NST DAY ONE HEAD TO HEAD: Gabe Ferguson vs. Sage Kotsenburg
In a battle of backcountry partners, Bend, Oregon’s Gabe Ferguson was pitted against Park City, Utah’s Sage Kotsenburg. Tw winters ago, they starred in the same film and on Day One, they were going head-to-head at the first stop of the 2022 YETI Natural Selection Tour. Gabe came out swinging and crushed it on his first run, putting Sage in a tricky position but Sage won run 2 and forced a tiebreak run. When it came down to that third and final run, Gabe put down yet another consistent run and Sage had to answer back. After flowing the course perfectly, it all came down to The Great Wall feature where Sage stomped a gigantic Cab 9 and pinned it to the rider’s corral at the bottom, giving him the win at the buzzer and capping off an unbelievable Day One.
