inconsistent samsung phones are. The s22 ultra was a mess. Im saying that on mine right now. I get that the s23 ultra is amazing, but i just feel burnt. I also feel like my m1 macbook air has been so amazing that i want to try an iphone for the first time. Is what it is. I have been buying samsung phones for a long time. S9 to s20u to s22u. The s9 was fine, the s20u felt good but the speakers got a massive downgrade for some reason. Coming from the s9 that had fabulous speakers, that sucked. Then the s22u, just a horrid phone. I have the snapdragon version and its so janky. The animations look worse than previous phones. Scrolling has jitters . Just bad. Then the s23 ultra came out and its amazing.... Anyways, just my two cents.

Samsung must address shutter lag, even faster shutter the phone should do more processing mostly HDR. Also Samsung must tone down oversharpening and mimics professional photo looks. The AI processing can be on and off altogether

sorry I'm watching your videos and they are very good...but please just quit that S23 ULTRA is a good phone. It has lousy camera...it overexposes the pictures. I have some pictures but I can't upload them. The pictures have no contrast they are dull and lack of color. In the same place the picture was taken with iPhone. Better natural colors and pictures not overexposed. I can't share with you the pictures to see the difference. I played also with advanced settings...garbage camera sensor .

The phone is good but it's not hand and pocket friendly. The majority of us that bought it would not keep our SIM in it. It is a house phone, not a pocket phone. Samsung must slim down this device to make it handy. And One UI has tinted the pictures with more green than the one we were already complaining about.

I'm catching myself hoping S24 Ultra will be worse in someway than previous model, only not to get a FOMO . The truth is that S23 Ultra is the best phone I ever had and I'm not even using its full potential. So I don't want to upgrade in this year or even in next 2 or 3 years. S24 Ultra may be more powerful but what for ? My model can deal whit any task with no sweat. It may be the best phone ever made.

Huge discrepancy between official (paid???) reviews on many known GSM sites, and ordinary, regular users. 1) shutter LAG 2) objects in movement in low light - lack of sharpness. 3) camera is not repetitive. 10 photos in the same conditions may vary as hell. 4) too much postprocessing. faces dont look natural. It is all about SGS23U. So ? What's the truth ?

  • @techwithbenefits

    @techwithbenefits

The truth is that people share their experiences on the phone. A lot of review sites will test things out to the extreme that a general user is unlikely ever to notice or interact with, and then they amplify that in a review. My reviews are my usage and nothing else.

S23 Ultra 12Gb RAM. I own the phone...camera is a junk. I've tried to go in Pro mode...tried to get something good out of this phone. Pictures don't have natural colors...photos come out overexposed. Maybe performs better in the dark but still colors are wiped off like intentionally make it in this way. I think the 200mp sensor is the culprit of overexposure. I've tried with 200mp with 50mp the pictures come out overexposed and lack of colors. I've compared them with a S20 Ultra and IPhone. Once again ... S23 Ultra makes garbage pictures!

I only cons with the s23 ultra, no dolby vision 🥹 and when it comes to portrait photo, I use pro mode or expert raw to for background blur cause sometimes the edge detection of portrait mode is whack compare to pro/expert raw using focus to blur background
