Great video. I was about to give up on my Canon EOS rebel t2i. Is that similar to yours? My cannon has been getting hot and shutting off 5 min into video. I thought it was the batteries, but it does same with the name brand Cannon battery. Not sure what I should do because I would have to find a bracket to mount to wall for the S10. 🤷‍♀️ Also do you have any videos for photography wall art on Canon? Thanks.

I thought about that... but then I could easily just use a flat format for my Canon as well... and not many devices can ACTUALLY display hdr10 so for now it's quite the gimmick

How much ISO you have used in low lighting in canon camera?

The evening scene at end of the video..you should have shown how these 2 devices handle it ? Problem in such situations tends to be too dark (cannot see anything !) versus sometimes too bright if the sun is higher..also end result cannot seen anything ?! I find capturing such scenes a big challenge... would be interested to see how the Nokia 9 PV handles such situations ?

Which processor is the S10 + equipped with? Snapdragon or Exynos? I believe Exynos decreases the final quality of photos!

Just a heads up, try to lower the frame rate you're recording at to get rid of the indoor light flicker, 30fps should do

@@ramonicamickler2918 how so? With a DSLR, the optical zoom depends on your lens. If you have a telephoto lens, you can achieve a much better image with a dslr! Th s10 is limited to its built in telephoto lens and it's not bad... but much noisier than what you'd expect from a dslr

Did u use the pro mode on the s10 or auto mode? You should have used a better dslr camera. Kind of funny how you used a real mic on the dslr ofcourse you are going to get better sound with a real mic. Anyways good video. Keep it up

I have the Note 9..it doesnt ever get anything close to overheating and I'm a ULTRA POWER USER. It doesnt get hot on the Samsung wireless charger duo..or my car fast charger or my wall charger. I woukdnt keep your phone in your car if it's over 80 degrees outside though.

for accurate pictures without the beauty affect in the s10 plus you have to turn off the beauty mode which on the top right in the camera app which looks like a stick with few dots around it.

I compared the out-the-phone results with no adjustments except making sure the picture was focused.

I wanted to buy the cannon 200D, but after that video I'm staying with my galaxy s10 :D

Smartphone vs DSLR On the other hand, the camera is a device dedicated to recording images now plus a video recorder The second objective was made different at the beginning of the two are not tools that can be compared because of different basic designations. The smartphone's function as an image recording device can indeed represent the camera for practical reasons. For other reasons such as image quality, magnification and other technical matters I think not yet. Representing the camera's function YES, replacing it YET because the two were created for different functions.

Mate, you can't compare an ultra wide to a wide by zooming into bith until things are the same size. In an altra wide things are smaller so you zoom in more.

Hey, I'm only comparing the detail of the shots and the noise when I zoom in. The fact is that the s10 given plenty of time to focus gave a softer subject and had higher levels of noise in artificial lighting. I would really only use the ultra wide in outdoor settings which is what it's made for imo.

Thanks a lot for the comparison anyway. BTW I just compared the Xiaomi Mi 9 against the S10 and surprisingly the Mi 9 beats the S10 in low light in photos (when using Pro mode) as well as videos.

Honestly, it would've been a lot of scaling work if I had uploaded at UHD resolution. I was short on time for this video so I just uploaded in FHD. If you view on a desktop, you'll notice the s10 being much sharper in a lot of the footage (Samsung does tend to over-sharpen their images sometimes). But what's really noticeable is the colour difference and I really prefer the canon colors despite the images being softer

See, the thing is, most people wont know what the real life colors are like and so it's okay if the colors are off here and there.. the S10 is definitely a step up!

Try raw mode on s10.. For best video shot..u need open camera app..u can record upto 200mbps ...this give u higher contrast like dslr video

I really can appreciate the effort in doing this comparison, even though you are comparing apples with pears. If you are doing this kind of comparison at least try to be objective to the pictures you are taking. When I saw your information about portrait picture taking it just blew me away. Please don’t get discouraged about what I am saying, I am only saying this as a constructive criticism. Low aperture is the big nr and high aperture the low nr... all the best.

I don't know if you have set autofocus, but Canon seems to be out of focus, the images are kind of blurry. I believe Canon can create sharper images. I sold my D3300 and bought a Xiaomi Mi 9, and didn't like the results. In terms of photos, with GCam, the photos look good, but the videos are very bad, this phone has no stabilization. This year I'm going to change my wife's cell phone, and I'm wondering if I get an S10e or give her my cell phone, buy a cheap one and a SL2. Great video.

My brother has a S10 and the video in that is great. Stabilization is top notch. However, if you plan on viewing your videos on a TV, nothing can beat a DSLR XD

Yes. You can buy other lenses which will produce sharper images, not over-saturated and oversharpened like the S10 but still plenty sharp. Low light performance is still miles ahead with a DSLR!

I feel like this video is unfair if you used the stock android photo app. You cant control ISO, F stop, etc unless you use something like Filmic Pro.

yeah maybe if your smartphone is more expensive than a cheap dslr , but if your phone is just a entry level or mid range level you can't replace a cheap dslr , only some flagship phone can but not all s10 is more expensive than 200d so in some scenarios the s10 win , but not all the time.

S10 is better. The hell I care about the more accurate color. I prefer the prettier photo.

Also, I've seen other say it too, but seriously no DSLR should be left with a kit lense. Bad representation of what a DSLR can do. Buying a new lens transforms your camera. Kit lenses are baaaaaad quality.

But it's what most people have. This was made months ago but i think back then, my reasoning for just using the kit lens was that it was more fair than expecting my audience to buy an additional lens with their dslr. Ofcourse I should have mentioned the fact that the flexibility is there with changing lenses.. that surely would've added to this video..

The s10+ vs sl2/200D..... I have both. I have a lot of good pictures from the s10+ but I can do a lot more with the 200D with so many different linses to choose from. Its nice that Samsung is stepping up there game but in zoom all it appears is that the camera is for the most part cropping in and my pictures are grainy. On the plus side I you want and need to travel light like going to Disney Land the cell phone is the way to go. If you want to take some amazing pictures with a tripod for night photography the 200d is my choice. The 200d has a lot of the same guts as the 80d, same 24.6mg. The sl3/230 has some more impressive features like 4k. The sl2/200d also has been discontinued. My next dslr camera will be 77d or the what ever canon replaces the 80d with. Hopefully they will employ an charger in the camera that would be awesome.

I'm not even about to watch this....how do you compare a phone with an aperture of 1.5-2.4 to a kit len???? You can't! Anyone that actually knows about taking pictures, knows that it isn't about the camera but the lens. And each lens serve a different purpose.

You are right the lens matters. However, the purpose for this video wasn't to be scientific with the specs but to show a comparison between what you can get with a budget canon dslr with a kit lens and an s10.

I bought a canon 40d new. About the time I got my 4s iPhone, my Canon went into the bag and stayed there. Convenience rules for most non pro folks I think. I have a Galaxy s10 now and I can't see ever going back.

Excellent review , but you have no clue what you are doing , for example there is no image comparison at all , like corner sharpness center sharpness , chromatic aberration , not even a mention of fixed aperture on phone camera , or to be precise 2 modes , there is no F5 , F6 F8 F10 , everything is real basic and feature lacking , intentionally so that needs to be mentioned , i rolled in ignorance because you guys have no clue what you are talking about and you fooled me for some time , but not any more , those are garbage cameras worth only for self portrait and nothing else , due to limited feature set .

You'd be surprised if you saw the results without KZread compression. The S10 really was sharper in images (although that's also because of the over-sharpening with the way it processes images)

Well good job trying, you need a dlsr or newer camera that matches specs for video recording and well same megapixels for pictures and ratios. But still any good camera software built in will process photos differently than software on Samsung phone so you would need to shoot raw natural on both then upload clips of those of pictures then do same editing if any to both then show us. Also your samples were not taken exactly the same time same perfect conditions and environment was not picture friendly. All your samples blurry. Don’t get me wrong, s10 has ok cameras, real camera newer is going to take better pictures. I own 20mp 1 inch sensor Panasonic fz1000, and cell phone can’t match it. Also it takes 4K 30fps 100Mbps video that’s smooth as butter. S10 has stutters in video just like s9 and note 9.

I see what you mean. But this was to show amateur photographers how a cheap canon dslr would fair against an S10. The in camera colors are fair because lmost people would not want to edit them! Thank you so much for the feedback.. I will really try to get the exact same shots next time if I do another camera comparison!
