This video features a rigging and tuning the 2016 Gaastra Matrix HD sail and rig package from start to finish. Jon Massmann from Isthmus Sailboards takes you on a detailed step by step process to guide you through successful rigging and tuning your sail with confidence. This rigging video shows you the ins and outs of proper settings, mast length, mast extension boom attachment / adjustments, top haul and batten tensioning and modifying the sail for increased power and wind range. It also show you rigging tools ideal to making the process easier. The rig features: GA 6.5 Matrix HD sail, GT HD 60 430 carbon SDM mast, RRD M series Aluminum boom, Chinook (now Aeron HD) Medium EP mast extension, Gaastra Uphaul, Aeron 1-bolt mast base. Setting Top haul strap length = 1:38
Inserting mast up mast sleeve = 3:15
Mast Extension setting = 4:52
Threading downhaul line through sail / mast extension = 6:00
Downhaul tool options and how they work = 7:27
RRD M29 boom adjustment = 10:55
RRD M29 boom clamp-on attachment to mast = 12:20
RRD M29 rear end outhaul attachment = 13:31
Gaastra Sail Batten Tension instructions = 14:30
Gaastra Matrix HD Tuning & Downhaul for shape and wind conditions = 16:00
Fine tuning sail draft = 18:10
Uphaul attachment to Boom front end = 19:20

Great video. Getting back into windsurfing after many years. I took out my equipment from the garage, dusted it off and realize how old it was. Sails, boom, mast, all from the 1990's. These new rigs look a lot better.

This is SOOOO helpful. I'm a beginner and haven't surfed in a long time. That said, I found this video VERY informative...Much appreciated. Good Instruction.
Nice one Jon - I had no idea to be honest as I had never rigged a pre-battened sail before. It was very saggy as I was not pulling the down haul tight enough. Cheers and thanks again Jim

Great video! Could you upload one showing how to rig a 3 pulley boom? No idea how to use them for non adjustable outhaul system, and not sure if only 1 pulley or the 3 must be used. Thx!

Alberto, You only need to use one pulley on most with multiple pulleys for standard outhauls. Depends on the model you have of boom. Some of our older videos for rigging Gaastra Matrix HD sails might show this approach.
Здравствуйте!Парус GA Hibrid.7.7 .скажите почему нижние латы расположенные вдоль гика набегают на мачту ,и это никак не убирается ,парус 7.7,мачтуа 460 удлинитель ставлю 17,5 и очень сильно натягиваю .
