What a dramatic nothing of a statement, you must be the smartest guy in the room in all rooms

It was prescribed to me for Neuropathic pain, unbearable headaches. It certainly helps. Also helped a lot with pain in my feet caused by nerve damage from alcohol abuse. I'm now proudly 1 year sober and I still take it because it is a nice anti - anxiety " chill pill " and it helps me get more done and I'm generally a more pleasant person to be with. Amen

Hi. Are you still taking gabapentin? My Dr. Just prescribed it for me. Are you happy with it?

I really wish you were my primary physician. Having grown up surrounded by medical professionals your age, all retired or gone now - I know a great doctor as opposed to those only in it for the $$ nowadays. gabapentin is the tenth most prescribed drug in the unites states, so yeah there’s going to be a lot of misinformation and false studies done on it. worked very well for my anxiety, sleep, pain and overall function.

Beth Campbell you are lucky. I took both for nerve damage after cervical surgery and got zero relief from my nerve pain. All the combination of the different drugs prescribed to help with the pain causes me heart damage, now I have double problems.

Beth Campbell I take it for nerve damage after surgical removal of phalanges in bilateral baby toes. Thank goodness it helps otherwise I’d never b able to sleep at night. It had got to the point I couldn’t even lay down with feet on the bed.

I had a skydiving accident. Broke my sacrum in 5 pieces, herniated two spine disks, broke both legs etc. Without Lyrica I couldn’t get out of bed. The electrical activity in my right leg hurts so much that after a while I end up drenched in sweat waiting for the next shock in anguish. Thanks to Lyrica I ride and train 4 horses daily.

As an MS patient with burning legs, Gabapentin has really helped me. I started on a low dose and slowly and gradually moved up to a dose that works. Yes it is large, but well within the safe limits. I know when I miss a dose or two because my legs will be on fire. Like many drugs, what works for me may not work for you. I've tried cutting back, but the pain strikes again.

As with any drug it can be abused and most if not all continue to build tolerance until you start taking such a massive dose that you cant handle not taking it anymore. The withdrawal is grueling slow and in my opinion worse than benzos and opioid narcotics combined! Not saying should never be used but always be informed because this drug will make 100% dependant

This medication gave me the most outrageous nightmares. I don't understand how a mind can even come up with such a weird demonic nightmares

I had internal shingles and the pain is still there. Gaba works great for me and keeps me from having to take too much ibuprofen. I'm very thankful that my doc prescribed it for me.

@@RedRose4141 I couldn't walk, had pain on my left side from my belly button all the way to my back. Even the slightest touch on my skin was so painful. Went to the doctor, and he diagnosed it. I believe he said 10 out of 100 will have it internally and I was one of those. It lasted for a very long time, over a year, although that initial agony gradually got better. I guess not too many people get shingles internally. Gabapentin helped, along with lots of ibuprofen and Tylenol. I still feel it occasionally.

Melinda C for Shingles and Diabetic Neuropathy it can be a life saver. But doctors prescribing it off label to avoid prescribing other medications is bad. Most people don't know of they take opiods, benzodiazepines, sleep meds and muscle relaxers gaba combined is dangerous and you can stop breathing in your sleep.

@@RedRose4141 It was definitely a life saver for me. I have more nerve problems than shingles, and I've never been on high dose. These days, I don't even take it every day, and it never bothered me to take less or to take none. But I have it just in case I need it. I don't see why anyone would abuse it, as it doesn't have any "high" that I could ascertain.

Melinda C I'm right there with you in that I can't relate to it being addictive like for a feeling of pleasure. But they are now seeing many do abuse it because they like the drunk feeling it gives them. I actually cannot stand how it makes me feel. I'm so sorry you went through the agony of shingles. I am planning on talking with my doctor about the shingles vaccine of my insurance will cover it at my age. Breaks my heart when I've seen people with shingles.

300 mg prescribed for lower lumbar stenosis last month. The first dose rendered dramatic relief of pain. First time I'd slept 6 hours straight in years! 1 capsule at bedtime does it. In my case a gift from God!

I have spinal ostiosis!! And it helped me greatly!! I would have so much pain in my spine which would go down to my legs and it would be hard for me to walk because of the pain!! But when the Dr. Perscribed that medication for me, in less than 5 min. I felt great!! I was able to walk normal it took so much of my pain away and I had a much better ability to stand up streight without hurting!! The only side effect that I have ever gotten from it and I have been taking it for 3yrs., Is I do get just a little drowsy but I can control my sleep and still fuction until I am safe at home to take a nap!! It to me, is a miracle because I had got to the point where I couldn't get out of bed because of the pain in my spine and legs!!

My wife had chronic pain when gamma globulin (an anti-biotic cocktail) injection infiltrated her sciatic nerve. Since she is allergic to narcotics, the doctors tried gabapentin to help her sleep. The next morning, she fell out of bed as she tried to get out of bed. Now, she has chronic vertigo (persistent-chronic (24-7 silent migraine). It took her a month to re-learn how to walk; can't stand for longer than 15 minutes at a time; can't discriminate between speakers in a crowded room; and can't drive anymore. She used to be a master website programmer. Today, she only plays 2D games, and crochets; on total disability from the Army. Big pharma swears it's not the gabapentin; (bullsh*t).

Works remarkably well for me, for my nerve damage related to amputation. I would like to get off it all together, but the nerves in my limb are way to active for me to be able to sleep when I am not on the medication. Even at as low a dosage as 200 Mg, it works remarkably well.

Try something else if you can. Tylenol, avil and opiates can work. Muscle relaxants as well. It helps me A lot.

It works very well for my GAD and panic disorder. No real side effects other than a little sleepiness.

@@crunchypeanut7554 Very quickly. I was having a nervous breakdown and in under a week I was dramatically better. I also went on Lamotrigine as a mood stabilizer but that was a ramp up. My results might not be typical and it doesn't work for everyone. But for me it's been a profound life change.

Saved my dad from the extreme pain associated with shingles. Only side effect was the strange change in his personality. He turned from melancholy sadness to giddy and happy...and a bit too uninhibited with his conversations with the nurses! We lowered the dose and the behavior subsided. 😅

Took this for a few years. At first it was good for my neuropathy and then the dose wasn't effective. Increased several times and that's when the trouble began. Bad vision problems and extreme brain fog. When I weaned off, it gave me very dark and disturbing thoughts and I had bad mood swings. I'd never touch this poison again!!

Well, the doc seems to take a hard line on this one, but Gabapentin changed my life. It's prescribed for social anxiety, and without it I feel like I'm trapped in a box. It has freed me from crippling anxiety, it allows me to work and socialize, and the only side effect I've ever experienced was some slight clumsiness. So, while the doc is definitely right in his presentation about a lot of things, I have found it to be personally highly effective.

@@mschmuck2 Well, this is the reply that's making me stop dead in my tracks. Finally received some medication for crippling anxiety (dying from airway metastasis), and the doctor settled on Gabapentin and Buspirone (haven't tried the latter yet). I've been taking 300mg 1/d as opposed to her script of 3x/d. I've had it for past cancer surgeries, and I do recall a bit of a rebound when tapering down. I'm not going to ramp up anymore... time for a few days of 100mg/d followed by every other day until I'm off. This drug is a no-go.

I normally don't comment on videos but after reading the comments I felt like it would be beneficial. I'm 23 years old and I've been on gabapentin for about 5 years now. I've been prescribed multiple controlled substances which I never had any problems with as far as addiction (which is said to be more likely in people under 25 years old). I started at I think 400mg 2 times a day. Quickly went up to 3 times a day. Then went up to 600mg 2 times a day. Then went up to 600mg 3x a day. Then went up to TWO 600mg pills (so 1200mg) 3x a day. Overall that would be 3600gm a day. In the beginning I felt no effect from the drug besides a small relief from my joint pain in the morning (which it was prescibed for along with anxiety) so I wouldn't even take it regularly. Once I was taking the 600mg I started taking it regularly. Then I felt like due to the joint pain I needed it 3 times a day. Then my anxiety worsened and I felt like I needed more than 600mg 3x a day. Ive been taking the 3600mg daily for about 3 years and last year I tried to go off of it. I weened off of it as the doctor instructed and I noticed my anxiety get worse but they assured me that it would go away. I was unable to leave my house to walk to 10ft to my mailbox. I wouldn't answer the phone. I couldn't even communicate to people via messenger online. I felt overwhelming fear and my body ached constantly (which I didn't even blame on the gabapentin considering I have very bad/unusual musculoskeletal problems for my age and have for years). 4 months later I still couldn't leave my house and none of these "withdrawals" had lessened. I didn't feel any of the typical physiological symptoms associated with withdrawal besides the "fight or flight" that came with anxiety and it was constant. NOTHING like the anxiety I experienced when I was prescribed the medication. I went back on the medication at the 3600mg daily JUST to continue on with my life. When I first started taking gabapentin I felt like it was doing good things for me. Admittedly not a lot, but I felt like it was making a difference until like 50 (not exaggerating) medications I had taken previously including psych meds, nerve pain medications, muscle relaxers, etc... I thought it was doing great things for me until I actually looked up the entirety of the side effects that other people were experiencing (not just the proven side effects listed on the paper you get from the pharmacy). And I was amazed to see the connection. What I thought was just my other illnesses developing were actually side effects other people experienced from gabapentin. Is it better to be on a medication you think is good for you and less risk than other medications, only to find out what its doing to you and realize you're unable to go off of it? If anyone has any advice for medications used to ween off of other meds, PLS let me know. (I've tried med marijuana and I'm personally not a fan so that suggestion is out!) My doctor says there's no such thing but I think thats BS. Always question your doctor. I understand they went to school for a very long time and they are licensed to do this but what a lot of us don't know is that our doctors largely get paid through SPONSORSHIPS with pharmaceutical companies. Meaning, they get paid to prescribe us certain medications that might now even be good for our diagnosis. A lot of our doctors don't even know how to recognize the side effects caused by drugs they prescribe (can you imagine having to remember all the information about the body/illnesses that they have to AND remember everything drugs do on top of that?), and so when we come in with a "new complaint" that is ACTUALLY just a side effect, we get put on ANOTHER drug to deal with that side effect. I know having health problems is very stressful on top of day to day life, but do not trust your doctor to know everything/tell you everything. Do not put your health in someones hands unless you've known them your entire life. Be cautious and try and educate yourself as much as possible because sadly enough the medical field is "not what it used to be" if that's how you want to look at it....

I am a pharmacist and was completely fooled, I read the literature before I started taking this drug and the literature dose not even begin to warn how awful the drug is. And the FDA does not even know what it does. So we in the medical field we cannot try to figure out if there is an antidote. No, marijuana does not work, you thing it does but the side withdrawal effects are just delayed a little. I completely understand what you are going through, I am fearful this hell drug is a life sentence.

When VERY SLOWLY. knock 50 mgs off every 10 days/1 week or whatever is comfortable for YOU. it effects everyone different. It will take awhile too so just remain calm and wean slowly. Going to fast is dangerous....as you already found out.

Gabapentin withdrawal is alot worse than narcotics withdrawal. It's like Xanax withdrawal plus exaggeration of your symptoms that got you prescribed for in the first place. I'll take morphine withdrawal any day of the week over gabapentin withdrawal. Lyrica is a potent gabapentin for the most part... stay far away.

Its been years since I posted it but I still get notification when people reply to it (typically patronizing me, as you could probably see if you read the other replies) and it always upset me. I was treated like I was crazy by "professionals" and I was also treated like I was crazy in the replies to my comments. I had my thyroid checked many many times over the years due to other health issues and illnesses that run in my family (everything always came back perfect on my test results). I weened FAR slower than the people in the comments keep recommending. I weened 50mg every 6-8 WEEKS. I also studied pharmacology for 3 years. So I genuinely am so grateful that you took the time to respond to my comment with such compassion and understanding. Im 26 now, turning 27 soon, and the best the doctors could do for me was switch me over to 200mg Lyrica 3 times a day. I take it 2 times a day now but that was the best that I could do. I was hoping that getting older might have changed some things for me so I tried to ween off of the lyrica twice with no luck. Its funny, I was prescribe some of the most controlled substances over the years and some of them I took for 2 or 3 years before going off of them. Cold turkey (I know I know, bad. But I never wanted to be reliant on any medication). Never had an issue or any side effects besides minor discomforts that were to be expected. I recovered within a couple weeks MAXIMUM every time. But with Gabapentin/lyrica I just cant. Ive done a lot of research and I think there is ONE thing that can help and that is something called Evolutionary Herbalism (you might be interested in it, theres a book on it thats very easy to digest, a FANTASTIC read. Its by Sajah Popham). If you're a skeptic then I agree it seems...."wooh-wooh" on occasion.... but I have seen many individual who suffered YEARS and years from EXTREME health issues cured by this method of herbalism. Its a LOT of information, a lot of history, a lot of studying the constituents of each individual plant, how they function in the body, how they function together, etc etc etc... I'm not advanced enough to treat myself of my dependence on Lyrica and my core/root health issues yet but so far I have cured several of my other health issues. I take 2 different medications now (the lyrica and cambia, before I was taking 13 different pills a day) and Im grateful for that but... still awayiting the day I can finally flush this lyrica down the toilet!!!!!!! Thank you again for your kindness and understanding... It really means a lot when for YEARS people treat you like you're crazy (even when you're digging up all the evidence that supports the fact that Im not!)... I hope you're well and I hope one day we can see a difference in the healthcare system!!!

I am presenting with what I believe is small fibre peripheral neuropatthy but before all tests were carried out, TWO consultants prescribed me Gabapentin. I had already looked up the issues related to this drug and refused it. I was shocked that they were prescribing this without even doing tests to check I had what I had.

I've had a prescription for codeine 3 for 10+ years, with my usual refill pattern being 60 pills every 90 days for multiple chronic pain issues. Recently my neurologist switched me to Gabapentin. At first, I was told to take one 300mg capsule a day and to work up to one 300mg capsule three times a day. After taking the first dose I went into an intense vascular migraine within 60 minutes and vomited some hours later. The migraine stayed for four days with no additional dosages and eventually went away late in the evening of the fourth day. During this time I could barely find words while talking, speech was slurred and I could barely take myself to the bathroom and back. I reported all of this to my doctor and he reduced my intake to 100mg capsules and again tried to get me to build-up to a three times a day goal. I followed this and went four days on one 100mg capsule and then went up to two capsules a day (200mg/ per day). That evening some hours later the symptoms re-emerged. Again, I went off it and everything went back to normal about 48+ hours later. I'm sharing this because my doctor is insistent so far that this medication is the ideal replacement for painkillers like codeine 3. Yet I can care for myself on codeine (care for myself = bathe, feed self, move around house and leave house with supervision) yet I so far cannot cope well enough to do these things while on Gabapentin. I've been reading up online about this medication and it seems like this is being pushed heavily by a lot of doctors as a replacement for a lot of different painkillers. I am not an expert, but I find it very concerning that this seems to be gaining a lot of traction before there are more studies about it's long-term effects easily available to the public. For reference, this is list of my conditions; Mild Cerebral Palsy, multiple back injuries (deformations; widen spinal canal, misshapen vertebra), IBS (caused by cerebral palsy, it seems), chronic migraines (vascular and non-vascular), seizure-like episodes (recent development; appears non-epileptic / tied more to increased pressure in head), endometriosis, eczema.

Porcelain chips hi i was on it for a year and a half.It really honest help me a lot with the nerve pain but after i start on having really bad thoughts of i just want to die i just want to kill myself i dont want to live full stop.When i said that to my pain doctor she took me off immediately.

I was given this drug for pain in my neck due to C3 bone spurs. It took away the pain and was wonderful. After awhile I started to forget things, like misplacing the keys, forgetting my pin code at the ATM machine. When I had a doctor appt and forgot where the doctor was located, I knew there was a problem. Explained this to my doctor, he immediately took me off the drug weaning me off it gradually. I had mild withdrawals like getting cranky, and not sleeping well. But eventually that went away, my memory came back, and all is well. Gabapentin took care of the pain but the side effects were not worth it.

My husband is 66 years olds, he had big major low back surgery, the surgery damaged left leg and foot's nerve. It mad his left leg and foot hurt all the time, he took gabapentin 1,200 mg 3 times a days for 2 year. Yes, all the symptoms that he said it is true.

I’m taking 200 mg a night for anxiety & sleep (so I’m really taking way more but spaced out at least a few days so it works better). How much is a good amount to ask my doc for that won’t seem like I just want to eat em all?

Gabapentin is a miracle for my anxiety and mood. But I’ve been on it two years and I’ve gained at least 40 pounds. Has anyone else gained a massive amount of weight on this drug and been unable to lose it?

I’ve been on it for a couple months and i gained a few pounds that helped after coming off more serious street drugs about a year ago. Now I want off of it cause I took it in generous amounts over the counter cause the medical sites downplayed it and now I’m reading horror stories on here. Been there done that with intense physical dependencies. I blame myself for not thinking it through having gone through the opioid epidemic and the lies of big pharma. I was on the higher side of the safe dose and have dipped my feet in the water of wd and it’s not straight up horrible like Xanax or heavy opioids but it is uncomfortable. Wish me luck on my taper and it shouldn’t be too bad if you were taking it as prescribed and taper but just know ive read shit here that scares the fuck out of me who’s been on multiple heavy downers. Don’t mean to scare you just saying

taking 300 mg every 6 hours for spinal stenosis. pain is about 25% of before without. can actually function pretty well now. getting MRI in a few days. then hope for minimal invasive surgery. love this drug. don't believe all you hear from this guy or others. hardly any side effects i notice.

I think he is negative because as he states, 85% of prescriptions are off label use which means unlike you most people use it for unintended problems and these people are more susceptible to it’s bad side affects

It made me, almost immediately, suicidal - and I've never felt that way before.

I have only been taking this Gabapetin for 2weeks. My doctor prescribed me 100mg first so I took that for about 3 days and then up 'd the dosage to 300mg but I only take 200mg. I have back problems that is causing pain & spasms in my back due to pinched nerve and I have 4 boldgng disks. I also am taking Meclizine & methocarbamol. My doctor have me all this to take. Now I have already been having blurred vision, headaches, dizzy spells, nausea, vominting, hot flashes and almost passing out before taking the Gabapentin & Meclizine. Now everything has gotten worse. I have had and MRI on head done very recently as well as X-Ray on back and waiting for MRI to be done in back. I told my doctor about the increased pain as well as the increased dizziness, nause, vomiting & headaches and that's when she up the dosage of Gabapentin from 100 to 300. I feel I should no longer take the meds but I'm in so much pain. Should I stop taking the meds bcuz I can't handle the increased side effects of which I was Lready

It was the silver bullet for my trigeminal neuralgia. A life saver.

Helps me for same condition I take 100mg at night. If I take during day it makes me feel really strange. Does nothing other chronic pain issue I have.

A doctor prescribed this to my mother when she was diagnosed with ALZ. It gave her a terrible rash. Still have NO CLUE why it was prescribed to her. Thankfully she stopped the first script. 💙

Gabapentin has everything a doctor could want in a medication. 1) It is not a controlled substance; 2) It is not an opioid; 3) It is not a benzodiazapine. It is only lacking in one area: Efficacy. My doctor now prescribes Placebo for me which is also completely lacking in efficacy but also completely devoid of side effects. Now that virtually every medication that is not OTC is off limits (most doctors might at well throw away their Rx pads and try to pay off their med school loans by directing patients to Ayurvedic herbal supplements and Tyleonol) I predict that Placebo will be the most frequently prescribed medication in the U.S. before long. As always, only your doctor can determine if Placebo is right for you.

My husband took it for epilepsy .It seemed to help . I was prescribed it later for something ....maybe pain ...crazy . I was taken off of it a few years ago .I feel better.

I have taken it for pain for years. I do get relief, even after surgeries it has helped. I know some get no relief but it does help me.

Wow,I found out much more from this Dr and I'm in a living he'll at present as I have been on Gabapentin for just a year,not for pain,for sleep,and I was going up and up as they didn't work after awhile.I become terribly suicidal and begged three Drs to help me,NONE did,and one was an Addiction Dr, who told me I can take as many as I like,they do no harm.I got very upset. Well no help so I went cold turkey on my own.I suffer Grand Mal seizures that at present are controlled,but coming off cold turkey was important as I have cirrhosis and my extremities swell,as does my face,and I have put on 4 kilos,in a year.I don't eat much either.I already believe I have ascites so also swell,so double swelling.My LFTs were nice and normal,to last year,and suddenly took a hike up,for no reason.When I heard you mention LFTs rise and liver issues, I was not happy with my GP giving this to me to begin with.Just too many side effects and coming off it is he'll.I have had restless leg syndrome suddenly ON THEM,that's recent too.This drug is is evil and i took 5 times 300 mg last night just to sleep,as the night before was 4 x 300mg wasn't working...tonight 1 x 300mg and haven't slept yet,as I don't sleep till 2 am don't know why and on these sleep all day and so depressed I wanted to kill myself...sadly no one takes my feelings seriously so I'm going off this gapapentn ASAP..my Dr has put me in a living he'll and not helped me come off THEM either....3 Drs seem to think they are fine to take..well they are not,as so many people are suffering because of this...THANKYOU for this very informative video Dr

I took myself off of 13 different drugs. Many crazy doctors prescribed massive doses of 13 of them for 30 years and I’m in a living hell right now. I think I might have to be hospitalized but with this Corona scam going on I don’t want to go there because they are killing people. I thought I was dying this morning. None of them ever told me about the side effects.

I’m sure glad I finally listen to my own gut feeling! I have been off this overly hyped meditation now for 2 months 😊

Lyrica gave me hallucinations. One dose and never again . And Neurontin has no effect whatsoever. Still, I know these meds are life savers for some people.

Oh my god, dr offered me both of these drugs (not together) gabopentin on my coffee table now. Friends advised me not to take it , so thought I’d change to lyrica. Thanks for the warning. Just stopped duloxitine (cymbalta) which was severely altering my personality. Still adjusting from swelling and dizziness.

I'm just gonna say this is my second time being prescribed gabapentin. I was prescribed them to aid in my voluntarily giving up zubsolv. it's been over a year now and I'm still prescribed them, not even for anything, lol. I get 6 months worth of refills. these are widely abused in my area due to opiates, stimulants and benzos being hard to find and expensive. (I'm in the sticks where the dealer on the corner doesn't exist.)

I am taking 1200 m daily for after pain of shingles which I had an outburst in Sept 21, 2018. It is now Feb 2019 and I am still experiencing pain which I had on 20% of my body, leg, head, groin area, abdomen, under breast area, half back. Still can't wear bra because it hurts, even my underwear still hurts around my waist, get sharp pains around my abdomen. Will this pain ever stop?

Thank you Dr Landau for your honest assessment.If. 300 2ce/ day, would backing off 1 pill per wk. safe enough to avoid seizures?

I'm glad some people can tolerate it and it helps them. It's prescribed like M & M's. I took it as Neurontin, Gabapentin and Gabapentin again And I will never take it again.

I have been taking Gabapentin for many years for non diabetic neuropathy. I take four 300 mg capsules for a total of 1200 mg. per day. I take one 300 mg capsule approximately every 6 hours. It has helped my pain considerably. The pain without the drug would be a 9 and with Gabapentin a 4. The side effect that I get is a little light-headedness and a little foggy thinking. So I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Im the same ......i now do a ketogenic diet with gabapentin ....i cut out sugar @ wheat ..my brain is sharp ...check keto out ive never felt better ..look up dr berg or dr berry ...

Dr. There is a lot of info on the internet about Neurontin being Ototoxic. Do you have an opinion on this ? Thank you...

My mother took this for just over week it made her zombie like, we were deeply concerned about how much she was sleeping being diabetic she wasn’t eating because of the tiredness. She was wobbly on her feet and had terrible fall due to zombie effect and wobbly. Few weeks later had another broke her wrist. She had what we didn’t know hypertensive heart disease and she passed away suddenly after having her cast off. My brother and I are convinced this and duloxitine affected her to have those falls. Some drugs should really be looked into that are years old.

So (with my doctors help and guidance) I’ve been coming off this medication for about 6 months. I was on almost 3000mg daily, I’m down to 300mg day(100mg TID) and can’t seem to get any lower than this tiny dose because of side effects of withdrawal, bad ones. Any advice? Thanks!!!

omg! Been on lyrica and Baclofin for nerve pain for 10 plus yrs. always thought it was the combo that was causing my memory loss. I could not remember ANYTHING! all other medics will cause worse sideeffects. stay weith baclo and lyrica . its gold for your siutation ... just down relgulate the dosage. there is NO magic bullet. you have to weight the PRO/KONTRAs and see if its fits for you

I have moderate neuropathy, it is a life saver for my pain. I have noticed no side effects to worry about. I think most folks are so hung up on getting high they abuse everything they can get their hands on. Use to be glue and paint huffing, now it is prescription drugs.

Back in the day you could order drugs and syringes from JC Penny catalog and Coke really had Coke in it. There's a history of prescribing these drugs and then realizing they've only created stronger ones then ban them again. No one should suffer such intense pain.

Hey, I realize this is an old post, but how much did you take of it? Do you still take it? Any side effects you had often? Do you know the average/normal amounts of Gabapentin that are used to help anxiety or for sleep? My doc only gave me 200 mg a night, and it’s not effective for me. I was thinking of getting like 400-600 mg a night if the doc is willing, so I’ll take like 600 a night I think.

It did stop my pain from shingles. Like a charm it worked.

This drug is amazing. I got a total hip replacement and developed inflammation of my sciatica nerve causing severe pain in my right leg, mainly my foot. It was so bad I barely slept for a week and was miserable. My dr prescribed neurontin and after only 1 dose of 300 mg, I experienced unbelievable relief within a few hours. I have been taking it for 3 days now and while I still have slight nerve pain, i feel like a completely different person. I sleep full 7 or 8 hours, am walking much better, and my mood is great. This is just my experience which of course will differ from others but for me this was as close to a miracle drug as I have taken.

I take this medication for nerve pain due to a spinal cord injury. When I started it, I noticed I had less brain fog and I felt more present. I told my doctor and he said I wonder if you’ve been having mini seizures? I don’t know, but I can tell when I miss it for a while the brain fog comes back. I’ve chosen myself to go off it for a while every now and then. I don’t know if that’s beneficial or not but that’s what I feel comfortable with. It also helps with the nerve pain quite a bit.

It was prescribed for my MS too. They knew that I was on a myriad of drugs at the same time. Opiates and fentenyl. They almost killed me. I no longer trust the big pharma drug pushing doctors. ALA (alpha lipoic acid) is a natural supplement that helps neuropathic pain much better. I'm now off the opiates as well. Many in my MS groups have had greater success using ALA as well. I wish you success in your search for relief and improved mobility. 🧡

I take Gabapentin for several different issues. It really works very well for me. I have been on it for 5 years. I have never tried to stop my dosing,increase my dose, or have ever suffered any withdrawal in missed doses. My dose is 900 ml. Daily. I have no side effects.

@@IThinkImJudgeJudy69 Sorry, I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to the person who said there were no side effects. My suggestion to that person is that the dose they are taking will dull their awareness. Hence it is probably more accurate to say they don't notice any side effects, rather than that there are none. No issues with what you're saying except that for some people, opioids are probably safer. The problem with opioids is addiction and overdose. If one is careful what they mix their opioids with and not prone to addiction, the opioid is a cleaner drug that is safer IMO.

I have a question regarding Lung cancer and what do you recommend for your patients. I was recently diagnosed with stage four. My main problem at this moment is about my constant tingling arms and fingers. My oncologist advised me to take tabrecta tablets. I have secondary progressive ms and was prescribed gabapentic for nerve pain. Unfotunately, for me, it didn't work at all. I think it might be one of those tablets that doesn't work for everyone?

Gabapentin helps with nerve pain throbbing pain due to foot drop. It slows down the signal of pain to brain. However I need to take additional Tylenol or norco for other type pain from surgery. Left Femur reconstruction.

Doctor ive been taking lyrica for more than two years on daily basis an crazy quantity for my social anxiety and today i can't stop it if for example if i stopped it if feels like i'm tripping on lsd i feel very abnormal and i really tried all the ways i went to 5 therapists and they never understand, anyways currently i take like 3 300mgs a day and everyday i feel like my body is giving up and shutting and i dont know if i'm going to make it so any recommendations?

Maybe you should ween down to just take two a day?

What about Lupus? Dr tells me to take it for pain in addition to Percocets...I’m having jerky movements like crazy & double vision! I need anti-inflammatory meds! I’m going to wean off this...

Have you looked up serotonin syndrome?

If I take this for anxiety (after finding benzo's wayyy too addictive) and that meanss I don't have panic attacks every day anymore...and I don't have side effects...how is that bad? Btw, if 50% of 50% didn't have any improvement....that is 75%, not 85%

Great when I get stressed and can’t calm down before bed . Only When really required . Sometimes wake up very dizzy, slightly sedated effects from it

My husband has been on Gabapentin for about 10 years. He was on maximum dosage (12 a day) but 3years ago weaned himself down to 2 a day. (Still 300mg.) However he continues to experience tremors. Are these a permanent side effect???

That is exactly what is happening to me! The PCP and physiatrist don't understand - or care. I swear it has been a nightmare. Did you find an alternative?

I am, tapering down from 1200mg, I have been taking it since 2005, I feel nauseous all the time, I feel tired and depressed all the time. I am at 600 now, cant wait to finish it and be free.
