The timing with the first "go on" is correct... it's how the song was written however the portuguese closed mouthed vowels is making it sound a bit out of time ... Latin languages also emphasizes vowels more by making the sounds either abrupt or longer... very beautiful in bossa nova ... In English it can sound like a cut off of the consonants
