Proper pronunciation is gaelic over here anyway. I think you'll find that it's the scots that don't pronounce things properly but then again it's a different langauge i guess. Ireland is Irish not scottish bud ;)

Don't ever recall any murmuring in any Scots gaelic (proper pronunciation of the word is gallic) I've heard but I shudder at all the mis-prounced and mis-spelt words in the Irish dialect of this language. for instance Gale - ick for Gallic and craic for crack. When there is a contradiction the Scots should always be followed as it is the original version of the language. (Spoken by the Scots in Ireland when the island was called Scotland - long before the Erse appeared on the scene!)

Gallic is French. We in Scotland spell it Gaelic, that is the English spelling by the way.

Hello there, do you not KNOW that the word CRAIC is an ENGLISH word, which we Irish use also??? Google, research, or ask around, man. Inform yourself. This is an Irish song, sung " As Gaeilge" ( "in Gaelic") our Irish native tongue.

Jop a chara mo chroí. I know the British have spent centuries trying annihilate the Irish, so maybe that's where this re-writing of history is coming from ...but.. You've got it exactly the wrong way around. "Scotia" was the Latin for the inhabitants of Ireland i.e. the Irish.(Fact.) See: John Scotus the Irish medieval philosopher. When the Irish colonized Dál Riada in modern Scotland (Fact) it then-naturally- became known as the land of the Scoti i.e. The land of the Irish. (Fact) Classical Irish was the original language of Gaelic Scotland. Even up to the 18th Century Gaelic (or Gallic) speakers were known as "The Irish-speaking Scots" (Fact.) Alba, by the way is related to Albion! Perhaps ÉIRE MINOR would be the most accurate name for modern "Scotland -The Land Of The Irish". If you're looking for a more indigenous name try Pictland or Pictia. Don't get me going on where your Christianity came from! Na Gaeil Abú Go Deo!!

leslie falconer This is all available online, Ninian was first mentioned in the 8th century as bringing Christianity to "the southern Picts" many centuries earlier. There is nothing to link him to an historical figure- the best guess at present is that he was in fact Finnian of Maigh Bhile in modern Dún na nGall (Donegal) a teacher of Columba who was known as apostle of the northern Picts. You can easily see how Finnian could have changed to Ninian over time. As for "Scotia": Online etymology dictionary: "Scotia-Inhabitants of Ireland...the name followed the Irish tribe which invaded Scotland 6C. CE...the Irish who had settled in the northwest of Britain." Isidore of Seville in 580 CE says "Scotia and Hibernia are the same country" (Isidore, lib. xii. c. 6)" I have no idea what a "Roman Germanic" term could mean. And Scutten? Sounds makey-upy to me.Na Gael abú!

Who told you your opinion is worth a damn? She's a fine, powerful singer, she does a great job on this song, and the guitar-player does what he's there to do. I never knew there so many pompous fools in this world, until the internet enlightened me .....
